Strength:

Knockout looks and small enough to maneuver nicely in rush hour traffic.

Weakness:

Totally unreliable!!!!!

1) Towed out of my driveway at 3 mos of age for nonstart (no power and no sound whatsoever).
2) Blowing major oil almost from new. Huge clouds of bluish smoke frequently on start up.
3) Extremely loud metallic rattle underneath.
4) Car was never aligned at factory, needing new tires after approx 1 year due to excessive inside wear. Tires were bad enough for the vehicle to go out of control in snow (at very low mileage).
5) Loss of power. On a drive in the nearby hills to go camping car barely made it up a large hill.

Overall very disgusted with vehicle. Car makes more noise and is in the shop more than a 6 year old vehicle (my 1994 Dodge Ram Van is still getting me to work worry free while my "new and improved" vehicle takes up space in the driveway and at the shop. I do not recommend this vehicle to anyone who values their time and money.

Strength:

Nice little SUV - handles well in the snow around town. We like the room compared to our smaller car

Weakness:

We had a lot of problems with the dealership fixing the car. We had an idel problem (it would almost quit) and the dealership told us there was nothing wrong. We also had the dash rattle and the windshield replaced due to rattling. All have been fixed since and we are happy now, but it took a while to fix

I guess I would recommend buying it some where besides Madison. If the service were better we'd be very happy with it. It's an overall nice car to drive, not as loud as other SUV's we test drove.

Strength:

Gas mileasge compared to my previous SUV.

Weakness:

Its had nothing but problems!

I have had to have the vitara in several times to fix the fuel system. I was once stranded on the freeway with this vehicle. The lining in the interior is falling apart, and the left mirror came off on the freeway.

I will make it my lifelong goal to keeps friends from buying this vehicle!

Strength:

Lots of headroom, looks great, handles well, good pickup

Weakness:

I've been having a problem with the side cladding (plastic outside trim). I've had it replaced by dealership three times and it continues to crumble. Apparently there is a problem when front door is opened while back door is opened on same side - the plastic peice of back door slides under the front door causing it to jam and crumple the plastic peice. I've been told no-one has ever had this problem and am concerned that it continues to happen repeatedly. Spent lots of time going back and forth to dealership (whose service dept stinks)

Other than the door trim problem, satisfied with vehicle. Only have 5,000 miles on vehicle so early to tell, but getting concerned that my problem cannot be permanently fixed.

Strength:

Very little noise, handles the horrible alaska roads extremely well! With the normal and POWER feature on the tranny... It HAULS BUTT! Love the Wheels, real full size spare on matching rim. Comfortable interior, with all the needed and most of the wanted features.

Weakness:

A little small in the back end ("truck space") had to trade large graco stroller for an umbrella stroller because the graco one took the up 90% of the trunk space. We have the "premium" sterio package with the speakers mounted in the room, Nice idea but little BASS sound (WAY TO MUCH TREBLE).

Awsome Mini-SUV Recommend to anyone who doesn't want a BIG truck. Has every thing you need for comfort in this neat little package that also includes a heart to play with the big boys. Can handle its own on or off road!

Well not really the same but a 1997 caravan. Which sucked royally compared to the GV. The van was a maintance Problem from the get go and was so LOUD when driving, not only did you feel the bumps you heard them. Unlike the GV which you don't hear hardly any noise, you also barely feel the bumps!

Strength:

This vehicle seems very tough and solid, comfortable to ride, even on 500 mile round trips to PA. I have had 0 problems, never been to the dealer for anything. The power is sufficient and the engine doesn't work to do anything, but I don't have to squeal the tires. I went through the last winter of 150 inches of snow with no problems.

Weakness:

No complaints

So far so good! Good value for the money.

Strength:

Looks good,
V6 is more than what some of the smaller SUVs Offer,

Weakness:

The Suzuki service department is the worst I have ever experienced. The absolutely refuse to trouble shoot problems while the car is still under warrantee. They always have some lame excuse why they cannot "look" for the problem. If you ask me they don't want to bother until I'm out of warrantee.

I experience a very loud grinding screeching noise when I disengage the clutch on very cold days.

The tires fishtailed around corners on wet days after about 15 thousand miles.

The heat comes out of the airconditioning vents. The vents don't stay in place they always slip down. The air circulation control always slips to outside air.

The list goes on and on. I'm sure I'll begin to see more and more problems as it gets older.

Them paint scratches off the fiberglass panels very easily.

The airbag light was on permanantly before I even removed the car from the lot.

I will never buy another Suzuki. This experience has been the worst car buying experience of my life. I am going to trade this nasty sucker in and buy a honda!

Geo Tracker. No comparison. The Tracker was a much better car. I had it for 150 thousand miles. With "no" problems aside from basic wear adn tear. This Suzuki is a cheap piece of &@%#!

Strength:

I like the style of this vehicle, but I am so disappointed in the performance and reliablity. I think it's very comfortable and has a smooth ride (but not on the highway).

Weakness:

Okay where should I start....
Biggest problem is the fan belt squeeking or some component with the fan belt. When downshifting into 3rd gear the gears grind. Brakes rub and make loud noises. There is a constant rattling noise in the rear, sounds like it's the speakers or something. Tires suck. It looks like I already need new ones. Totally disgusted.

I spend more time at the dealership getting something fixed than I do at work! :-) I am really dissatisfied with this vehicle. I spoke with one of the 3 dealerships I've taken this vehicle to and they said they have people coming in all the time for the fan belt noise. I would definitely not recommend the 99 model. Of course, when a new model comes out it will have problems. I've learned my lesson. I will not by a first year model of ANYTHING ever again.
