Strength:

It''s a strenth knowing that a bigger engine is an option (which I, :( ,did not take).

Weakness:

6.0 has no biz being in this truck. 2 weeks after buying truck, I had a "list" of things to get it into service for.

6.0 motor is INADEQUATE. Remember that if you go to the dealer to buy one - get the 8.1! Lean from my mistake. Overall, fair truck at best. Shoddy assembly tolerances make this thing noisy over the smallest of bumps. I could never imagine going on a long, dirt road, trek in this thing. I''d be deaf by the time I reached a destination.

Great truck!! No problems whatsoever. Tows good, looks good, drives nice, interior very comfortable, stereo system pretty good for a stock system and it gets excellent gas mileage regardless of how I drive it. This is my 3rd Chevy and I will definitely happy with their products, I would recommend this truck to anyone. As far as all the bad reviews go... Too bad for you, I like my truck.

Strength:

Looks, design

Weakness:

Service techs must not have experience to fix such minor irritating problems.

Looks good, used primarily for towing boat. Truck only has 18k miles and starting to develop more irritating failures. Tailight ratteling, worsening clunking in rear end going in/out of turns, dealer says they don''t hear it,wind noise rear passenger window or 3rd door, dealer can''t fix that either, sticky accelerator pedal, 3rd door difficult to shut, must be slammed, dealer says it''s no adjustment needed.

Absolutely unreliable.

This is by far the WORST truck Ive ever heard of. To date I have replaced/fixed: Brake switch Windshield cleaner fluid nozzles 380 Valve spring in Trans. Valve body Radiator Water Pump Intake manifold Gasket All belts and hoses Transmission Starter Alternator Several attempts were made to fix a mysterious noise behind the dash but the dealer claimed they could not hear it. All of this work was done AFTER the warranty period. Ive put over 5,000 dollars into this truck trying to keep it on the road. It has been in the shop more than 20 times.

Strength:

Clean lines, well equipped, super quiet, nice ride, off roads pretty well

Weakness:

paint scratches really easy, and well they have one of those gov.''s when you hit 97 mph

Very dependable, easy maintenance comes well equipped, but gear ration in the 4.3 6 cylinder isn''t that good around town. It has trouble going 45 mph and maintaing constant gear.

Strength:

Great pulling power...good engine & trans. Nice looking vehicle a step up from my small sport utility vehicle [Jeep].

Weakness:

lacks a good sound system...cheap door molding underneath doors...already coming off...Firestone tires [need I say more?] Some paint defects...the guy running the paint booth must of smoked his lunch the day my truck rolled in.

I like it...this truck does every thing I need it to do. I ordered this vehicle with the standard v8 engine. It pulls my boat like there is nothing behind it. The inside is very comfortable for my family of four. I get a lot of looks from Ford and Dodge truck owners. I got the truck through a supplier program offered by GM to Goodyear. I got the truck at 4 percent over GMS pricing...no haggling with the sales team...you been their I am sure. First Chevrolet in my family...so far so good...wish me luck.

Model Reviewed: 2500HD 8.1 liter 4x4

Strength:

8100 Series motor is strong but not as strong as Dodges V10 and barely stronger than my sons Ford 6.8 V10. You woud think that with all that displacement, this thing would be ALOT stronger than the other 2 trucks. Well, it isn't. GM claims better mileage than the V10 - my son is getting about 2 MPG better than I do on rural roads with a simularly equipped Super Duty.

Weakness:

1)8100 power claims from GM are suspect.
2)Interior door panels will hurt your ears if unloaded and on a dirt road - they rattle like crazy!
3)I do not think the independent front suspension is suited for heavy duty use, solid axel is needed in most sever situations.
4)Accusitory dealers looking to get out of warranty work.
5)Looks small next to the Dodge and Fords.
6)OK for consumers, not for ranchers or people that require heavy duty use.

Overall disappointment. I bought this truck for ranching, the front suspension arm bent when crossing a raveen with 4x4. My older, solid axel, Custom Deluxe never did this. The dealer wants to charge me for a portion of the repair. I've taken pictures of the raveen, if we have to go to court. I've got pictures of my neighbors Dodge and Toyota making the same crossing with no problem. As soon as this is fixed, I'm selling it.

Weakness:

Weak stereo (ordered top one)
Crap tires

The price was great. I helps to have a finance manager as a friend. Was too impatient ot wait for the Duramax. Too bad. the 6.0L gets 10-11 mpg with air/no-air towing/no-towing. It has tons of power, tows very well, even with BFG Mud T/A's on it. Brakes are great. Strong, stiff frame, easy to get into and out of. Clean engine compartment.

Dropped power steering pressure at 1540 miles on it, which powers the brakes. Brakes still worked, just weak. Steering was fine as long as it rolled. Dealer took longer than expectd to repair (2-days).

One complaint on Chevy though- They boast that all the strength is in the frame. I would like to see sunroof's as an availible option in the ext. cab. Needs a better streo/ tires/ decal opetion from Chevy.
