Strength:
There are not strenghs to this truck. I have had one problem after the other since i have owned this truck.
Weakness:
At 12,000 miles i had to have a heater coil. At 20,000 I had to have a catalayst converter. Then i had to have a computer put in. I have had 2 transmissions in 4 years. This second one is not even 2 years old. It was put in by Chevrolet. Thank god for warranties, but now it is out. I have has to change the battery. The a/c went out. The alternator went out. Changed the brakes at 9,000 miles. The rear pin seal was leaking. Had to repair that. You know when to change the oil. You have no power. This vehicle sucks. I still owe 9 months on it and cant even drive it. I pay 400 a month truck payments. Chevrolet s-10 stink. Do not buy a 4 cylinder I have had so many problems i could not rate this truck. It does not even touch the chart Similar Products Used: my husband has a ford taurus with 205,000 miles on it drives like a charm. we have only replaced the waterpump, normal wear and tear on tires.I love the car |

Good Gas Mileage, Good Paint, really comfy and supportive Leather bucket seats, easy to read gauges, cheap to buy/run. 3 power outlets, and interiror lighting.
Weakness:
Transmission from hell, underpowered, cheap plastic dash,. No, I wouldn't recommend it. Go for the Toyota or Nissan. Similar Products Used: Nissan King Kab, |

4 cylinder
Strength:
Plenty of room inside. Great ride. Comfortable. Great Price. Great gas mileage. Nice styling. My dogs especially liked the third door(nice). The handling is also pretty darn good.
Weakness:
My biggest gripe is that the 4 cylinder has no power whatsoever. Did not like the TigerPaw uniroyals at all ( have had better experience with Goodyear tires). I thought the price was reasonable. It is a well built truck. I am very pleased with the total package. I wasnt a GM fan before, but this truck has changed my mind. It does everything that I expect a small truck to do. If you are going to get one , get the V6. Similar Products Used: Ford Ranger , Ford F-150. Hands down it slaughters the Ranger. Kinda hard to beat the F-150 however. |

Strength:
I like the power of the 4.3 I have no problem passing anybody and the transmission shifts real good. I have no problem pegging out the speedometer or running 10.50 in the 1/8 0f a mile.
Weakness:
The brakes really are not that good. I paid 5,800 in 99. I have had no problems out of and it has 132,000 miles on the motor it also goes in the good for a two wheel drive. Similar Products Used: 1987 Dodge D-50 no comparison. |

S-10 ZR-2
Strength:
Great looks, strong 4.3 but should offer V8 option, stiff shifting auto will snap your head back with a little modifications. Comfy seats and lots of after market add ons out there.
Weakness:
Should have a true locker in the rear, not a limited slip. The 90 mph limiter on it, I know it will do way over that but the limiter will be bypassed very soon. If it were not the ZR-2 package I don't think that I would like it as much as I do now. But if I was to buy a new one I would not spend the $25,000 on up price tag for it. But over all its definitly worth the price I paid for it. It is very aggresive looking sporty and will leave a lot of people sitting at the stop light. The four wheel drive works buitifly too. No complaints from this S-10 owner. Similar Products Used: 1988 Ranger 4X4, and 1992 Dodge Dakota by far this is the best over all. Although the Dakota was no slouch. |

S10 ZR2
Strength:
Just about everything on the truck is great. I love the factory lift, tires and the powerful 4.3.Extended cab is perfect for putting cargo into without making the truck look too long. Good stopping power on the brakes and Heating/AC works good.
Weakness:
The stock speakers are really bad, but being into car audio anyway I didn't plan on keeping them from the start. The back end is pretty light on the ZR2, so cutting sharp corners even at slow speeds cause the tires to chirp a bit. Gas mileage isn't the greatest, but that's not what I bought the truck for. Got it through a GM supplier discount program so my price was good. Has 7500 miles and haven't seen any problems starting to develop. Excellent truck overall. Similar Products Used: None |

Tires lasted 80K and 99K miles.
Weakness:
Engin noise from day one - but it's a four banger 135K miles and only one major problem. It's a 4 cylinder 2.2 - it's not a big block it is not powerful - learn to drive it. I pass sports cars all the time. I'm very happy with my purchase. People complain about bad brakes and pads - I havent noticed and brake pads do wear out. Learn to replace the pads yourself. Strength:
the s series trucks are the perfect trucks for transplanting a v8 into. They have a strong chassis, adequate room for a v8 monster, are pretty damn good looking, plus they are made by chevy, what else could you want?
Weakness:
chevy should have offered the s series trucks with a small block chevy v8 when they were first made, that would have saved alot of people alot of time. Purchased it from a local construction company for $500. It was all banged up from extensive use and abuse. Drove it around for a while. Then I pulled the tiny V6 motor. pulled off the body, narrowed the rear chassis, swaped the ten bolt rear axle for a 12 bolt rear axle out of a camaro. Positraction, 4.56 to 1 rear gear ratio. dumped a 350cubic inch chevy v8. slapped on alluminum edelbrock heads, edelbrock camshaft, edelbrock victor jr. intake manifold, holley 650cfm carb, hooker headers, moroso super cool can. then body worked the old construction abused body. painted it. mopar hood scoop, home made spoiler(really gives it some downforce!). mickey thompson 18 inch rear sportsmans. e.t. front runners, super T10 four speed transmission, hays clutch, centerline rims. mooneyes rear mounted fuel cell. custom carpet job, four point roll cage, custom dash board, auto meter gauges, tilt steering, bucket seats, RCI racing harnesses. Spent about $10,000 on the truck, it does 0-60 in 4.5 secs(with the 18inch mickeys spinning), does the quarter mile in 11.73 seconds(with tires spinning all the way through 3rd gear), looks freaking mean as hell, turns heads every where I take it, never been beat by another sport truck, only been beat twice by cars(a mustang g.t. with slicks and supercharger and a 383 stroker camaro with NOS), earns complete respect at local illegal drags...what can i say, i love it! Similar Products Used: ford ranger. the ford ranger is also not a bad v8 transplant. i've seen some with 5.0 and 351ci ford motors running blowers do the quarter in 10,9, and 8 seconds. the only down side with the ranger is, come on its made by ford. also have seen nissan hard body trucks with v8's. even some toyota and mazda trucks... |
