Strength:

350 Vortec is absolutely bulletproof. Have used Mobil 1 since breakin and I routinely get 18-20mpg on the highway regardless of what I''m towing. More than enough power. Actually ran a Chrysler 300 off the road when the guy tired to beat me off the line getting past me where the lanes merged. Not bad for a 4,000+ lb. truck. Styling. The new offerings from Ford and Dodge are hideous. Interior is roomy and the seat fabric is extremely thick and well made.

Weakness:

Brakes, The truck is heavy. GM could have done a little more engineering here as it takes quite some effort to haul her down to a stop. But then all GM''s leave a lot to be desired in the braking department. Rear End as previously mentioned. Those things simply shouldn''t happen. What bean counter came up with the idea to put a magnet on the cover anyway? Ever hear of using a magnetic drain/fill plug?

Very reliable truck until it hit the 80k mark. Then had to rebuild the rear end. Why? The magnet which is glued to the differential cover lost its adhesive properties (not quite sure how a magnet cannot stick to a steel cover on its own), but the result was the magnet bouncing around which required all new bearings but thankfully the gears were ok.

MAXIE PRICE CHEVROLET is the worst in the world.

MAXIE PRICE CHEVROLET-OLDSMOBILE, a dealer in Monroe is sucks. I drove 60 milesfrom atlanta to this little town just because I saw their ads at ajc.com. They had a very attractive price. But after I two days neigatiation, they told me the price is wrong. I need pay 3000 more. Don''t go there and don''t trust them.

Strength:

Mileage is OK. I tow a 27 ft RV, 5th wheel and at 65 mph I get 9 mpg. Not towing I get 15 hwy at 75 mph and have not measured city. Power is good for only a 6.5 liter diesel.

Weakness:

Engine not big enough/powerful enough for the long haul towing. Doesn''t take much hill to slow me down. Tends to run hotter than I like, but has not overheated.

6.5 liter diesel with automatic transmission. I have had it for 4 years, it had 46k miles when I got it, it now has 125k. Transmission is starting to slip. Had roughly $2500 in front end work, $1500 in brakes. AC was great the first three years, this summer I will have to spend another $1000 for that. So, I paid $15,000 for a 4 year old truck, spent $5k, so drove it for 79k miles for $20,000. I still expect to get a few more years out of it. Just now getting a few rattles. Overall I am happy, and will buy another chevy or GMC (they are the same you know).

Strength:

Power,comfort,ground clearance,cab comfort.

Weakness:

Brakes has always felt kind of like a sponge, from day one. Like to see tougher paint, scuffs easily.

I''ve got the Z71 series and I love this truck. Has lots of power and the ride is like a car. I''ve hauled a 24 foot fifth wheel trailer and it pulls it with the best of them. I had to put a new tranny in it but it was my fault. I forgot to pull it out of OD when hauling the trailer, but warranty covered the new one. Has 103,000 miles and going strong.

Strength:

Ride (for a HD truck), cabin noise, interior layout.

Weakness:

Engine not as strong as expected, rough idle, engine knock, gas mileage.

I own the new Silverdo (Crew Cab) 2500HD 4x4, 4:10 rear end, with the 6.0L gas engine. I selected the truck because of the engine size. The truck drives great. However, the engine has developed a knock when starting cold and after towing a boat. The gas mileage averaged about 12 at first, but it has dropped to 10.5. It has also started to idle rough.

Model Reviewed: Silverado 1/2 Ton

Strength:

Good Paint, Good Looking, Interior in Great Condition, No Rust, Runs Great, Tranny in good condition (Original 700 R4 Tranny, which is supprising), 4Wheel Drive works awsome, AC Works (Freezes you out), in the winter you have to roll down the windows sometimes because the heater burns you out, cruise works, all factory speakers still work, power windows and locks still work. For its age, i think its the best around.

Weakness:

The only thing thats has had to been done to this pickup is put in new ball joints, and put in new plugs, plug wires, rotor and cap, pretty minor if you ask me, that stuff is bound to go out through normal wear and tear, and the plugs, wires, rotor and cap, you have to do that so they run......so there really isn't any weaknesses to the pickup.

Its only got a 305, and I have 32x11.5" tires on it, and that 305 can still lay a patch of rubber down on the asphault, it can pull just as well as a 350, the original motor and tranny have 170,000 miles on them, and nothing has went wrong. This pickup could put any ford or dodge to shame. Its about to get a brand new 350, to help out when I put my 6" lift and 35x14.5" tires on. I'm a firm chevy man, and I believe everyone should own one, me and my step dad never have problems with ours, their built to last, and they do last.
