Strength:
Reliability, Resell Value, Wonderful Handling, Rugged yet Beautiful.
Weakness:
Unpowered engine, Low Gas Mileage. Well, I have always loved Toyota and I know why. My 4-Runner is very reliable and is a pleasure to drive. Yes, it might be a bit sluggish, but she is reliable as ever. I can contest to that. I am proud of her and I will add some mods to fix the underpowered engine. I am satisfied with it''s power nonetheless. I mean, if you want something faster, get a race car. I love how it has power everything even the back window, which is good for bass from subwoofers. Also, the couple of seconds of power after the engine shuts off to close the windows is excellent and I will keep it in my care for as long as I can possibly can. I love my 4-Runner and I have driven around many vehicles and I love its handling as well. Not bad for an SUV. Believe that. =P Similar Products Used: Cherokee, 98'' 4-Runner, and 00'' Celica. |

Strength:
reliability. i drive this car close to 100miles everyday. no problem at all during 6 yrs of this car. ground clearance. good view. looks really good. lot of space
Weakness:
cheap plastic material. all the buttons on the controls just falls out ...!!! baaaaad i mean bad cd changer. takes forever to change discs. rides really bad. never even think about driving this car on rough roads, the car will fall apart. easily loses traction on bumps. i have owned this car since 96 and the only thing i can say thats good about this car is reliability. i have over 160k miles on the car now and i cant think of a single time at a auto shop. the only thing i hate about this car is that it drives soooo rough. i mean very rough. the car just falls apart when going on bumpy roads. the car easily loses control over little bumps when going fast(55mph). very tough to get in and out of the car. car really lacks hp but offroad cars dont need much hps. verrry slow car, engine cant handle acceleration. eats too much gas.... i mean i fuel like 2 times a week. very cheap interior. i own a SR5 with full option. Similar Products Used: lexus rx300 - nice smooth car, too many people drive them, its a car not an suv. bmw x5 - very nice and good handling but way overprices. lincoln navigator - very big and eats too much gas range ro |

Strength:
very reliable-handles great offroad! my sister has a chevy truck(96) 4x4 that doesnt compare when offroad
Weakness:
tailgait rusting-rear window sticking received this vehicle from my fathers recent passing, but was there when he bought it. what can i say excellent!!! I''ve never owned an suv in the past, but i have been in many. In my opinion, nothing compares. This vehicle currently has 155,000 miles and is still running strong. For those of you that want speed-(try reliability) thats what you will get from a 4-runner. |

Strength:
Looks, gas mileage, dependability, resale value.
Weakness:
None that i can find right now. Just got this baby, and I love it!!! Rides smoothly, has enough punch for me (why would you need more than a v6 unless doing some serious hauling). Comfort, class and lots of room for toting around stuff. Can''t speak highly enough of it. Similar Products Used: Toyota Tacoma, Honda Accord |

Strength:
Power rear window, great reputation for quality
Weakness:
Porpiose-like ride over dips and during braking, scary handling at speed, balky automatic transmission when downshifing, safety switch that makes you have to hit the sunroof button again when it''s 6 inches from closed. (COME-ON for god''s sake. Next you won''t let us drive at all cause it''s not safe!) Had to upgrade to BILSTEIN gas shocks and larger diameter sway bars at PERFORMACE PRODUCTS here in L.A. for safety reasons. SR5 with large wheel/tire package, Tow hitch and power options. Greatbrakes.Reasonably efficient, smaller SUV for L.A. freeways. Love driving with all the windows including the rear glass & roof open. Works well after some upgrades. (see below.)I''d buy this car again and do the NECESSARY suspension upgrades that the factory should have done right....will probably get the limited next time & give this one to my son. Toyota 4Runner SR5
Strength:
Reliability, gas mileage(not bad, for an SUV), comfort, engineering, 4 wheel drive, looks, love the rear heater (keeps the kids warn, hauls up the canyons and the sound system is impeccable.
Weakness:
A little over priced, Toyota leases are a bit pricey but that''s probably because they hold their value so well, mechanical radio antenna breaks easily and that''s it! I have owned an 87, 92, 95, 97, and now 00 4Runner and all I can say is they are overall the best SUV on the market. They have never spent time in the shop, I wheel them like crazy, I spend the majority of my time in the mountains and I have not had one problem. All you have to do is change the oil, rotate the tires and put gas in them and they will run forever. They look great, run great and wheel great. If your looking for the best all around(city and mountains) SUV you won''t be disappointed with the 4Runner! 4Runner SR5
Strength:
-Fit and finish -high quality paint -taut handling -firm ride -narrow (good for parking lots and off-road) -reliable -quiet -comfortable -cup holders
Weakness:
-creature comforts not as nice as jeep grand cherokee, but certainly adequate -a little overpriced This is a wonderful truck. I like the taut steering and firm ride. Some may think the ride is too firm. My white 4runner is easy to keep clean and looking new without showing scratches. I have only had two problems; 1) throttle positioning sensor malfunctioned and was replaced under factory warranty ($300.00 repair), 2) aftermarket hella fog-lights (distributor installed) filled up with water and shorted-out (so did the replacements) but I got Toyota to replace the hella with the better Toyota fog-lights (that come on the Limiteds). Mine averages 21+ MPG with reg unleaded. My wife has a 99 Jeep Grand Cherokee which is a piece of junk. The jeep has better carpet, seats, stereo, ergonomics, and gas mileage (24mpg+) than the 4runner, but the 4runner has been extremely reliable, runs smooth, and is more fun to drive than the jeep. Mine came with the hitch pkg which came in handy recently when a girl in a volvo hit me from the rear. My truck didn''t have a scratch, not even the hitch cover, but the Volvo had a hole in the front bumper. Similar Products Used: 99 jeep grand cherokee |

Strength:
Powerful, Safe, Reliable - fun to drive. I was lucky I managed to buy one of the lot for less than what I had expected to pay since it was the year end clearance. Overall great Car!!!!!
Weakness:
Avoid Toyota Financing, you''ll get lower rates from a Credit Union or other sources. Also don''t buy all the pre-paid maintenance packages, security alarm etc. that they''ll try and sell you when you buy the car. Waste of Money!!! It''s a awesome vehicle. I just love it. Takes me where I want to go, when I want to go. Absolutely no problems at all. I did my research before buying an SUV and would highly recommend the 4-Runner. The one I have is the SR5 sport. 4*4 sports package. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Strong engine, if your not looking for street speed. Durability, reliability.
Weakness:
No complaints - it gets me to all my favorite fly fishing streams. I am the second owner of this classic. The SR5, 5 speed manual, 4 cylinder is as rugged as they come. After 146K miles, the engine runs like new. I recently had an emmission inspection that amazed the technicians; they said it was "far better" than vehicles only 2-3 years old. I have had my 4Runner in some difficult terrain and it has never failed me. Similar Products Used: 1959 Toyota Land Cruiser - drove it for 360K miles before retiring it. |

SR5 SPORTS EDITION
Strength:
- Reliability - LOOKS - comfortable ride - sports edition style - GREAT quality
Weakness:
nada 1 I''m very pleased with my new 4runner. It drives smooth on most roads. The sports edition SR5 looks extremely sharp and looks like a limited, but for less $$$. What made me decide on a Toyota 4runner was Toyota''s great reputation for reliability. I have a lot of confidence in this truck. Similar Products Used: ''94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited, inline 6 |
