Strength:

Powerful, comfortable, gas milage, 4wheel system, kids love it, good for hauling, looks sharp

Weakness:

NONE

I have owned a Ford before and I will never go back. Chevy has proven themselves to me and I will continue to purchase Chevy's and hopefully pass that down to my boys. I have found that they have great capabilities when it comes to hauling and power. They also have superior looks.

Easy to find Performance Parts. Strong motor. Tough as nails. Thick heavy bupmers. Looks Great. Gets the girls attension, and the COPS!!!

Weakness:

THe front split bench seat is like a park bench. The automatic transmission is a little wierd under hard 1st to 2nd shifts.

My dad baught it new off the lot in 1988. we have had it since. He put on over 200,000 miles before he gave it to me. I added 3 inchh pipes/flowmaster (no catalytic converter) K/N, computer chip, throttle body spacer, Posi rearend, It will out run anything on the street and it has never been rebuilt. THese motors will out last disels motors.

Great Truck...5.7 liter V8....

Weakness:

Not enough brake for the weight of the vehicle..Replace front pads at 10000...rear shoes are close to being time for change...

Could have used larger rotors...perhaps will upgrade myself.

Welcome to California Emissions...had a stuck fuel injector at 6000...extened warranty to 100000 from GM, something to do with Emission Control....Like I said, Welcome to Cali..

26500....Lets just say I'm driving this one into the ground...Is it snowing yet?

Model Reviewed: Cheyenne 1500 Ext. Cab 4x4

Strength:

Unlike my former vehicles both Body and Paint Holding up well- No Rusting. The engine (5.7L-350)is quick and responsive, has very good horsepower, with the added help of a K&N Air filter- it only got better. Awesome power in 4-wheel drive low and high ranges! Truck was originally used to haul prior owners fishing boat.
I bought my truck used 8 months ago and at that time it had 44500 miles on it, since then I've put on an additional 23,000 miles. What else can i say-- I love driving my truck!

Weakness:

Only problems so far have been a warn UV joint, which was covered under dealers extended warranty ($12 part) and the break drums were a little rusted due to prior owners saltwater boat launches!

1995 Chevy Cheyenne 4x4 Extended Cab Shortbed with automatic 5.7L (350) V8 Manufactured at G.M.'s Ontario, Canada Assembly Plant
Bought 2nd hand with 44,500 original miles on it for $16,500-
Vehicle came with Tint windows, Running Boards, Special Detailing, Remote Starter/Alarm, Alloy wheels, bedliner, Big Willy Bedrails and rock deflector. All these great little extras and for a great price.

This Truck has it all- For those that love to drive and live by their ride- Its a customizers dream- so many bolt ons and options for that special detailing project. Its got the style, the speed and the power you all want. Why powerbreak it, when all you need is a lead foot- from a dead takeoff.
For those looking for a workhorse- this truck is it- its a people mover and a boat hauler, a off-roader and a grocery getter all rolled up in one.
Are you looking for a realiable truck, that still holds its value after 5 years- then the Chevy/GMC lot is where you better be heading!
Ive tried the rest- now ive moved on up and grew up to the BEST!
This from a former live and die by F*O*R*D "boy".

Strength:

5.7 Liter Engine has good power. Gas mileage not bad at 17mpg combined.
Nice paint.

Weakness:

Terrible shifting transmission. Tranny blew up at 30,000 miles. Replaced under warranty. Two radios have gone out. Repaced Windsheild wiper motor circuit board 3 times now. Dashboard is cheapest built junk I've ever seen. Brakes always wear unevenly and eat front pads regularly. Lots of problems with the electronic switches and such.

After owning this truck for 5 years now, I can't really recommend it. The first two years was the worst problem truck I've ever owned, and GM acted like they didn't want to help me. It has been less a problem truck these last 3 years, but still annoying problems do occasionaly crop up.

engine is a complete pooch. Tires and wheels suck.Doesn't shift into 4x4 on the fly all the time. Need a city block to turn around. GM was extremely difficult to deal with. I had to go to arbitration to get them to repurchase this pile. Looking at Ford now.

Worst truck I ever owned. Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Strength:

not much of anything

Weakness:

horrible gas mileage, next truck (if I ever have one) WILL be a Toyota! really bad build quality over all, rough ride (maybe I don't get this truck thing?) too loud... what's the deal with Chevy's always putting out a puff of smoke in the morning? and of course it used too much oil...I was ready to sell it after a week of ownership

maybe I shouldn't write reviews for trucks since I hate them so much...but I guess if you are in the market for an American made pick-up, this one's as good as any...but as for me, I'll just keep the sports car...

only truck I've ever owned, but it doesn't seem any better than the Fords or Dodges I've encountered... Toyota's seem more reliable

Strength:

Excellent power from a 4.3 L V6 - more than my old 318 V8. Good reliabilty; I've added 7000 in 6 months and it now has 68,000 miles on it with no problems.

Weakness:

Front brake pads wear a little quicker than normal. Transmission has problems under moderate acceleration - it shifts too early and you have to give it more gas to pull out of a slump.

Easy to increase value of this one - I added power locks and windows plus keyless entry/remote start - it cost me $300 for all of that (and about 6 hours of work) and added around $1000 to the retail value. Next comes a power rear sliding window.

Similar Products Used:

1985 Dodge Ramcharger - traded this one in for the Chevy - the 318 V8 had 273000 miles on it, and the only major problems I had with it were the starter, wheel bearings, and fuel strainer.

Strength:

Good looks and dependability also I like the uncluttered underhood configuration especialy when compared to the big Ford 460.

Weakness:

Poor air flow through the engine causing poor performance above 2000RPM

I bought this truck to tow a 27-foot 5th wheel trailer with a slide out. My previous truck was a 1971 chev with a 350 motor and I felt I needed more power to handle my load as well as a club cab to haul more people. This truck is a 1992 K2500 HD 454CI 410 gears-I thought it would do the trick. It had power under 2000 rpm but lost it after that. I put a Banks Powerpack System on it and now am very happy-it now runs and pulls strong on up to 4000rpm. I have 117,000 miles on it now and it runs better than new and looks good. I have had the wiper board replaced at my cost and have had the AC unit replaced and converted to 134Freon. The bucket seat backs are very loose. I would buy another Chevy truck. I had my 71 for 30 years.

Similar Products Used:

My old 350 was pretty much on par with this 454 until I installed the powerpack system. I have tried fords and they have had the same weakness.
