Strength:

The vehicle is spacious and the fold down seats allow the movement of larger items. The height of vehicle provides good visibility, the direction and temperature indicater in the rear view mirror is a nice touch. Long trips are not tiring as the seats are quite comfortable.

Weakness:

Originally the sunvisor had a restricted travel, but this was changed on the 2003 with different mounts which have also been installed on our 2002 Vue. For a small V6 it has poor fuel economy. The CVT transmission is noisy when shifting and at highway speeds has a constant whine which is both annoying and unsettling. This matter has been raised with GM Saturn who claim that all Saturn Vue have this problem and owners must get used to it. The noise is constant at highway speed and the only way to mask it, is to turn up the volume on the radio

The vehicle provides a comfortable ride, easy access, the instrument panel is easy to read and buttons are within reasonable reach. The Vue is peppy and handles well. The noisy transmission far outweighs the good points of this SUV.

Strength:

Exterior - styling, i like it and i am 26. Most trucks out there do not appeal. Those Big SUV's those are a dime a dozen, this is a fingerprint in the crowd. Handling is excellent. A little but too much oversteer but that is never a bad thing. Power, whooo power at the drop of a dime, nice sound system and love the features, auto dimming miror. Its a new step for Saturn and being that my dad bought the 1st SL2 then the new redesigned SL2 gave that to my brother and then he brought the VUE, it was hot and still it. I would def buy it, if i was in the market for it.

Weakness:

No weaknesses.

Its an sweet whip, no complaints, some after market products for it already. Different in styling cues. Appealing in power to competition. Actually this is funny not a weakness. My dad was driving and they have this new visor, and fits flush with the front, so u cannot see the sunroof visor. It blends into the roofline of the truck. I already noticed that there was a gap in-between the visor and the truck itself underneath. Now my dad was driving @ 60+MPH and opened the sunroof slightly and instantly i heard the visor started to cavitate under the pressure of the air coming into the interior cabin from outside, through that lil space under the visor and into the cabin. Not even 2 secs it became air-bornes and flew into the air on the NJ Turnpike. It was funnny, but luckilly my uncle was behind us and was like "what the heck was that". I was like i dont know, the visor flew off and wobbled in the air like a mangled bird. We called up SATURN and explained what had happened and they replace the visor without any problems. Lol it was still funny though. There is a flaw with that visor, if anyone has it installed be wary, that if there is a space between the visor and the truck underneath, it will cavitate under pressure if the sun-roof is opened. Happened to us, it can happen to anyone. Saturn should test these things more adequately in the wind tunnel, before releasing a new product.

Strength:

Plenty of room. 6 cilender has good power. Handles well in ice and snow. Plenty of extras at a good price. Nice looking. Rides like a lux car. Very happy with the VUE. This is my second new Saturn. I bought it because of how my first Saturn served us.

Weakness:

None so far.

We live in Ohio with plenty of snow. The Vue is very good in the ice and snow. We have the 6 cilender front wheel drive. Plenty of power, handles well in 8 inches of snow. We traded in a 1995 SL2 Saturn with 70,000 miles. No major repairs. The service we received was outstanding. The VUE makes us feel more secure because of the larger size. Plenty of room and toys at a good price. The Saturn people at Middleburg Hts. are good people to deal with.

Strength:

Lots of power with the V6, no complaint on the steering , actually the turning radius is very small compaired to most - try that U-turn in some SUV's. Compare the crash tests on these to the competition and see which one you want to be in when you have a bad accident ... I prefer to not get smashed . The VUE with its plastic side panels did far better than the metal competition , go figure .

Weakness:

Seats could have a bit more padding , auto headlights were on my Chevy and I miss that ...

Very much impressed with the standard equipment on the V6 AWD. Have driven in snow once up a steep hill and it did not even spin. The engine noise is a bit if you really step on it , but it goes . Have the upgraded CD and it is as good as the Chevy I replaced . I miss the auto headlights that were on the S-10 , but the ride is very good for a SUV, much better than Jeep . Don't know about dealer service yet because I haven't needed them, and if I have to be there other than routine oil changes will not keep it . I do not want a vehicle that has to be in the shop all the time no matter who makes it . No leaks , squeeks or rattles . Last trip on highway was 25.2 MPG. VUE has 1800 miles on it today 1/06/03.

Strength:

good looks, great gas mileage, decent handling, all kinds of accessories for those with active lifestyle, front passenger seats folds flat also so one can fit long objects (8 feet)inside vehicle fairly easily. for the money I think your getting a pretty decent vehicle.

Weakness:

somewhat restricted side view by front door posts, less than comfortable seats on long trips (leather should be better and optional neoprene seat covers help significantly in cloth models, as well as protect your seats) too much engine and road noise for my taste although not terrible (if your comparing to a toyota camry it stinks, if your comparing to a pontiac grand prix its not bad). decent amount of cargo room but not enough for two large dogs as in our case, unless you fold back seats down which don't fold as flat as I would have liked them to.

First and foremost, we do not own a vue. This review is based on several test drives of a couple different vue models (v6 awd, v4 awd). We started looking at compact suv's and wanted a large cargo area, good gas mileage, reliability, a fair amount of comfort for long trips and something that would handle the snow in west michigan (didn't need the ultimate off road vehicle though by any means). We felt the ride was a little noisy, (both engine and road noise-v6 more engine noise than v4) the seats could be more comfortable with back and leg support (we found the optional neoprene seat covers did fix most of the comfort problem in the cloth seat model-we did not test drive a model containing leather seats) my wife initially noticed her side to side view at intersections was a little obstructed by the thick door posts (separating front windshield from side windows). After she called it to my attention I did notice the supports seemed thicker than in anything I'd been in and did somewhat restrict my view also. The controls were adequate and easy to operate. We tested both the standard radio and the upgrade (get the upgrade if you enjoy louder, more vibrant sound). The vehicle handled fairly well but the electronic steering took some getting used to (the wheel does not snap back to center after completing a turn like most people will be used to). I did find myself correcting the steering more often than in my 94 olds cutlass when going down the highway (expected but not as smooth as I would have like). The v6 provides very ample excelleration for most peoples needs and the v4 was certainly not a dog either (if your main concern is gas mileage get the v4, if you want passing power go with the v6). My brother in law is a mechanic for saturn and he advised both engines are of good quality. For people who don't need the vehicle for long trips and don't mind a more "spartan" type vehicle, of which saturn is known for, don't mind a little road and engine noise, they will probably enjoy the saturn vue. As for reliability and resale, I can't say, but I've read it's expected to be of a least average reliablility and resale value. Government safety ratings in crash tests are among the best in it's class (easy to check on the web if that's a concern).

Nice looking, great in snow and rain,as long as you don't need your wipers.Very peppy, handles well.decent mileage.love the grocery holder very cool.

Weakness:

Cheap rugs, noisy fan(might be air filter)door handles outside are difficult for my child to open.Kids in back seat grab weather stripping to get out of car,no handle.Wimpy cd radio, go for the upgrade.

I made the mistake of thinking that my salesman was honest. Stupid already right! The day I went to pick up my vue ;after signing all the papers my sales guy said we have a little problem I hope you will work with me, the car came from the factory missing a part "nothing important just don't use your intermittent wiper mode, the regular wiper mode is fine. We will call you when the part comes in. A couple of weeks later the part came in they called and we scheduled,we waited one and a half hours and the car was done. We didn't know the repair consisted of "turned on wipers they worked didnot put in part and sent car home." 2 weeks later at night in rain wipers fail completely in every mode.I call service make appointment check with parts to make sure part is in stock still, parts guy says"this car was in 3 times for this problem already,I said no only 1 time, he checked and slipped by telling me car came from factory with this problem.next day I brought car in I asked for all service records and was shocked to find car came in over three months before to the dealer with frayed wire harness and wipers bad, they replaced wires, fuse and GL switch thought car was fixed.Delivery day oops! wipers have problem. They tell me "missing part lie" and deliver car. Right now 12/13/02 car was left at dealer because they couldn't get the module to program "new part" and gave me a rentla.I called headguarters and said I want a different car this one is defective from factory. The response was it's over 30 days too late. I explained that we were not told the whole truth till they had to one day ago so the "30 days clause" does not apply. The response was, over 30 days, this has not been resolved and we will get lawyers. To all you consumers; ask for a copy of all service done since shipment to dealer(even inspections are on there,if you see any repairs or previous problems recorded run!!!) Saturn will not be honest and tell you so be aware. I didn't think this would ever happen and I trusted that Saturn was a honorable company.I hope I save someone from this type of deceit, don't trust them, check everything!!!Good Luck!!

Outstanding Customer Service. Dent resistant body panels. No hassling over dollars and cents. Cargo organizer in back.

Weakness:

Can be a little "whiny" but that's what the radio volume is for.

Wow! Great leg room. Comfortable. Very smooth ride. Roomier than the Escape and the Rav I drove. I didn't care for the styling of the Santa Fe- which the warranty voids when I service it at my own shop. There were a few reasons why I went the way of Saturn. #1- The way they treat people. The other guys should take Saturn training. And, #2- The dent/rust resistant body panels. Go look at the Vue! You'll buy one too!

Strength:

Drives extremely well. Great in rainy conditions, and as noted by my accident, strong in a wreck. Mine is loaded, and I love all the extras.

I was involved in an accident this morning with my Saturn Vue. On a four lane highway, a car veered into my lane with enough force to hear a large "bang". I got out of the car and saw that her side mirror had come completely off her car, and she had a dent where the mirror had been. "Oh, no" I thought as I timidly looked at the side of my VUE. What I saw was a streak of her paint from the middle of the passenger side door to over the top of the rear wheel. No structural damage at all!!!! I took it to the dealership, they buffed off the paint, and it is as good as new! Those side panels are absolutely spectacular!!!! Tested my windows and underneath, no damage at all.

#1 Gas Mileage #2 Safety #3 Maintenance Record #4 Useful Design #5 Nice Styling (totally personal opinion) #6 Handling

Weakness:

#1 Interior color selection #2 Lack of availability (currently)

I bought this car on my lunch break. Ok so it was a long lunch but the fact is this SUV impressed me. I have been putting off this purchase for over a year but putting a baby in a stratus is not fun when you are 6'6". So here I am looking at this Vue vehicle. Why did I buy? Gas mileage is awesome. I can afford to drive the thing. Bonus there. Body design is awesome. Go see the demo where they wack it with a rubber mallet. You'll laugh. Safety record is great for Saturn as a whole. Repair record is also commendable. Interior design is actually for human use, imagine that. I love it when designs make sense. It isn't a Ferrari but it runs smooth and drives easy. I got the V6. Just in case I have to tow some toys. I didn't need offroad capability since this is primarily for tooling around the suburbs. I don't need an Excursion to go to Walmart. It just fits my needs very well. Price is also decent and zero financing is great. I have driven everything else, literally, and this was an easy decision. Also, not having to wage the "how much is this truck" with "what do want your payment to be" war over price is sooooo refreshing. You either like it or you don't. I like it a lot.
