I LOVE MY SATURN VUE!!! wooweee boy is it great! I recently bought my high school-er this amazing suv and it has been nothing other then a miracle. I feel completely safe with him driving around in it and I know he gives it a good beating. My husband and I were worried about the safety issues but the VUE has proven to be a trooper =) !!!!!!!!

Strength:

There is alot of space The engine has plenty of power

Weakness:

Gas milage is a little low Way too many bugs. Trade in value is low.

Looks nice, but has had many problems. It goes back to the dealer every month to be repaired. The steering has made terrible noises since day one, it's on it's second set of wheel bearings at 20,000 miles! The airbags have had a few problems also. Customer service is lousy, and I would be broke if there was no warrenty. The winter driving is not to bad in this car, but it's no 4-wheel drive either. My Vue may just be fluke, but this is my LAST Saturn!

Good looks, right price, bought it for fuel economy and daily in town driving, grocery getter. The cvt transmission seems to work well in town. Second gear (if you call it that) work very well in the Canadian rockies around Banff, Alberta

Weakness:

Not the gas mileage I expected,(but it was loaded up with 4 persons and gear. Hope it gets better with a few more miles. The previously mentioed problem is very concerning as a safey hazard.

Like the looks, price and hopefully fuel economy. Question? On 3000km road trip travelling at 110kph when then engine died, restarted, redlined at 8000rpm about 4 times in quick succession. felt like transmission was in neutral. Happened did this 3 tines between 1500 and 2000km. Has operated ok for next 2000km. Dangerous as hell! Has anyone had a similar experience?? dealer is going to check it out next week. if this has happened to you please email me at wnfoxden@shaw.ca

Strength:

exterior of vehicle good overall eye appeal. very peppy. turns tightly.

Weakness:

rattle trap. uncomfortable seats. cheap hard plastic interior.(i know its not a BMW but 24k is not pocket change and i would still expect something better than hard plastic throughout the interior). lots of road noise. Driver window sticks and wont roll up or down sometimes. occasionally wont start. been in the shop 3 times and of course they can never locate the problem .

i loved the look of this vehicle, but looks are deceiving. been in the shop 3 times to fix the same thing, suposedly a manufacturing defect that all vue"s have with a noise in the front end , needless to say its been fixed and still rattles. the driver window sometimes wont go up or down and of course ot wont do it while its in the shop so they wont even tear it down to look at it. terrible road noise. cheap interior. the steering will cause you to have a wreck if your not careful , dont excellerate much while turning because the steering wheel feels as if it locks and you go right into the curb or whatever is beside you .cheap exterior paint, mine is only a year old and already peeling over the door., hate the heavy tailgate. hard for me to lift or shut. mine does get good gas milage and i do prefer the exterior shape over anything else but i do not think i will buy another.

Weakness:

Do not drive in normal winter conditions. Make sure there is no sand, salt, or grit on the road. You buy a AWD vehicle for these conditions and it can not handle them. Save your Vue driving for summer.

Overall a very good vehicle but it does not stand up to winter driving conditions. The soft paint and plastics are easily gauged by sand, salt, and grit put on the roads in the winter. I recently went over the pass to Reno and upon returning found damage to most of the vehicle. A complaint file with Saturn in Tennessee resulted in a possible reimbursement of my deductable for an estimated $4000 in damage.

I noticed a fuel gauge problem within two weeks of purchase.Fuel gauge would either stay on full or stay on low no matter how much gas there was in the tank. Found out the gauge is in its fourth or fifth design. I had numerous discussions with dealer. Finally installed and then informed of another recall. Extremely dissatisfied with dealer and vehicle.

Strength:

looks, utility, plastic body panels, ride , handeling, low insurance premiums..basically everything

Weakness:

base sound system, (changing that asap!) low grade seat material on basic model..

for the price paid i absoulutely love this vehicle! got the basic fwd 5speed in black...looks much more expensive than what i paid for it..lots of room, looks great, handles great, plenty of power with the 5 speed very good gas mileage so far..the plastic panels are a big plus as this vehicle will be spend two days a week sitting on the street in ny city..the big rebates sealed the deal for me, 2000 factory, 1000 gm vehicle owner loyalty, plus 1000 gm card...4 gs off sticker...a total steal and everybody loves it! options jack the price quickly so i reccomend you keep them down to a minimum for this vehicle..great job saturn!

Model Reviewed: Saturn VUE

Strength:

-exellent handling and traction in snow,it's the most predictable handler I.ve had in a long line of 4wd trucks and suv's -great power and handling, fun to drive -very tight turning radius -superb sound system (I got the upgrade) -fits me like a glove (subjective but important when driving 4 hours after working 10) -galvanized space frame and plastic body panels mean no rust and dings even on crowded and salty Cape Cod.

Weakness:

-some engine noise at legal highway speeds, seems to be diminishing as it beaks in. -not many compartments for small item storage. -variable steering takes some getting used to but soon becomes a non issue.

I bought this car only to get to and from my house in Maine, used mostly for winter sports, so mileage and handling in snow were primary concerns.I got the AWD V6 and it is easily the best snow car I've ever had. My company car is a 1998 GMC Jimmy and the VUE absolutely embarrasses it in snow. Cape Cod recenty had a 17"snow storm and the VUE crawled right out my 300' driveway while the Jimmy packed the snow under the frame and took hours to dig out.On the highway, going 75-90 mph the mileage is a consistent 24mpg. This car is fun to drive and loves to go fast.It rides and handles better than any suv I've driven. I dont have a lot of miles on it but I've had no problems so far. If it proves reliable I will consider it the best car I've had. My only complaints are subjective, such as the window controls on the console, and I would prefer a tailgate to a hatchback, but these are minor.

Weakness:

short first gear Gas milage is always low when using an SUV Cab seat is slightly uncomforstable (only for long periods of time)

2003 VUE 4 CYlinder When we first bought it seemed to be okay. But the syncromesh was defective. So we only had it for 2 days and is was in the shop for the next seven. Even though I was disspointed the dealership was good about it. And so far it is great. I like the handling and it seems to have pretty good power for a 4 cylinder. I'm just learning to drive manual, and the 1st gear is a little short. It annoying when stopping alot. Overall I like it. GREAT PRICE!!!!

Very roomy Handles great Takes a good beating Good gas mileage

Weakness:

CD player skips when the temperature drops below 20 F 4-Cylinder could be a little more powerful

I've had this SUV since November, 2002 and have absolutly loved every minute of it. I have the 4-cylindar FWD manual transmission and it drives great for being a 4-cylindar. It's my first Saturn and I would recommend a Saturn to anyone who is in the market for a car and I would definately recommend the VUE. Being a college student, I drive my vehicle pretty hard and this SUV can take a beating. It is very roomy, having a greyhound to transport takes a lot of room and I have plenty of it. Gas mileage is great for an SUV, although I don't think it gets what it claimed. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.
