Strength:

Love the feel and looks of my 'baby truck' - coined in Texas by my F150, 250, and 350 owners.

Weakness:

Road noise not what I wish it would be and lately, as stated above - ride is lacking (but hopefully I have fixed that one)

Have just turned 110,000 miles on my 2001 FEST and obviously love it. No major problems but getting up there in mileage - currently investigating rough ride - have had tires balanced, alignment but still getting mini-vibrations. Just "discovered" that original shocks still on vehicle - have taken vehicle in twice to Ford dealership and no one has mentioned shocks as a possibilty. I think 110,000 miles on original shocks is a bit much .... but, my fault for not thinking about this before. Hope I have come up with the solution. As far as overall satisfaction with the Sport Trac - simply put - would buy another one.

Strength:

Smooth ride for a SUV/Truck, sporty look, towing options, and truck bed with extender.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, but hey it's a 4x4 truck

I just purchased my new sport trak (loaded) and love it so far. I had a Explorer Sport 2dr, and before that an Eddie Bauer 2dr loaded. I like the smooth rider, sporty look, the 4 doors, leather, sun roof, 6 cd player, t-cover that flips open in back and front. I test drove a lot fo SUVs (Mazda Tribune, Jeep, Chevy Trailblazer, Mitsubishi Endeavor, Toyota Highlander, and even the new sportscar-Mazda RX8 and have found if I want something sporty, + a 4 door 4x4 with room to load up things, and take trips, the Sport Trak was the best choice. It is the SUV/truck combo I have always wanted. Plus I got an additional rebate of $3k off the $29k!

Strength:

Great looks, rides well, excellent in snow and rain, and the feel is very responsive. The cargo area stays dry under the Hard Tonneau cover even in the heaviest of rain.

Weakness:

Gas mileage is less than optimal.

We wanted to get away from "small cars" into something roomier but still sporty looking. We hit the jackpot with our Oxford White XLT 4x4! Ours has the 4.10 rear gear option and Premium Sport Group package (Hard Tonneau cover, Cargo Bed Extender, etc.). The factory stereo included CD and Cassette players. Sounds like it has a subwoofer but it doesn't! We love our Sport Trac and the Ford dealers we've delt with (Ramey in Beckley WVa and Parkway Ford in Winston Salem NC) are great folks who are eager to see you happy and provide excellent service!

Physical size and features. Moon Roof, leather interior and soft cover. Change to Michelin tires during the recal and vehicle rides like a passenger car.

Weakness:

Would like to have v-8 and the little wider unit like the new Explorers

We were considering a F-150 4X4 before we saw this one and after that there was no doubt that this would handle our needs without the size of the larger PU. We have thoroughly enjoyed our Sport Trac. Our owner applied Red/White and Blue graphics draws attention where ever we go.

Strength:

Transmission- smooth, Towing power, cabin ergonomics

Weakness:

Limited Interior color selection, Bumper colors not coordinated with body, expensive fiberglass Top $1,885, ouch.

Like the roomy cab, especially the rear seat. Handles very like a car, quite responsive for a truck. Brakes are excellent with the addition of disk brakes in the rear. If you are planning to buy one get the 4.10 differential, improves acceleration. Installed a K&N filter and replaced oil with a synthetic oil from Amsoil, bumped the city milage to 18 mpg, highway to 23 mpg without a bed top! Rubber mat versus rug in the cab is plus for us campers and off-road enthusiast. Buy the U-haul trailer hitch is the same as the oem, but less expensive.

Strength:

The interior is roomy and leather seats are a must. The options are great like a sunroof and pioner audio system.

Weakness:

The engine needs to be upgraded to a V8 and better gas economy.

This suv/truck is great from the comfortable and roomy interior to the unique and intresting styling. This truck is great for driving to and from school to grocies shopping. The bed cover is great a little pricy but it does what it says. The sport trac could use a V8 and get some better gas mileage. The rear seats have a suprising amount of room along with the coomfy leather seats. The rear power window is great and increases ventilation by a lot and getting power everything just maskes it better. The interior is great with the berber carpets and they also dampen the road noise. The availbe saftey canopy system is great and makes me fell safe in the car especialy in an SUV because they rollover so easily. Don't get the 4x4 unless you need it because it costs more and worsens the fuel economy. But all in all this is a great car.

Strength:

Reliable - 29,000 miles so far, no major problems. Good off-road. Stereo. Good visiblity. 4-wheel drive easy to get on and off.

Weakness:

Bad oil pressure switch. Tires - had the bad Firestones, Ford paid for new, got 5 BFGoodrich Long Trail LIGHT TRUCK tires - not passenger car tires that came standard. Mileage bites - 13 to 16 mostly. Could use a bit more power. Looks goofy, but I can't see that while I'm driving. Short box, but much more flexible than the hatch room on an SUV.

Leased this, got all the options - leather, moon roof, 6-disc in dash CD, etc. Everything works fine. Ride is OK daily, good off-road in Colorado backcountry - it climbs like a mountain goat. Bought the factory tonneau cover - seemed pricey, but it is great - seals well, locks, folds in half from front or back. Combined with bed extender, it makes the box handier than a trunk. Used the built-in bumper hitch & wiring with a U-Haul, no problem. Bought this instead of another Pathfinder for the rear seat room - much better. Beats most SUV's (Exploer, Blazer, etc) for interior room, and is quieter, drives easy as a car. Can haul dirty stuff outside the seating area - not like SUV's - and also taller and longer loads.

Similar Products Used:

1998 Nissan Pathfinder - really liked it too, but rear seating was too small, cargo area limited.
