Strength:

The reclining second and third seats are great. At 6’ 3”, I have no problem hopping in the third seat for a 2-3 hour ride. The second seat allows me to actually cross my legs, unheard of in most SUVs. Although the third seat takes up a lot of cargo space, the versatility of the 50/50 rear seats makes maneuvering larger items a snap. The sunroof is enormous and lets in a lot of natural light.

Weakness:

My Sequoia has been towed in three separate times for a false reading on the Crank Position Sensor. A new computer on the third visit appears to have corrected it. I also have the same transmission vibration coming through the floor. The dealer states its common behavior of the vehicle, but it feels like metal on metal to me. My dealer said they would monitor the bulletins for any postings. For the price, Toyota could spring for a better stereo system. Although I enjoy the convenience of the front loading in dash changer, the sound is sub par. Toyota should revisit the orientation of their front in board armrests. They are too narrow and uncomfortable, not to mention making buckling the seat belt difficult in the down position.

Overall I love the Sequoia. I looked at both the Expedition and Tahoe before purchasing and found the Sequoia the hands down winner for performance, style and comfort. Although the price was a bit higher than I budgeted, I felt it was a good return for my dollar and Toyota does well in maintaining value. I also like the fact there aren’t that many on the road, at least in my area. I can’t turn a corner without seeing one of the Sequoia’s competitors.

Good vehicle for towing. Plenty of room for storage. Good gas mileage.

Weakness:

Smell of rotten eggs when accelerating.

I've been driving this truck since it was new and always got a smell of rotten eggs when accelerating with the windows up. I've contacted toyota and even had the Toyota Distributor Steve Carlson drive in my truck. The response from him was that it "We are sorry to hear of your continued dissatisfaction with the diagnosis of the concern with your Sequoia. Based on the regional representative's inspection the catalytic converter is functioning as designed and the smell you are referencing is a by-product from the combustion process. Our records indicate the regional representative provided you with information on how to minimize the odor." After all this time I still have a problem with the smell.

Strength:

Good Space, Low level of noise, great comfort.

Weakness:

Just like everybody else I feel the noise and vibration at about 35 and 50 miles/hour. I am not sure if I even should bother taking it in for service after having read all the other incidents.

Great SUV with a few minor dislikes.

Strength:

Comfortable, Ergonomics, Features, Smooth Engine

Weakness:

Transmission humming, gas mileage, location of the clock (can't read it if you're using your cup holder), Sound system (I guess sound level in the back of the vehicle was deemed not necessary), Tires (Cheap - will probably have to change them at 15k)

I have had the vehicle (Limited) for a little over 2 months now. The vehicle transmission has a vibration coming through the floor. It is worse at 35 miles an hour and is cyclical. It hums constantly when costing as 35 miles/hour. It is independent of whether you step on the gas or not. It is extremely annoying. I brought it in twice for this issue. The first time (1 week after I picked it up), the mechanic had no clue and nothing was done. The second time (2 months after I picked up), they said it was normal … yeah right. Toyota screwed up and they do not know how to fix it. The dealer said there were no bulletins on the issue but customers have been complaining. No kidding... As far as I'm concerned, a vehicle with a sticker of $48,000 should be perfect. This is my fourth Toyota and it might be my last if they do not come up with something to fix this.

This is my first SUV. I drove a 2001 Tundra prior to that which is why I chose the Sequoia. I was told I was getting the same ride.

Weakness:

A/C- We have had to have it fixed twice so far and still doesn't work properly. Very concerned that this would keep us from buying the Sequoia again.

Overall, happy with the Toyota Sequoia. Plenty of room and very comfortable. Smooth ride for an SUV. Handles well in difficult situations

Weakness:

Faulty Brake (ABS), Pervious to sale, all Sequioa's should have wheels Force Wheel Balanced,

I don't think I would purchase another one. Like previous owners, we noticed a vibration from the tires. When you ride with the back seat windows down it sounds like you havwe a flat tire. The answer to the smoothness in the ride and no vibration was to go to Goodwrench and have a four wheel, Force Wheel Balance. This totally got rid of the vibration. The ABS brake system is like no other vehicle I have driven. The brakes are clunky. Cruise control also is faulty. You really have to step on the brake hard to release the cruise control. When bring into shop for corrective action, we are alsways being told thats how it is and theres nothing wrong.
