Strength:

Drives like a sedan.

Weakness:

parking not as good as the Ford Expedition

Excellent SUV, was scared by some of the older reviews. Drives like a car. While on the test drive reached 90mph so fast that I thought I was in my wife's BMW X5. Absolutely worth the money. The limited edition is a complete rip-off, buy stock and add after market leather and other cool interior stuff.

Reliability Roomy Value (SR5 - Limited seems like a waste)

Weakness:

Rear Visibility Manual seats too low Anti Skid too touchy

$32,000 + ttl Bought new in 2001 after my 1999 Grand Cherokee was lemon lawed (man, I loved that car - aside from the brake problem). After 2.5 years and 52,000 miles, I still sometimes miss the quicker, tighter ride and better handling of the JGC, but I don't miss the repeated trips to the dealer. I managed to find a very stripped SR5 and had the dealer add leather & hitch, otherwise, it would've been out of budget. Don't like running boards or fake wood trim anyway. Manual front seats don't have enough adjustment and sit rather low....a strange feeling for me at 6'2". Can't imagine manual seats for a shorter driver. I'm looking for an adjustment kit, but haven't found one yet. Larger size took a little getting used to...considered the 4Runner, but it was too narrow. But on the plus side, I removed third seats (no kids) and store my bikes and other gear inside. With a little gear rearranging, I can sleep, stretched out, in the back if it's raining out. I'd like to be able to remove 2nd row seats for extended solo or paired road trips, but that looks like trouble. Reasonable mileage for its size (15/17). Bad visibility when backing up (again, this could be improved by raising front seats). Smooth ride, good towing, killer mid range acceleration, decent stock stereo and incredible reliability. Overall, it's a little underpowered, but that's not a problem. I could even understand a smaller engine option if they could significantly improve mileage, but that seems unlikey. I've only had 1 real prob so far (A/C) and it was fixed under warranty. Have developed minor rattles in drivers door and rear hatch that are window related. When window is rolled up all the way, it rattles a bit. Just a touch of the button to take pressure off the glass removes rattle. I plan to check it out at some point, but I'm lazy & it's not that big a deal. Windows are usually down anyway. Anti skid system is a little touchy if accelerating from a stop in a wet corner. Gets a little irritating, but reminds me to drive safe and to maybe get new tires (not looking forward to the $600 bill though).

Strength:

I love the look! It has more style that the overtly boxy Denalis, Fords, Escalades, etc. The stereo sounds decent and the in dash CD player is great. The second row tumble feature is simple enough for my kids to use and makes it easier to access the third row than the Escalade. I also love the power folding mirrors.

Weakness:

Besides the obvious rattling and suspension problem I seem to be having, I don't have many other complaints. I do find it a little difficult to parallel park and switch lanes with the huge blind spot on the rear right.

The 2003 Sequoia is my second Sequoia, I got rid of my 2002 after 10 months because of a hideous rattle in and around the dash. At first, the dealer just dismissed it as "Sequoias don't rattle". After having it in for service 3 times and being convinced it was a fluke, I opted to trade it for a 2003. (no, I didn't pursue the lemon law, not sure I could for nonstructural concerns). Anyway, I loved the look so much over my options(Excursion, Denali, Escalade) that I bit the bullet for the 2003. For the first 6 months or so, it was fine. Then the rattle started again. I nearly wanted to cry. I asked other owners...they never had problems. I asked dealers...no such reports of problems. Then in addition to the rattle, it felt like the Sequoia was falling apart over railroad tracks, bumps and potholes. I seroiusly thought about getting rid of it, but I brought it in for service first. The Toyota tech said he never heard anything like my rattle and that they'd need to keep my car all day. Whew, at least it was obviuous to them too and not my imagination. They moved the "window clips" (whatever they are) and the creaking rattling noise seems to have subsided dramatically. Unfortunatley, I don't know what to do about the suspension. As far as the interior goes, the Sequoia exceeds the space of other full size SUV's. The third row is very roomy and the kids love it back there. What's nice is that I find it roomy enough for adults as well. I also disliked the fact that there were no stereo controls on the steering wheel for the 2002 model which was another reason I traded in for the 2003. After driving Limited Grand Cherokees since 1996, it was hard to have to keep going to the dash to make radio adjustments.

Strength:

Comfortable and roomy. Get the SR5...limited is not worth it.

Weakness:

None yet....expected the poor gas mileage.

WHat a beauty. Only had it for a few days, but have not experienced any of the symptoms described in 2002. Handles soo smoothly and is really not all that different than the Highlander. I was intimidated by the size, but needed the room for kids and their stuff. Other cars/trucks move when the see me coming...too funny. I love this SUV! Paint job is gorgeous. My family keeps fallling asleep during rides and the 4 y/o prefers the 3rd row.....yea!!

It has a great ride(not top heavy). It is easy to get in and out. Loads of room and great sound system and i also love that the air and heat are seperate in the rear seats.

Weakness:

Gas milage, it is hard to see to back up with the back seat center head rest

I love this vehicle!! My husband and i are no strangers to toyota products and when we saw the sequoia it was love at first sight. I was tired of getting whiplash when i passed the dealership so we decided to test drive one. Needless to say you can't drive it and not buy it. I'm hooked on my sequoia and toyota reliability.

Strength:

Styling, easy ride, spacious interior, dependable, anticipated high resale. Safety features excellent including front and side airbags for driver and passengers, as well as side CURTAIN airbags.

Weakness:

Braking mechanism seems a bit stiff, often requiring more than anticipated force to force vehicle to appropriate stop.

We decided to upgrade our SUV from the midsized Mazda Tribute (2001) to a bigger SUV for our growing family. We shopped around, and test drove several, including the Ford Expedition (limited edition) and the Chevy Tahoe (LTX). In the end we decided on the Sequoia for a number of reasons. The Sequoia had a much more comfortable ride than any other we test drove. On the pavement it was the smoothest, quietest SUV we had driven. Some of the others either felt overwhelming (Tahoe) or too touchy with the gas pedal (Ford). Inside the Sequoia was large and very spacious, but so were most of the others we tested. The JBL Stereo with its seperate front and rear audio was absolute joy. It saved our sanity, so our children can listen to their kids CDs while we listen to the radio. The sun roof is also a pleasure. Overall, given Toyota's known dependability and vehicle quality, combined with a high resale value and an overall gem of a truck, we are 100% pleased...so far.

Roomy and great for towing and trips. Sunroof is a plus. Removable seats for hauling. Holds 8 people. The kids like thir own space. I love the extra cup holders built into the rear area and extra storage boxes. We use the outlets all the time for gameboys, t.v. and such. I also like the rear window down button on the keyless entery. Helps to have it open to put groceries in without lifting the rear gate. Awsome stero system too. 6 changer DVD, am/fm and tape. Great to tow with no big time vibration.

Weakness:

Could use a bit more leg room on the last row of seats but good for kids.

I love this SUV!!! I have ownened a Ford-Explorer and thought is was great until now. This truck has everything I could want.

Strength:

Ride and fit-finish are far above her American counter-parts.

Weakness:

Arm rests are too high, and the console is too low. I am also not a big fan of the column-shift. Finding "drive" is often difficult, and takes a little search, rather than going right to it. The driver seat doesn't adjust into enough positions either. Also the third-row seat is like an after-thought...it is useless. The biggest problem - and the reason I am at odds about keeping the truck, is the fact that one cannot roll the rear windows down if going over 45 mph!! It may sound crazy, but don't even try it. If you are doing 55 the wind buffeting (pressure build and release) is so bad the head liner and seats bounce violently. I mean violently. Just try it on your test drive -

I have owned about every comp to the Sequoia I have recently purchased. Much tighter than I expected, the ride is solid and sure-footed. I chose the Black with the Tan Leather Limited 4WD package. Georgeous truck with great lines - I get a lot of compliments.

Very roomy, smooth ride , great looks. Fuel economy is better than my straight 6 Jeep grand Cherokee @ 12.5 so far!

Weakness:

The two problems previously mewntioned, and I too feel the vibration comming through the floor, not bad but could eventually get annoying. Stereo is average at best for a 40K vehicle.

My wife and I have adorned it from afar and now we own one. We picked it up a week ago and have had two problems with it. It is in the shop for 3 days to replace the power outlets and wiring to them because they keep blowing the fuses and the paint has tiny Rust spots about 30, They say its trail dust from shipping, Not what I'd expect from Toyota!

The best vehicle I've ever purchased. Absolutely no problems. Love the styling and the comfort. Can't get it away from my wife, so I drive an Avalon. Great for long trips and towing a 19.5" boat.
