Strength:

Very good acceleration, especially with 3" exhaust and hiflow cat, also K&N filter helps out alot. good timeless looks. extended cab is nice to have as well.

Weakness:

Weak cruising power (especially up hills), tanny doesn't seem to know if it wants the Torque converter on or off. rough braking (notchy) no head rests...

This truck is very reliable, at 200,000 miles it still starts up every morning and charges at 16volts, never have to worry about the battery. I got the 305 engine that fell short of my expectations. I got in one accident and the truck took the damage well without any injury to the passengers, good strong body, very safe truck

Weakness:

clutch transfer case abs gas mileage but its a 454 cant complain to much

i love my truck it has the 454 which has more power than any thing around. i have pulled tractors and semi trucks with it. i having problems with the four wheel drive and getting a little bit of chatter with the clutch (replaced the clutch last year)(dealer worksmanship)the ride is awsome feels like car. i have more power than the tires can handle, i burn tires even when i dont try. i did have problems with the brakes, but fixed it when my friends drive my truck they are amazed with the power that it has. somedays i forget the power it has. i had the wiper relay and the abs problem recall fixed by the dealer. this is an awsome truck. to much power i love it

Model Reviewed: 1500 V6

Strength:

It's a Chevy. It might have alot wrong with it but it will usually get you there and give you a chance to get it fixed. Uh, the pewter color is nice, it's dirt colored, just like my two mile long driveway. :-) V6 has surprising power. I pulled a horsetrailer with it when our 3/4 ton was down and it did ok, until I had to STOP at a light. Ghads. Vortec V6 engine is reliable, 17-20 mpg city/hwy driving isn't too shabby.

Weakness:

BRAKES, FRONT END SUCKS. We have rebuilt the brakes and they still are terrible, spongy, pull to one side. The front end has to be rebuilt frequently. I finally used 3/4 ton front end parts on replacment. DON'T put heavy ranch bumpers on this truck's front end, you will RUIN your front end. We have deer everywhere, and they are necessary if you don't want to replace your grill often, but it will cost you mechanically. My front end SAGGED, you could see it from a distance. Why does Chevy put the fuel pump in the gas tank instead of out of the gas tank??? With all this, for the money, we will buy more Chevys. :-)

Cute truck, I have enjoyed it, but it has nickeled and dimed me to death. Thank Goodness, a good friend is shade tree mechanic. Otherwise, I would be in the poor house. I drive it 75 miles a day, commuting to work. 4 miles a day is spent driving on our terrible ranch road.

Limited slip rear, reliability, 1 ton running gear, fun and mean looking, easy to work on, cheap replacement parts.

Weakness:

gas guzzler(14mpg), but on par with comparable vehicle today.

These old chevys are great trucks. I purchased this truck several years ago and it is proved to be the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned(other than my 82 honda cm450 motorcycle). I know that it has 240k miles on it, but I don''t know what has been previously replaced.

Model Reviewed: Chevrolet C20 Truck

Strength:

Good old truck. Any chevy truck from the 70''s or 60''s is a solid vehicle. Bullet proof construction. These trucks will run forever. Most of the snowplow rigs and farm trucks around here are of this brand and vintage.

Weakness:

8 miles per gallon. Prone to rust if you don''t take care of them.

This truck was bought new by my dad in 1977. I still remember being with him at the dealership as a little kid. Later I bought it from him when I turned 16. The truck was in my family for over 20 years. Unfortunately I had to let it go for a measly sum which I won''t even say because I needed the money to live on when I got out of the military. This truck was the most solid, depandable, and well-built vehicle I have ever owned. The original enamel paint was like new even after twenty years! Of course it had seen its share of new starters, alternators, brakes and such. Nothing abnormal for a daily driver.

Model Reviewed: C1500 Ext.Cab Short Box (Silverado)

Strength:

350, 255hp of brute strength Smooth transmission Gas mileage (See summary) Rugged looks Tinting rear view mirror, handy!

Weakness:

Cerpentine belt tensioner Small extended cab. Stiff and meant for small children, or one adult with legs lying across. No chimes? I''ve accidently left my lights on a few times. No sliding rear window. Was this even an option?

Nice truck. A smooth ride with plenty of power. Leaves other trucks of similar powertrain well behind. I would even take it over the new chevs. Racing my buddy in his ''01 185hp 5.3L up to 65mph, blew him off the line by 30feet and ended the same way. Being my first truck, test drove the Ford and Ram of similar features, no comparison. Ram sucks gas, Ford (which rides like a minivan) sucks in all cases. Drove up north 4 hours at 75mph on the highway, pulling a 3500lb. boat, averaging 15mpg, with no hesitations. Drove to cottage with truck empty in mid summer with no a/c on, hit 29mpg. I would recommend this truck to anyone especially with the 350ci vortec and a 3:43 gear ratio. Besides the more mature folk, this truck appeals to me (early 20''s) and even to the younger generation. The only reason many envious Ram and Ford owners don''t have one is b/c they didn''t want to shell out the extra 2000 bucks. An amount they now regret not spending.

Bought this vehicle for a temporary work truck until I got a better one. I was hoping it would last at least 6 months. That was six years ago. The body of the truck will go before the engine or tranny. This truck is 3 speed w/granny gear with a bored out 6 cylinder engine and a 1 ton tranny.
