Strength:
nice interior roomy with the extended crew cab model
Weakness:
not much opitions on interior cloth (colors). I feel i got a lemon. Had more trouble with this truck than any other chevy i owned. I will not be buying another chevy. I have had the car in the shop already 9 times and its only a year old. The power locks went out several times , the airconditioner broke, fluid got into the break lines and i have never driven it off road or in high water, back plate come loose. Not pleased with car at all. Similar Products Used: blazer with no problems |

Strength:
V6 is powerful, yet can seem thirsty if your heavy on the loud pedal. Average 20mpg overall through all driving conditions. Ride gets better if you haul something.
Weakness:
Drivetrain clunk. Notorious on ALL S10's. Even my 92 2wd had it. Cheesy seat handles. Goodyear tires are average at best, not good in Michigan winters. Good truck. The 4x4 comes with the V6, which is good. Auto is smooth, although I hope the Colorado coming out gets rid of the drivetrain noise. Similar Products Used: 1986 S10 4x4 1992 S10 2wd |

Strength:
Good gas mileage, engine is still in good shape, ride is smooth when the road is smooth, hauls cargo without too much trouble
Weakness:
Engine lacks power (particularly up hills), brakes squeal for no apparent reason I bought this truck used in 1998, it had about 28,000 miles on it. Now has over 100,000 and the only major thing to go wrong so far is it needed a $600 transmission job. Outside of that, it's a pretty nice truck. Not much in the way of power only being the 2.2L 4 cylinder, but it gets me around. AC still blows cold, engine still runs quiet and smooth. One minor issue is that the brakes always squeal, regardless whether the pads are new, slightly worn, very worn, etc. Another is that the automatic transmission makes a scraping noise when accelerating uphill, but neither of these is a big concern. I had to have the front end and both balljoints on the driver's front wheel replaced, but that was after the vehicle had broken 90,000 miles. I also recently had to replace the catalytic convertor, thanks to numerous local potholes.....which also caused my spare tire winch to break. Cargo hauling is alright, as long as you're not looking to carry huge heavy objects....I've carried a couch and various other furniture items in it without a problem. |

engine nice interior
Weakness:
not too great on gas I have only owned this truck for a few months, but I love almost everything about it. The 4.3 liter vortec engine gives me all the power i need and then some. This is the last year chevy is making this truck so I know it is the last one I will ever own. thats kind of sad. Similar Products Used: none |

4 cyl, 5 spd, strong little truck dependable
Weakness:
wipers storage ( but it is reg cab) tires ( original too small ) This little truck has been good to me. I bought the truck in 1998 used with 9000 miles on it. Regular maintnance has been done through out the years, no major problems till this year. The truck has over 136000 miles on it and it was due for some major work. It turned out to be the water pume and some seals. Lillte problems were the lighter would not work at times ( I can live with that )and the wind shield wipers would go off and not work, but that is now a recall on the truck. He has been a good little truck for me. I will keep it till it dies... |

It has power
Weakness:
4wd is undependable, paint sucks, front end sucks....This is truly a disposable vehicle....The only problem is won't live as long as the payments Never again. I bought a 4 wheel drive but rarely was able to use it. It would never engage when I really needed it. "Repairs" by the dealer would only last 1-2 days untill I got tired of bringing it back or forgot about it in the summer. It needed a new front end after 2 years. ALL the paint on the hood started peeling after 1.5 years. Heater blows hot air in the summer. Front end started making noise again and abs light is on. I should have bought a ford ranger for less money and more options. I would never buy a car from Dover Auto World again. I traded this piece of crap yesterday during a snow storm. |

Strength:
Power 2.5 Liter engine is diehard. Way better than 2.8 V6 joke if you ask me. Can handle anything you throw at it and come back for more. Tranny strong but would recommend 5 speed for better fuel economy.
Weakness:
Not many but every thing has a weakness. Doors tend to sag, rear end is a one wheel wonder, and stock radio and speakers suck. Bought truck from friend for $100 bucks. Had TBI 2.5 liter engine with 4 speed manual tranny. Was bare bones truck with no ac, power steering, power brakes, nothing power on it. But was one of the most reliable car or truck ive ever owned. Had it about 3 weeks when radiator got hole in it. Tried to fix my self but that did'nt work. Ran another 21/2 months before finally giving up. But in that time ran awesome as long as did'nt rod on it it ran cool enough not to notice the leak. I would recommend this truck to anyone who likes beating things and not having to spend money fixing things that break. Good truck to rig anything and everything. Strength:
IT REALLY RIDES GOOD AND IS VERY QUITE ON THE ROAD.THE 4WD WORKED GREAT IN THE SNOW SO FAR THIS SEASON,BUT JUST OK IN MUD (I NEED DIFFERENT TIRES).GETS AROUND 20 MPG, AND 17 MPG WHEN PULLING THE BOAT.A BETTER SOUND SYSTEM WOUD BE NICE.
Weakness:
IT HAS A RATTLE NOISE AROUND 2000 RPMS,IT'S GOING BACK TO THE SHOP SOON TO HAVE THE PROBLEM REPAIRED.IT ALSO HAS A SMALL LEAK ON THE HOSES GOING TO AND OUT OF THE OIL FILTER. PURCHASED IN JAN 2003 WITH 46700 MILES ON IT.I TESTED THE S10 LS EXT CAB 2WD WITH THE 2.2L AND WAS NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE ENGINE NOISE OR THE POWER OF THE LITTLE ENGINE.I THEN DROVE THE S10 LS 4WD EXT CAB WITH THE 4.3L MOTOR AND WAS AMAZED WITH THE POWER AND LITTLE NOISE WHEN I KICKED IT DOWN.THE 4WD ALSO RODE AND BRAKED MUCH BETTER THAN THE 2WD.IT HAULS MY 1000 POUND BOAT WITH LITTLE EFFORT.THE EXT CAB IS NOT REALLY MADE FOR ANY PASSENGER BIGGER THAN 5'TALL 110 LBS,BUT IS GREAT TO CARRY SMALL ITEMS. Strength:
Reliable, good looking, good on gas (for a truck)
Weakness:
SLOW and the driver side handle that you adjust the seat with broke. I bought my truck with 100,000 miles on it, two years old. It still has the original clutch in it. I have had NOTHING wrong with it yet. I now have over 150,000 miles on it. My only concern is I wish it was 4 wheel drive. |

Strength:
Great power. Have beaten small sports cars off the line on many occasion. Love the low end torque. Pulled out bushes with this truck.
Weakness:
Damn drive's side door leakage. Cannot hold a gas pump all the way open. The gas backs up too quickly and shuts to pump off. Must be too narrow of a goose neck into the gas tank. Does not allow fast filling. I am leasing so I am not totally comitted to this truck. I will start off by saying that I love the engine in this truck. I pulled my 3000lb boat with no problem. I worked the truck and am glad I had a 4x4. I have the extended cab with the dark blue ex. paint and a nice set of factory rims on it,so I have gotten my fair share of compliments on the appearence. The factory also gave this truck a set of Goodyear Wrangler RT/S tires. Much better than the standard Uniroyal TigerPaw garbage. It goes through gas quick if I am quick on take offs or average over 70mph on the highway. Nobody ever said 4 wheel drive was cheap though! I have not had any major problems with the truck yet but I will only have put on 36K, so it is not a real test. The only problem I have with the truck thus far is the standard leaky driver's side door. I think the doors just tend to drop after a while and no matter how hard you slam (which may be the cause) the door it always leaks. Kind of a pain if you have to use a cell phone.
