Strength:

Seating, interior and exterior fit and finish. Toyota reputation for quality, and hopefully lower deprectiation. Engine has performed great so far. Although horsepower rating is below that of other large SUVs, it has enough power and torque to enter on ramps and pass without feeling afraid to do so. The interior is superior in our opinion when compared to the Tahoe or expidition. There are details such as the mid and rear passenger seats being fully upholstered (all the way to the floorboard). The mid and rear seats recline and the leg room for all seating works for us.

Weakness:

I noticed when the rear passenger window was opened at highway speeds that the resulting air turbulence caused the vehicle to rumble and shake which was quite suprising since the body of this large vehicle seems to be rigid. The premium sound system boasts 10 speakers (w/sub) is somewhat weak when compared to the factory Bose in my Vette. I changed the factory oil at 1,500 miles and noticed that the oil filter is located forward and you need a step ladder and LONG arms to get to it. On a recent trip we also noticed that in moderately windy conditions the vehicle was noticably pushed around. The only other item that I would bring to anyone's attention is that dealers such as the one we purchased from can be designated as "independent distributors" and may have other than factory installs done at local businesses. We opted for the rear entertainment center w/DVD which they had installed. We did not realize until after the deal that the DVD system was not a factory Toyota DVD system. The player works well and unless you did a side by side comparison you may not notice. From the factory you should get the sunroof W/the DVD system but we got ripped! "buyer beware."

Accelerates nicely, plenty of room for passengers

Strength:

nice and large powerful and comfortable.

Weakness:

The car has a transaxle problem. It thumps from time to time. Toyota tries to side step it as best they can. They blame it everything but themselves. You can't open a rear window at speeds over 30 miles per hour. this makes the car tremble and shake. The brake stop well but need repair often because they wear fast. Toyota blames this on the consumer also.

Found the body to be very well built. The engine is great and powers the car well.

Strength:

Smooth engine and transmission. Comfortable seating for eight. Great turning radius. Ample towing capacity. Middle and rear seats recline. Knowing that you are driving a Toyota and can expect good value, quality and reliability.

Weakness:

Awkward controls for accessories take some time to get used to. Poor fuel economy. (Though not any worse than other large SUV's). That's about it.

We were at the dealership looking at Siennas. We are a family of 7 and the Siena felt a little to cramped for us. We hadn't considered the Sequoia, thinking it was out of our price range but decided to take a look for comparison. What a great vehicle! It seats eight, which is perfect for us. The rear seat is o.k. for three kids, however, three adults would be cramped on a long trip. The car is roomy, quiet, and is remarkably easy to drive for a large vehicle. The controls take some getting used to but so far everything works properly. We have owned several Toyotas in the past and have come to expect great reliability and value from them. This is why we decided to purchase the Sequoia over a GM or Ford SUV. If you are in the market for a large SUV you should give strong consideration to the Sequoia. I feel it is one of the better values in large SUV's. Our kids love it too!

Strength:

The sequoia has no trouble getting onto the highway. For a big SUV, I can still get into parking spaces without a problem.

Weakness:

Differential replaced. Toyota is working on a solution. Road noise with windows open. Stereo

I bought my Sequoia around Christmas. It was making a funny noise. The dealership said it was the drive train differential. I love my SUV, I just hope Toyota solves this problem. It's been in the shop 2 x's in 3 months.

Strength:

Roomy, rugged, and looks GREAT!

Weakness:

(Only one) Makes a moaning noise in cold weather related to the front differential per Toyota. Toyota is aware of the problem and is working on a resolution. It has too thick a fluid in colder weather for the front drive shaft to spin correctly. Warm weather it is no problem.

I am VERY happy with this vehicle. I am getting 14 mpg city, and 18 mpg highway which is better than the Chevy Tahoe I owned previously which would get 12 mpg city, 16 mpg highway. The engine is adequate in acceleration. We have seated 8 people several times with no problem. It is very easy to get into the 3rd row seating. It has a very quiet ride, no rattles or squeaks, and very well made.

Strength:

315 ft. lbs. torque. Good Toyota engine. Impressed with amount of headroom and feet room. It's almost like sitting on a couch that moves! The Brakes work extremely well for such a large vehicle. Nice for rear temperature control. Lots of room for people, or if there is only 5 people to go, pop out the back seats and double your cargo room.

Weakness:

None so far, we have watched how Toyota has improved it and worked out bugs over the years in magazines.

Get the moon Roof! It's great. I would encourage anyone who wants a fun big car to get a Sequoia. They are very quiet for a V-8 and ride extremely well. It was 29 degrees last night and it defrosted the windshield in about 2 minutes from a sheet of ice. The bar across the back easily comes out and you have tons of cargo room! I would advise you to get it and go wheeling or for a daily driver. Plus get the blue one, looks really good when clean with 4 wheel drive. It can be disengaged. The stereo has a CD and Tape player to keep everyone happy, and plenty of storage room.

Strength:

Ride & looks are best out there for the bigger SUVs. Like the bigger gas tank which is necessary for gas mileage (14 city) as expected.

Weakness:

Touch brakes in curves, especially if wet it shimmies...scarey! Clock too low to see easily. Problems w/rotors & brakes started about 10,000 miles...not good.

Need a big family vehicle for family & occassional pulling of horse trailer, travel trailer & utility trailer. I tried all the big SUVs except Escalade before buying. Had a Landcruiser prior & loved it, but new is too expensive & Sequoia rides better.

Strength:

I like the size of the vehicle, and the way it looks. Looks really cool with 22 inch wheels.

Weakness:

The biggest problem to date has been with the brakes. I get some wheel shimmy after 20,000 miles. i am also experiencing a pull to the right that the dealer said was a tire problem, well guess what put brand new ProComp T/A's on it and I have the same problem. The car also wanders at highway speeds which is very tireing on a long trip. If anyone has experienced any of these problems please e-mail me at rabushb@netscape.net as I would like to have a little ammo for the dealer.

Overall happy with vehicle. I have some of the same complaints as other revuers, such as the center console is not close enough to use as a support. The radio doesn't sound that good. Gas mileage is a major concern.

Strength:

Ride, was great, quite, and vision was great.

Weakness:

I really didn't have or have not had a lot of weakness with this SUV, sometimes gets hard to park with some of the parking spaces, but overall I didn't have one to speak of.

Made a 2730 mile trip through Canada and down the east Coast, the ride was great, your arrived comfortable, and I averaged approximately 21.3 MPG, driving the speed limits, 65 in the US and around 110KPH in Canada. This Sequoia out performed my last SUV(Durango) in milage, ride, comfort, the total experience was great.

Similar Products Used:

All of the SUV's I have owned were smaller, Ford Exployer Eddie Bauer, Durango SLT and this, I guess I have graduated, will not go back to smaller.
