Strength:

reliability is great and always dependable.bose stereo systems is superior especially with the tweeters.very comfortable ride and has enough power for the highway driver.the vehicle is classy enough for the dressed up nights and also rugged enough for the outdoor trips.handles great in the snow.and most important only been back to dealer once for a minor rattle..

Weakness:

could use more leg room overall. first set of breaks were replaced at around 17,000 miles.tires are nice and big but the truck is 2.5 years old with 30,000 miles and i will need new tires soon.slight rattle in rear that cant seem to be fixed but it is so minor it is no big deal..

overall all this is an excellent suv. i have no major complaints and when the lease is up soon i may go and get a new pathfinder again..i recommend the truck to anyone who wants an suv...

Strength:

I love the looks of the car. The ride is extraordinary and is such a pleasure to drive around town. The standard 180 watt 6 cd in-dash, Bose system sounds great. Bottom line, its the funnest car Ive ever driven.

Weakness:

I think that a $32,000 top of the line Pathfinder should come with a power driver seat regardless if you purchase the leather option package or not.

I recommend everyone at least test drive it to see what all the fuss is about. Also the insurance was significantly cheaper than my previous nissan maxima. Very shocking to me.

I drove an Isuzu trooper for about 4 years, but this cant cant even be compared to a 2001 LE Pathfinder. The trooper was a truck and drove like one. The Pathfinder is so much more car like and luxurious.

Strength:

Powerful engine, beautiful interior, flawless, smooth ride, easy-to-use four wheel drive system, sound system, security features.

Weakness:

Gas mileage.

The new Pathfinder is the best in its class, bar none. The ride is terrific for a big vehicle, somewhat of a cross between a car and truck, but it is certainly much smoother than Jeep, Explorers, or 4Runners.

The engine is smooth, powerful, and quiet. The four-wheel drive system is suitable to all conditions, and you can change modes with the turn of a dial. The leather interior is actually nicer than the Acura's. All the car's systems work exactly as advertised.

The Pathfinder is a true value purchase. Just look at the competition...Ford's new Explorer has already been recalled three times and the base V-6 engine has 30 less horsepower for a vehicle that is heaviers. Jeep products are basically such junk that Chrysler has to continually support their sales with rebates and financing...they also ride like trucks, do not hold their resale value, and have awful reliability ratings. The Acura is a nice vehicle, with no track record, which is build on a Honda Odessy platform. The 4Runner is a truck, with a very unsophisticated 4-wheel drive system.

Finally, the Pathfinder excells in reliability. Consumer Reports lists it as one of the top three SUVs for reliability and performance (the others are the Lexus RX 300 and the Infiniti QX4, the Pathfinder's twin), and it also won JD Power's award last year for SUV owner satisfaction.

If you are going to spend $25,000 to $35,000 on an SUV, check the data and drive the Pathfinder...you will not be sorry.

Strength:

Decent suspension for minor off road use. Works great for about 60K miles.

Weakness:

(Short List) NO POWER, limited aftermarket parts, bad alignment problems.

Where to start... After owning 2 Bronco's, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and 2 Ford Rangers (GREAT TRUCKS!) I decided to buy a pathfinder. Since they first came out it appeared that they were a solid vehicle, and I have friends with Nissans that continue to run perfectly after many miles, however: The Pathfinder is NOT worth the money. It lacks power, agility, and space, which is only compounded by its bad driving position, and cheezy interior. I wish I would have kept my 4.0Liter Ranger, or my Jeep Grand cherokee, because this pathfinder is TOO DANG SLOW! My other complaints would be the quality of mechanic that you find in a Nissan shop.. They suck.

Strength:

* Good off-road.
* Nice interior & exterior designs.
* Has fairly good handling.

Weakness:

* Needs more engine power.
* Needs more leg room, i mean i'm having some problems & i always get stuck getting out of the back seat & i'm only 6'2" tall.
* The horn has a bad sound & i have changed it.

So far it has no problems of any kind, and for an average priced truck i think it's one of the best. And nothing is perfect you know, and if i had the chance and thay gave it more room i'd buy it again.

It's better looking then other similar SUV's.

Strength:

Very reliable vehicle.
At 130,000 miles, still no squeaks or rattles.

Weakness:

Very hard on fuel
Underpowered at times
Transmission does not have the finesse of North American vehicles
Exhaust manifold studs broken (as with every other Pathfinder - design flaw) which are very costly to repair ($1100.00)

Overall, I'm quite pleased with my 1995 Pathfinder. The engine is very solid, although a little lacking in horsepower. The automatic transmission is not as refined as some North American vehicles in that the tranny does not necessarily downshift when vehicle speed slows unless you push the accelerator to the floor to force it to downshift - generally just a lack of finesse.
The only problem I've run into is that the exhaust manifold studs have cracked which will cost in the range of $1100.00 to repair. This is not a maintenance item, but in my opinion, a design flaw from Nissan. Nissan has developed stronger exhaust studs to prevent this from happening again (so I'm told by the dealer). Nissan should stand behind their product and recall these vehicles for this defect.

Model Reviewed: Pathfinder SE 4x4

Strength:

*Great all around truck
*Lots of cargo room
*Quiet, smooth engine
*Nice ride - On and Off-road

Weakness:

*Suspension is a bit soft for an SUV
*Manifold leaks
*Not many aftermarket accessories
* If you install a grill guard, you lose the tow hooks up front
*Takes a while for the climate control to get 'warm air,' it's either cold or hot. It usual takes about a half hour before I can get 'warm air' I wonder if it is the climate sensor on the front dash?

I had no my problems with it so far other than maintenance stuff. Nissan did replace my exhaust mainfold for free, but in the process they mess up the rest of the exhaust system which they admitted and replaced everything except the tail muffler for free, which is nice because now I don't have to worry about that for another 3-5 years. Replaced my headlight bulbs with Sylvania White Light bulbs, much brighter and alot better/reliable than those fake HID bulbs. I've driven it in snow and the 4x4 works great. Got stuck this past season in Vermont on a hill which was completely iced over with a light dusting of snow. Patience and 4x4 Low and I got myself out, got a bit worried that I was gonna spend the night or until spring. Replaced the stock air filter with a K&N and you do get a bit more off the line. Gas mileage is average compared to other SUV, for those that complain about gas mileage, you should have bought a compact SUV. It is very smooth on the highway with very little engine noise even at 80 - 90 mph. Suspension is a bit 'soft' considering this is suppose to be the SE model and your pretty much stuck with using KYB shocks in the rear, but I think Koni is now making a shock. But the Pathfinder has been great since I've used it to haul bikes, snowboards, skiis, lots of landscaping material, sofabed, chairs, bricks and paddling equipment. Overall it's great for outdoor stuff as well as having it valet parked, after you get a car wash of course.

Strength:

The Pathfinder can go anywhere. I've driven it in the mountains, on paved roads, dirts roads, and even places where there are no roads. The on-road performance is as good as off-road performance. The Pathfinder has had no mechanical problems so far (with the exception of scheduled maintenance), with 70,000+ plus miles. The interior is comfortable, with plenty of room

Weakness:

Gas mileage isn't great, but that can be expected with any SUV. The head lights could be better when on low-beam. The alignment has never been right, it has a slight pull the right, and i've tried to get the alignment fixed three times. The engine could be more powerful.

I've never had a problem with the pathfinder and i'm happy i bought it. I use the pathfinder to go skiing and such, and find it more than capable in winter driving. I've heard of other owners having problems with the exhaust, but i either haven't experienced these problems or never will.

Similar Products Used:

Compared to other SUV's i've driven/ridden in, my Pathfinder is hard to beat. For some reason, I haven't experienced problems with high winds on the interstate, compared with other SUVs (explorers, Broncos, etc.) While other SUV owners are struggling on the highway, I like to past them.
