Strength:

Nice looking appearance and modelling. 4 wheel drive. Decently comfortable in rear seats, with its own air conditioning which i need at all times.

Weakness:

Too much to talk about.

This is a below average automobile. For the first few months or so it was decent and drove with relative reliability and power. AFter that it went downhill, the brakes suck and its replaced like eveyr 3 months. At high speeds on the freeway gets a little uneasy, and high speeds i mean like (70 mph). Its a nice sporty luking jeep with nice curves and looks, but if you are looking for an actual traditional jeep thats built tought you definintely dont want the Montero Sport. Also, if you like a little bit of speed this machine ain''t for you, it takes about like 13 seconds to reach god damn 60 mph, not exactly a fast pickup. Could use another 30 or so hp.

Nothing too similar. Had a CHevy Impala but not too similar. BTw the montero is my family car, my own is an RSX which is defintely not similar.

Strength:

Luxury inside and out for an SUV. Ample power. Great sound system. Featurs like seat heaters, rear heater, auto dim rear view and top grain leather make this a delight to drive and take friends places in. The fit and finish is perfect - the paint is remarkable with absolutely zero defects. The color, Arctic Metalic White is cool (hot in Florida) and KEWL! Looks great!

Weakness:

I am still looking for one. I guess the best I can do so far is I wish the doors locked automatically and I would probably have bought a poswe seat if it were an option. Otherwise, I have every othion there is on it.

There is a slight rattle someplace under the front passenger''s seat. Otherwise, the car is absolutely the best vehicle I haver owned or driven!

Traded an Astro van. Had two of these. Driven many other vehicles and - like I said above, this one is the very best ever.

Model Reviewed: Montero Sport LS

Strength:

Obviously, lean muscular looks for it''s relatively low price class. Smooth engine (165 hp)and transmission. The factory Yokohama tires provide a nice balance between ride and handling. Good content (no options) in the LS for the price. Quite good sound from the six speaker single-CD changer. Significantly more room and standard features than similarly priced Honda CRV, Toyota RAV 4, Jeep Liberty and Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute. Supportive, firm seats without being hard.

Weakness:

Could use another 25-30 horsepower if I ever pull anything with it. A bit buzzy at 75+ mph, the tach reads nearly 3,000 rpm. More wind noise than I would like at freeway speeds. Though the standard cloth upholstery is reasonably attractive, I would prefer leather and am considering an aftermarket installation. Only fair fuel mileage (19 mpg thus far) may be the result of the little V6 working too hard.

Didn''t find your website until after I had purchased my Montero. Might have had second thoughts! It seems that the reviews straddle no middle ground; owners either love or detest their Montero Sport. After the first 2,000 miles, number in the former group. I''ve historically bought new vehicles every two to three years and typically buy something when it''s a new model or newly restyled. Obviously the Montero Sport is deep into its model cycle, but I''ve decided that''s an advantage. Maybe all those previous problems in prior years have been resolved. This is the FIRST new vehicle that after 2K miles, I''ve had ZERO defects or complaints. I''ll give you an update in a year or so, when my Sport has 25 or 30 thousand miles. That seems to be when folks see the brakes go.

None, really. We have a ''99 Dodge Caravan Sport, which feels lumbering and quite dated compared to the Montero Sport.

Strength:

NONE.

Weakness:

First of all the engines are weak. I had an oil leak but at the service dept. they found nothing. Now after 2 years, 36000 miles, 8 oil changes, and constatly putting in more oil between changes, the motor needs to be replaced. They claim that I never put any oil in the car and that I am making up the fact that I put oil in the car. My family does my oil changes and kept a log on when we changed the oil, mileage at change and who was the one who changed the oil. Still under warrany but they are now saying that it is my fault! They laughed at our oil change log and said that as long as we didn''t have any proof from a "oil and lube" company, they will not believe that any oil was ever put in the truck. Warranty even says that it doesn''t matter who does your servicing nor do you need proof of your servicing like receipts but now the dealership has a different view. The cloth on the seats is already falling apart. Paint chips easily. Tires lasted 20000 miles. The breaks went out at 15000 miles, both front and back. Was told at dealership, I was told that the car us completely upgradable (stereo, speakers, 4WD, etc.) I found out differently when I actually went to upgrade

BAD ENGINE, OIL LEAK. WARRANTY NOT UPHELD. TIRES REPLACED AT 20000 MILES. BREAKS REPLACED AT 15000 MILES. DO NOT PURCHASE!

well after a 1year and 7 months of the stress of owning a montero sport.i desided to valentry repo the montero back to mitsubish motors corp.because they could and would not fix the problems with the truck.i lost my ass on this montero.and some poor consumer will by it at a dealer used only to find after they buy it .thats its a piece of junk, once you drive out of a mitsubishi dealership your screwed.they dont care about you or the svu you just bought.so if you deside to by one good luck you might get a good one, what you should first ask your self is what am i going to do if i have problems.and i have just paid 29000 .and no one wants to fix it.i still have to make the payment.and i will never get the money out of it if i sell it or trade it in.i feel sorry for people when i see them driving a montero.they will never get me to buy another one of there cars again.buy a chevy they are great truch and suvs i have had 3 blazers and would buy another.good luck dont let them such you in to buying a motero sport.

Strength:

What strengths? The vehicle was a complete disappointment for me.

From the day I purchased the vehicle, I have made numerous trips to the dealership. NOT to prasie the vehicle or to thank the dealer, but to attend to many anoying and frustrating mechanical problems with the car. First it was an alingment problem. Then it was an electrical problem to do with the radio and the turn signal. And then it was an oil leak. To date (over a month) the vehicle is at the dealership unable to diagnose and fix a noise that seemed like a wheel bearing. The Montero has received a new transfercase and a new transmission in solution to this problem, but it is still not fixed. And did I mention? The car only has 15,000 MILES. So anyone could understand my frustration. This has lead me to take action against Mitsubishi Corp. and the dealership. Like I have nothing better to do with my time, now I have to deal with the stress of owning a MONTERO SPORT! In conclusion I would not recomend anyone to buy a Montero Sport or any other Mitsubishi product. The service at the dealership is and has been very unsatisfactory and Mitsubishi Corp. has been very pour in their response time. They are still to get in touch with me. A word of advise before you commit to a Mitsubishi, consider your options and don''t be misguided by the praise this car gets, it is not all that.

Strength:

Looks, power (3.5 litre V6), interior room, ride, handling, over-all value

Weakness:

Resale, A/C, brake life,

I sold my S-10 ZR-2 so my yellow lab could comfortably enjoy roadtrips with me and my wife. The front-folding rear seats make plenty of room for luggage and a 100lb dog. I opted for the Limited with leather interior and although I wish I had the 4 x 4, the bigger V-6 has proven to be sufficient and relatively easy on the gas budget. I''m getting between 19-22 MPG on the highway. I''ve got about 22K miles and am already looking to get front brakes (My wife''s CL has 50K and just now needs brakes) so that''s a bummer. I''m also a little disappointed with the A/C. Leather seats in Texas scream for a heavy-duty A/C. Other than that, I''ve got no complaints and the looks still have me. I also think it''s a bit roomier than the 4-Runner and Pathfinder. I am concerned about the resale but I''ll drive this thing into the ground so it''s not that big of a deal. For those in the market, I recommend the Montero Sport if you plan to keep it for 5-6 years but if you''re looking to move onto something else soon, check out a 4-Runner or MDX.

Strength:

Comfort ride, nice seating. Heater / AC blows great in both weather condions (hot and cold). Very responsive,,, no lack of power out of the 3.0L. I have not go to use the 4x4 yet... but from what I read... it will be great.

Weakness:

Cup Holder right above car radio which makes it heard to turn volume on stereo down or up...or just to change channels.

So far so good. I purchased this Montero Sport from my trade in as an upside down deal still oweing 4,000 after trade in. but I say I still got a good deal on the Montero Sport.
