Strength:

killer 500w pioneer in-dash cd changer w/subwoofer. quiet engine decent mileage for a mid-size SUV. the rubber flooring is a breeze to clean

Weakness:

Outdated interior. This truck could stand a set of wider tires. The OE Goodyear Wrangler ST don't match up to the aggressive look of this truck. Pioneer could have thrown in a graphic EQ with the stereo and the subwoofer enclosure is too tall and I can't fold the rear seat on the driver's side

I bought my sport trac in August of 2005. It listed for $31,500, but I paid $25,900 through the Ford employee discount promotion. The color is black clearcoat with the pebble leather interior. It has all of the options except for the side curtain airbags and reomte starting. I like the power moonroof and the power back window. The Ford guys could have put a supercharger and dual exhaust on this trim package.

Strength:

Comfort, design, off-road handling, on road handling, visibility, very roomy in the cab. Headlights, very bright.

Weakness:

Power, 205 hp is not enough to push almost 6000 plds, and still be good on fuel. Tires, noisy going around corners ( even at low speed). Sound system could be better.

Bought this ST used (63000 km), great in the snow, dirt, or on the streets. 02 Explorer ST (black) Very comfortable leather. Power heated seats are great, good visibility out the back. Sound system is ok, but what really sold me the truck was the back rear (electric) sliding window/moon roof.

Strength:

Very comfortable leather seats. Adult sized accommodations, even in the back seat. Love the factory tonneau cover.

Weakness:

Needs a more informative display... fuel consumption, trip data, not just temperature and direction. Need cancel feature on cruise control rather than having to tap the brakes.

Very happy with my Ford after 8000km's in two months. Just traded in an absolute lemon of a Jeep Liberty Renegade. After driving the Ford I severed all ties with Chrysler and sold off all of their products.

Great looks, easy mods, confortable ride

Weakness:

hard to find engine mods

I love this truck. My parents gave it to me as a graduation gift from high school in 2002. So far I have stuck $12,000.00 into it on an interior lighting system, car audio and video, and engine modifacations. It runs a 13.86 in the 1/4 mile at 107mph. It scares me though cause I have not lowered it any and the truck sways when you got that fast.

looks good

Weakness:

breaks, shocks, leather, tires, exhaust

I have wanted a sport trac since they came out, but could never afford a new one, and it was very hard to find one used with low milage, so when i did find my sport trac and traded my 2000 focus that took me 3 years to build and over $35,000 invested, i was very happy, i couldn't wait to start building the ST, boy did i make a mistake, well there is nothing you can really buy except a lift kit and wheels unless you want to start cutting, the tires won't stay in balance, breaks suck, leather is cracking, shocks are squeeking so bad you have to drive with the windows up so know one will know whos driving it, and im not talking a small squeek, it sounds like two 500lbs people making love on a 20 yr old box spring!, so non the less im very disappointed with my sport trac, after wanting one for years, and im still too upside down to trade it in, im really considering letting it go back to ford, just to get rid of it!

Wind noise at high speeds around front window,[could be from window shield],

Great vehicle, had a Ranger before this. Very roomy. Some noise with the back window open. I installed window shields on every window along with mud flaps behind each wheel, They really make it look sporty. Overall very satisfied. Sound sytem is awesome.

I love this truck! My boyfriend and I bought this together, he loves it too!Has a great sporty look, plenty of room in the cab, love the leather seats, 6 cd disc changer, and the sunroof! Went from diring a Jeep Grand Cherokee to the Sport Trac and love it, cannot stand driving the Jeep anymore! I even get better gas mileage with the Sport Trac!

Front end problems brakes build quality Noise, noise, noise handling It's a piece of crap

I got this truck when no one was driving one. Everyone would pull up and give me a comment about it, generally all good comments too. This truck is used for work and has about 80,000 miles on it. It is a work horse and can pull large loads with ease. In the almost 3 years with this vehicle I dont think I ever felt safe driving it though. It has no traction whatsoever, even with new and quite expensive tires on it. This thing spun out of control at 9mph and cause almost 9,000 worth of damage. I am on a first name basis with the rental car agency because of the amount of time it's been in the shop. Although never for the powertrain. The interior is cheap-o and very dated. It's kinda a let down when the outside is so new and radical and the interior was the same dash since 1994. Not to mention the quality of the interior basically just sucked. In fact the quality of the car kinda sucked. One day I will find that squeak that has ben there since the day I got the car. The car is long enough for legroom in the fron and back seat but it is narrow so when a "husky' person is in the car you feel crowded. The car is always a mess because I cant store anything anywhere. It rides like crap, i feel nervouse going around turns because I think the damn thing is going to flip. If I hit a bump I put on my blinker because I am changing lanes whether I like it or not. Ok I think I should stop the bashing session, bottom line the company lease is up and I decided not to re-order the Sport Trac and instead ordered a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Comp G. I'll let you know in two years how it is when that lease is up.
