Strength:

GOOD ON GAS, I HAVE THE 2.2. SPORTY LOOKING TRUCK TO BE ALL STOCK EQUIPMENT AND IT HAS A NICE RIDE WHEN TAKING LONG TRIPS ON THE HIGHWAY.

Weakness:

ENGINE NEEDS MORE HORSES. THE TRUCK HAS PROBLEMS RUNNING AFTER IT RAINS DUE TO THE DISTRIBITOR BEING MOUNTED SO LOW ON THE ENGINE. I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY THAT COST ME $200.00 + TOWING,PARTS,LABOR GAVE IT A GRAND TOTAL OF $575.81 I DID NOT EXPECT TO PAY THAT MUCH. STOCK SPEAKERS SUCK BADLY AND DO MAKE A CRICKET SOUNDING NOISE IN THE BACK PILLARS AT LOW BASS TONES. I WILL UPGRADE TO BETTER ONES IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK IS MAKING A "KLUNKING" SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEELS TO THE LEFT SO I WILL HAVE TO GET THAT CHECKED OUT. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP UP ON THE OIL CHANGES BECAUSE THE TUCK WILL HAVE TROUBLE KEEP IT'S POWER IF YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE OIL ON A REGULAR BASIS.

DISPITE THE MONEY I HAD TO SHELL OUT FOR THE CLUTCH,I LIKE THE TRUCK. WHEN I BOUGHT THE TRUCK IT CAME WITH A BED LINER AND BED COVER THAT MATCHES THE TRUCKS PAINT JOB SO GETTING AFTER MARKET PARTS FOR THE TRUCK ARE VERY EASY, YOU CAN LET YOUR IMAGINATION RUN WILD. I PLAN TO MAKE SOME ALTERATIONS ON THE TRUCK THAT WILL MAKE IT BETTER TO MY PREFERENCE. SO IF YOUR IN THE MARKET FOR A SMALL PICK UP THAT'S GOOD ON GAS HAS GREAT STOCK STYLING AND EASY TO UPGRADE, THIS IS THE TRUCK FOR YOU.

Strength:

plenty of power with a 4.3, fast, good in mud, still looks real nice, i have known all the owners,

Weakness:

box is cocked low in the back right, small rust bubbles starting on the box(will be fixed this summer) a little compact

i have always loved chevys and with 2 more s-10s in the family and many of them around i know they are a good truck, small enough for a personal vechile but still usuable as a truck for construction, hauling wood or hauling snowmobiles and ATV's. i have never been stuck, and for what i have pulled it was never under powered. it looks good, and runs great so what more do ya need.

Similar Products Used:

after driving many trucks(a dodge dakota, a ranger, a RAM, and other full sizes) i have come to see that for its class it is one of the best in pulling, muding, racing, and for the ranger and dakota(owned by firends) it is the oldests by 5 years and is the best looking and running one

Strength:

It has been everything I've needed to be, a toy, and racer and a hauler.
I like the 2.8 but would like the 4.3 better. It still can haul though and the 5 speed man. helps me get very good gas milage.

Weakness:

The typical things it is starting to rust around the box and the back of the cab and I replaced the front fenders

I like this truck i has got me were I'm going it handles well in all conditions it's fun in the snow and I hasn't really cost me much since I bought it. I only had to replace the clutch. A friend has one and it has over 200,000 miles on it and still going strong. Great first truck and for kids wo want 4 wheel drive and not big insurance

Strength:

Good 2wd light duty hauler. Good quality build with very little maintanence. Good ride as trucks go.
Great winter starter.

Weakness:

Severly underpowered 2.8L V-6. Motor always seems to labor too hard. Automatic with overdrive constantly shifting at highway speeds. Gas guzzler at 10mpg city/19 higway.
Weak seat backs, bending backwards with age.

Despite it's popularity, I would not recommend it for any highway use with the 2.8 weak six. It's been a good little lawn bag/bicycle family hauler for the 13 years we've owned it. Overdrive auto transmission cannot hold it's own when facing any breezes on the highway. Body has no rust yet, but paint is fading. Interior has held up well, except for week seat backs that are bending backwards with age.

Strength:

Very attractive. Lots of power. Quite comfortable. Wide open space for modifications. I personally added an exhaust, air intake, throttle, lowered, and stereo system for a nice ride (relatively cheaper compared to DODGE DAKOTAS/CHEV SILVERADOS/etc) ;) BUT!!!! READ ON!!!!!

Weakness:

GAS HOG!!!!! I only get 15 in the city and at least 21 in the hwy...and arent air intakes and exhaust supposed to get more MPG!??? Plus i really feel all that "Extra" Power...I'm supposed to be in the 200hp-range...
PLUS--I had my brakes replaced at 15K miles (all city driving until recently) AND
Gluely stuff from driver side VISOR/MIRROR, got unglued...
and the PAINT seems to be kinda cheap...i've several minor scratches into actually paint chips...and oh, have i mentioned its a gas hog!??

Well i honestly love my truck. I have invested so much $$ into it with the additions I have added (and I do plan to do more, maybe)...it has okay amount of power but i'd rather trade in my power for better mileage (perhaps gotten a 4-cyclinder instead), but all in all im happy with my truck...like i said, i do plan to buy a fairly-priced sports car (like the integra type R) within the next 5 years (prob when I turn 25 or graduate college)....i dont use it much for carrying heavy loads (thats why i lowered it) but its a great vehicle (CHEVY PRIDE) for a high school teen as their vehicle or even a professional adult who likes truck in a compact fashion...

This is my very first vehicle...bought it brand new and do expect to sell it very soon (once I have more money) and plan to buy an ACURA INTEGRA TYPE-R (any remarks?!) for that same year/model.

Strength:

Very comfortable seats, excellent gauges, decent gas mileage with 2.2 and 5 speed, good handling on smooth roads, reliable

Weakness:

Stock tires perform poorly in bad weather, a couple rattles

This truck's been good to me so far. At 40k, it has never seen the shop.

Mine is pretty basic... 4cyl 5 speed 2wd extended cab. Alloys, air, cassette, LS package, and that's about it. I paid less than 14k for it, not bad.

I drive 100 miles a day in it and it has a surprisingly comfortable highway ride. Around town, the ride is a little rougher. It's nice to drive... everything is layed out well and there's plenty of spaces to put stuff. You have to be careful in wet or icy weather, as the stock tires give little grip. They are lasting forever so it's difficult to replace them when they are only like 1/2 worn.

The 2.2 liter engine is perfectly adequate for basic tasks, good for commuting, but load it down with people and cargo and you'll wish you had the 6cylinder. This has happened to me when pulling stuff through the hills but normally, I can't complain.

It might not be as nice as a Toyota, but it is a better value, so overall I am pleased with my truck.

Strength:

This truck, equipped with a 4 cyl. 5 speed will sh*t and git when I need it to. It also helps when you have a couple speed mods too.

Weakness:

The shifter is ugly and too fat. Another thing is little squeaks here and there. Plus there are no sites on the internet for good modifications.

Overall this is a really great truck. Good gas mileage. Good throttle response. ZQ8 Sport Suspension handles excellent. I think that a bunch of us Ohio S-10 owners should start a club like "TEAM S-10 OHIO."

Model Reviewed: GMC S15 Extened Cab

Strength:

Very dependable with very few but cheap repairs. The kids love the back seats. It is very good on gas. The 'no frills' aspect makes it cheap and easy to maintain.

Weakness:

As usual, the box is falling apart with the rest of the body not far behind....but I can't complain since it is 12 years old. It is a little under powered and the truck was abused a little before I got it. I had to strip the useless 'ground effects' plastic body moldings off of it (all it did was hold salt and sand against the body).

I love this little truck. It has given me very little grief compared to other 'junk' I've owned. Like I said, with no A/C or Power Steering or any other fancy options, this 'no frills' pick-up is easy and cheap to work on and fix. It has the carrying capacity I expected and handles like a pick-up. Its really too bad that new cheap boxes for trucks are so hard to come by. The bucket seats are comfortable to sit in and it is simply fun too drive with the 5-speed. Power has been sacrificed for gas mileage..but I can live with that. The engine still runs clean even after 200,000km to the point where the oil takes a week to get dirty after its changed. About the most expensive thing I've had to fix is a new clutch, a new 'in-tank' electric fuel pump and some minor transmission work. I think the truck will outlast me if I can keep patching and holding the overall body together. I would recommend this little jewel to anyone who needs a small but handy set of wheels thats cheap to maintain and operate.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to a previous GM truck I use to own, this is a typical GM truck. IT drives and handles like a pick-up but is small enough to live with in the city. It is fun to drive and the manual transmission helps to make up a little for the lack of power.

Strength:

Power - goes like snot with the 2wd, automatic trans, 4.3L setup
design - ip and seating looks way better than comparable fords or dodges
Looks - I have the Indigo Blue (GMC Sonoma SLS) and it looks great when clean

Weakness:

wish it sat a bit higher
brakes are bad - feel very soft in any hard brake
not much room behind seats for even small trips

I have had no problems yet but I only have about 28kms on the machine. It sucks the gas back like a whino does his liqour but I am accustomed to driving a 4cylinder Sunbird.

Overall I am really happy with it and knock on wood I will feel the same way in a years time

Strength:

Speed, power, good burnouts, loud!, good in mud.

Weakness:

Horrid gas mileage, oil leaks, belt problems, noisy and rattles alot, poor electrical system, lights suck.

Good vehicle to have but at about 165,000 miles on the body and about 6,000 on a newer 4.3 liter V-6 many small problems have begun to arise and they are adding up. Very good on and off the road. Handles, drives and behaves well as long as engine is taken care of when the truck begins to pile up the miles. The Cooling system, among other things MUST be upgraded if you want to add some horsepower to the vehicle. Overall a good truck that can be driven in the city, on the highway, and in the country without difficulty.

Similar Products Used:

Much stronger engine than all other midsized pickup trucks. Also better off road than comparitive vehicles.
