Strength:
Power is good and has quick pick up for off ramp to highway. Initial looks are good until quick deterioration of paint job.
Weakness:
To add to above complaints the paint job is of low quality as it chips and scratches so easily. Worst new vehicle purchase so far for me. List of problems within first two years: Remote entry failed, vaccuum hose came off, had to replace interior overhead light X3 and rear turn signal lights X1, GAS DOOR fell off and air conditioner failed just after warranty expired. DISSATISFIED! Similar Products Used: It is the worst new vehicle I have purchased. Actually it is even worse than an old 1987 Suzuki Samauri I owned just before purchase. I loved that. |

Strength:
plenty of power, truck feel, great quality for money. I'd rate a solid "A".
Weakness:
factory tires kinda suck, Seam to wear fast and are a sport car tire not a truck tire. Also hard to find tire size of 235 65 16... on the + models. Tire is available but at a sum what higher price than changing tire size. Over all great truck, had to get a replacement stereo (for free) and replaced the body molding on the drivers door (a common problem) Plenty of power, plenty of room for front seat passenger a little skimpy for rear passengers. Okay gas milage, 22+ on the high way and no less than 19 when really stepping on it. Similar Products Used: KIA SPORTAGE, HONDA CRV, TOYOTA RAV4, the sportage is the only one that has the "REAL" 4x4, but isn't as a quality of vehicle. The later two vehicles have "all wheel drive" Which is fine for driving on pavement but god forbid you need to go off of the paved road. In short the compitition doesn't have a leg to stand on. |

Suzuki builds a great product for your money.
Weakness:
Tire problem in the snow. Switched to Goodyear Integ, haven't used it in the snow yet. Crayon smell after riding a while, Catalytic converter problem. Same smell with the old Sprint just changed the converter and it went away. Decent vehicle. Great gas mileage. Those who complain don't want a V6 with horsepower..(go get one of those underpowered Hondas or Toys) I had an 88 Chevy Sprint built by Suzuki couldn't kill that engine. Same with this one. Similar Products Used: With the power in this size vehicle, its in its on class. |

Strength:
Fully loaded with Power everything (Except Seats who cares),Nice big control buttons,Durable Cloth seats, Has Great power for an Auto, Get way more options than the crappy Rav4 and Honda CRV that shows it guts from behind when driving (look at the bumper and you'll know what I mean)I paid a Great price, & Looks Sweet! If you are an active person and do not want to pay High prices for an SUV this is it.This SUV is not for the people who have it for looks. I never could understand those people! Great Family SUV for those who cannot afford the Luxry SUV. Why bother buying a Luxury one anyways. Leather & Wood trim Please. (I can't take it camping I might damage the leather) HAHAHA @ those people. Great car Over all!
Weakness:
Crappy stocked sereo system, Bottom of driver seat to wide for smaller people from Knee to hip, Hard elbow rest on door, No intermidiate back wiper, All Grand Vitara's should come with ABS for added safety & security. I first test drove a Land Rover Discovery and was considering on buying. All though I liked the inside (Very Elegant) I did not like the outside. To boxy. I knew I wanted a SUV but which one? I came upon the Grand Vitara with out even knowing about it and I loved the looks and Style. Had a larger engine than the Rav4, and Looked way better than the Honda CRV. All though the Chevy Tracker is part of the Grand Vitara family it looked cheap and put together half _ _ _. I wanted a SUV that can keep up with my active life style for both city and off road. Found it! Good gas and Drives nice & you can take it off road. Unlike the CRV & the RAV4. Similar Products Used: Kia..To small and Cheap Everything. |

- fuel econ So far, so good. Usual scum-bag car dealer issues, but finally drove it away. Drives like a car, very comfortable, **3RD ROW SEATING**!!! Have 2 young kids (8 & 6) so it's great for hauling them and their friends...have made all the friend's parents jealous! Great alternative SUV for the young family! I love my brand new SUV! It's so great knowing that I can just throw it in 4 wheel drive and get anywhere I need to go. Definately one of the best vehicles I've ever driven! Mine came with a lot of extras on it including running boards, extra ski racks, grill guard w/fog lamps, special rims, so I get noticed no matter where I go! Great looks, great design, roomy especially for tall people. The whole reason for me buying an SUV was so that I would have no trouble getting back and forth to work. I wanted something small but roomy and not extravagantly expensive. I got it!
Weakness:
NONE!!!!!! I haven't had it for long, but so far I'm absolutely thrilled to have my new Suzuki! Jack Trebour gave me a great price and friendly, NO PRESSURE service! I got everything I wanted in one small package of an SUV! I would recommend this vehicle to anyone! Similar Products Used: We had a Ford Explorer when I was growing up so I got to drive that. As everyone can tell, obviously the Explorer was bigger so there was more room, but all in all the Suzuki drives the way a truck should! The Explorer was too big for me, but a nice vehicle in general. |

Excellent Power. Extremely Reliable. I would buy another so my wife and I could both enjoy them, but finances don't currently allow. I am a very mechanical person, and the GV seems to pass every test. Very well put together. Very quiet, no rattles. We're glad we stumbled upon this little jewel before we purchased it's competitor.
Weakness:
Right front speaker rattle-fixed by dealer. List price $23,449 Similar Products Used: Test drove Kia Sportage, Rav4, Nissan Xterra and Pathfinder. The GV just did everyting better. I'm thankful we took the long way home, and noticed the GV. |

Strength:
Features, power, styling, overall design. Layout is very good, so the passenger and cargo compartments are as useful as possible for a small vehicle. Very wide track provides a lot of stability. Short length good for a city truck, tight turn radius parallel parks like a dream. Terrific rear suspension makes light-rear 2wd performance almost unnoticable.
Weakness:
Factory tires are no better than adequate in all driving conditions and for road noise, etc. Transmission is typical for a japanese auto, and could take better advantage of the power. Some small mechanical problems. Gas mileage not terrific for its size. All problems are well-addressed by dealer. Power could be better, but matches even larger vehicles for highway merging and other common power tasks. You cannot do better $ for $ if you need a real SUV and can live with a smaller vehicle. JLX (Canadian)
Strength:
For starters, the Grand Vitara looks fantastic. It's the most substantial looking vehicle in the mini-SUV class. The plastic mouldings on the lower half of the body also provide good rust-protection as well as protection against minor dings. Also, the v6 engine, while not as powerful as it should be still outperforms the 4-cylinder trucks. Head room is plentiful and cargo-space is acceptable. The ride is smooth and sturdy and the gas mileage is reasonable for a vehicle of this class. The part-time AWD is great!
Weakness:
While the v6 engine grants more power than a 4-cylinder would, it's too bad that the potential wasn't maximized in this truck; it could be a really strong vehicle. $26,770(CAN$) (~$18,000 USD) Similar Products Used: None |

JLX manual
Strength:
Peppy vehicle for size, very nimble and decent on gas mileage. Structurely strong with full frame and added support. Good looking vehicle as compared to others in this class. Loaded with plenty of features for the base package. Gets compliments often!
Weakness:
Interior plastic scratches easily. Bridgestone tires perform poorly in snow/rain. Minor repair problems, blower motor has been replaced, and front oil seal leaked. Both fixed to satisfaction. MSRP is listed incorrectly - should be $19,299 for JLX 4x4. Similar Products Used: Test drove CRV, Kia and RAV-4. Roomier seats than RAV, outperforms all in engine performance, 4 wheel drive is easy to shift in-out. |
