Strength:

Japanese quality of manufacture and resulting reliability. Lots of interior space for a vehicle in this class. Amazing off-road capability.

Weakness:

High profile creates problems on the highway in strong crosswinds and when behind 18-wheelers. Keep your hands on the wheel! Plasticky interior, but it has worn very well.

It''s difficult to find anything bad about this machine. After 11 years of ownership and 108K miles, all that has been needed is scheduled maintenance, and a malfunctioning rear door lock switch. It off-roads well, despite its length, and has been into Canyonlands via Bobbys Hole with no problem. Still no squeaks or rattles, even with some pretty severe use. On the highway the ride and handling are both pleasant and confidence-inspiring. 12 years old and still no rust!

Strength:

Very Smooth Drive Train with the 5 speed train on the Highway but it really shines off road. The Automatic stick shift is a great feature for off road

Weakness:

Great CD/Radio but No Cassette! Big Door is not as usefull as a split door when using a hitch Bike Rack.

Great Vehicle, alot quality features for the Money compared to other quality real off road SUVs like Sequoia and Discovery II. Very respectable on Road. Need to fix the issue with Consumer Reports to sell more vehicles and keep resale up.

Pickup & ride. Amount of room! Cost!

Weakness:

Not enough leg room in driver''s area to the left side of legs. (men) Speakers.(not enough) Dealer has tough on silly little issues, such as a 2nd alarm key box. It looks like that issue will finally be resolved after a 4th trip to the dealer!

Vehicle is much nicer looking than it''s previous model years. Handles great so far and has alot of room. The standard features are more than adequit. My wife will be driving it & she loves the way it handles, which was a pleasant surprise.

Great SUV, period. Handles well in all conditions and has an excellent ride. I have ownd several american suv''s and the ride in all others was inferior. Gas mileage is poor, but I don''t expect much from suv''s.

Strength:

Great 4x4, great looks, great luxury feeling interior, huge sunroof, nice handling

Weakness:

Slowest in SUVs - but doesn''t feel like that, horrible retail value - drops about $10K first year, Yokohama tires are REALLY bad - I bought a new set of Michelin Cross-Terrains - totally different feeling driving the car - feels like a different car! Smoother, better cornering, softer right, better handling.

Great SUV! Love it! Have it alrady for 11 months - nice looking, nice feeling driving it and lots of fun going off-roading!

Similar Products Used:

Acura MDX - love everything about it, including resale value. Montero has a nicer exterior IMO. BMW X5 - nice, but too expensive and not SUV-like
