separate body and frame unlike crv all the other stuff I mentioned For Who''s your Genius: Why does the G-Wagon have 336lb of torque??? Because genius, It''s a FULL-TIME 4WD(w/low range). Split that by two for front and rear. You''ll find it''s about 168lb per axle (yes, it has a front and rear). You''d probably want to split both 168s by two again for each wheel. So, on a larger suv with both front AND rear axles, a V-8 engine and pretty descent horsepower, 168lb(F/R) of torque is NOT a lot for a FULL TIME FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. That 84lb per wheel. Not enough torgue to spin wheels on vehicle of it''s size. That is why it has such a great off road reputation. By the way, the Grand Vitara may have just barely pass the crv(in small light O/R tests), but it still beat it. :) The only thing I will say is test the crv and gv yourself. both having a manual tranny, and 4wd and then you''ll know. Having a 4wd low range comes in handy. 4wd high on both will be similar if you don''t slide or climb up slippery hills at high rpms. And if you do know, don''t take off on slick sufaces in first gear on either of them. No minor trail $#!t either. Push them both to there limits. You''ll find out yourself which one is better for off road(doesn''t have to be the most comfy or most prefered ride on road. Going through a river, people don''t give a rats @$$ about comfort). Also why cars, most minivans, and some suvs have unibody constructions and independent drive wheels and why better off roaders/4wds/suvs (including the G-500) have separate frame and bodies, true four wheel drive, 4wd low range, axled drive wheels(if not front AND rear axles), and a LOW TORQUE setup. Apparently mercedes already has your number. Congrats dude, you just proved youself wrong again. |

Strength:
affordable, comfortable ride. compact. adjustable 4wd.
Weakness:
poor quality stereo. has gotten some frightening crash test results. styling is very feminine, should have made it appeal to both sexes. As another happy customer wrote... "1999 V6 vitara with - K@N filter and cold box mod - platinum plugs - 245/50/16 fulda tires - hiflow exhaust - makes this absolutly an incredible mini suv THERE IS NO COMPARISON!!! 0-60/7.6 sec" BHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! now thats what i call the funniest sleeper there ever was Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
2.8 liter V6 is adaquately powerful, vibration-free and quiet. Seating is very comfortable for front and 2nd row of seats; amazingly so for 3rd row aside from limited legroom. (fore and aft movement of 2nd row helps here) Seats fold individualy, allowing flexible use of space. Electirc RC door locks, remote mirrors, and elec windows nice at price. Seperate rear air conditioner is unexpected extra! Nicely finished inside and out.
Weakness:
Somewhat ''wooden'' steering in comparison to an automobile. Because rear seats are fully upholstered (not "planks") they do not lie fully flat when folded. Disappointing radio/CD sound. (Poor speakers) This is a review of the Grand Vitara XL-7. This SUV has features and a level of quality far beyond what its price would suggest. The long (XL) wheelbase and compliant suspension gives it a very comfortable ride on the highway. The real (shift on the fly) 4 wheel drive makes it a reliable four-season performer. Similar Products Used: This is my 3rd Suzuki SUV. My older Sidekick is still running strong afyter 13 years. Few problems over that time, but salt-induced rust has developed. (Suzukies are built on frames, not unibody, so |

Strength:
Smooth V-6, automatic transmisson combo. Solid 4WD performance. Easy to park.
Weakness:
Crappy Bridgestone tires. Solid little SUV for those wanting a real 4WD and don''t have a lot of passengers. Hey, it''s a cheap SUV. If you want something better - spend more money! Similar Products Used: Toyotas and Hondas. |

Strength:
Power to weight ratio is phenomenal. Very responsive in steering. Comfortable ride.
Weakness:
Plastic of interior trim is easily scratched. Seatbelt catch can slide down between door and making it difficult to retrieve. My fourth Suzuki and second GV 2.5 petrol. No mechanical problems. No rumbles, squeaks or other noises. My brother was so impressed with the comfort of the ride over 800 miles, he has now bought one. Similar Products Used: Suzuki Vitara JLK 1600cc |

Strength:
Great for parking in tight spots, and handles our winter well!
Weakness:
Haven''t found one yet! : ) I love this litte SUV! We had our first snow storm and this unit stuck to the road! It has lots of pep for passing on the highway and does well with fuel economy. My kids love the view from the back seats, and I like how it hauls groceries! Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Has great power, solid build, more then average features and great looks
Weakness:
Only weakness is that it doesnt have a honda or toyota badge but who cares, at least it can carry 5 people without the motor sounding like it will self destruct any minute. WEll what can i say this is one of the best small 4wd''s ive driven and explored into. Its priced well and u can actually call it a 4wd unlike the CRV which i may add i could run faster then and has as much power as my remote control car. As for the people saying it has little space well all i can say is they either have extremely long legs or you should stop eatting cause theres enough room to fit a "normal sized adult" Similar Products Used: CRV, HRV=what a joke, toyot prado |

Strength:
V6 Engine, Low Maintenance, Great On-Road Handling, Real 4WD.
Weakness:
Very Poor Quality of Bridgestone Dueler Tyres, No ABS, Low Resale Value. If U r thinking of buying this vehicle, I suggest first U decide what U r looking for. Smooth V6, Medium fuel economy, Real 4WD, unlike Rav4/CRV, More options in the same price tag, Great on-road handling(Better than any other SUV, I''ve driven). Overall, the Best of both Worlds(on-road & off-road), at an affordable price & easy maintenance.Would recommend changing air filter to a K&N Performance Air Filter. Similar Products Used: Toyota Rav4 & Honda CRV. Both lag behind this 4WD, in one way or another, except in terms of reputation & popularity. |
