Strength:

-Nice sound system
-Comfortable seats
-Great power
-Good gas mileage (around 20 in the city, which is better than advertised)
-Good cargo room
-Versatile
-Car attracts ALOT of attention
-ROOMY!

Weakness:

-Unmatching, rattling, squeaking door and dash panels
-Fake wood on doors
-I recently burnt out a bulb in the rear of the car, and nothing warned me of this. I also have a 1989 BMW 5 series in my residence, and it warns me of all misfunctioning parts, including burnt out brake lamps. When you drop nearly 45k on a car, you expect things like this.
-CD changer shouldn't be in the trunk
-Front armrest might as well be made of granite
-Cheap cupholders aren't adjustable to beverage size
-Lack of mandatory features in this class (power headrests, memory seats, rear armrest, windowshades, automatic climate control, etc.)
-Toyota Corolla's have variable intermittent wipers. Why can't an expensive Mercedes have them too?

I'm still not sure how I feel about this vehicle in general. I do know that it is very comfortable, and it packs a great mix of fuel efficiency and power. Being a first time Mercedes user, I at first didn't notice anything to be out of place. After a while, I realized that all of the MLs Mercedes siblings are treated to amenities that this particular SUV lacks - like power seat switches on the door, leather swatched door panels, REAL wood trim on the doors, etc. Part of me feels majorly ripped off with this car, and another part of me loves it. Right now, it really is the car that we need most (because of its blend of truck, car, and luxury). I keep seeing and hearing of the newer MLs, with the more Mercedes-like features and upgraded luxury. I'm torn between buying another M-class. It's a great car; it's a terrible Mercedes-Benz.

Strength:

good power, comfortable and good dealer support

Weakness:

electrical system, computers and sensors are cheaply made. Mercedes knew they had a lemon and pushed it to cusomers.

Not what a Mercedes should be. Lots of problems with this model. Windows onot working properly, computers malfunctioning, moon roof lining faulty, sensors malfunctioning, tow bar alarm malfunction, battery corrodes, ignition key and starter failures. This is the worst car I have ever owned and I have had Porches, BMW's and Chevrolets to name a few. Overpriced, underengineered and overratted. I do not recommend anyone buying this car and I shall not buy Mercedes again (previously I have owned 3). ML stands for Magnificent Loser!

Strength:

addictive power, torque, sure footed, decent handling for SUV, nice leather, all options including nav system and serious sound system, excellent down shift with the automatic

Weakness:

tricky tip in throttle, gas mileage, exterior paint chips easily, very hard to obtain AMG, expensive, smooth shifting automatic cuts throttle when shifting, need to eliminate spare to accept 3rd row of seats.

Power is addictive, especially from 55mph. Acceleration is effortless and endless. No doubt will hit 150mph if foot is left planted. This is one seriously quick truck. Starts from traffic lights are tricky. Full throttle otherwise slow starts (dont forget a four wheel drive vehicle. Sure footed while driving in rainy south Florida. Engine and exhaust note are incredible from inside the cabin. All weaknesses are erased with a heavy right foot. Handling is surprisingly good for SUV (even compared to my M3).
Extremely hard to come by. Purchased mine from a friend.

to have the best of the Off/On road world. Build quality is much much better and the car feels soild and well build. Great off road with the smart 4x4 system.

Weakness:

No auto A/C and no audio contorl on the wheel.

This is the best off/on road car/truck to own. look no further.

Strength:

- Great handling. Far superior to the 1998 Grand Cherokee Ltd.
- Very quiet
- Superb finish, inside and out.
- The access to and from the vehicle is much easier paricularly for women.
- Excellent 5 speed automatic transmission.
- Very comfortable seats for driving long or short distances.(I prefer
firm seats over the sofa type).
- The back seat is very confortable with a better view for the passengers.
- Great idea to have the radio, cassette,cd,telephone and navigation all
contained in the one Modular Control System.
- Incredible vehicle for the dollar.

Weakness:

-very hard to identify any weaknesses. The only ones that comes to mind is
the Donut spare tire. Although I haven't had a flat on any vehicle in 20 years I would still prefer a full size spare tire. However, I can live with it!
-The only other area an improvement can be made is with the air conditioning.Although it works great it would be better to have an actual temperature setting.

I've been an owner of a Mercedes Benz vehicle since 1986 and recently purchaed my 2000 ML 320E for $58,000 Having owned other vehicles I can honestly say that it would be very difficult for me not to own a Mercedes Benz. If well maintained (as all vehicles should be) the Mercedes will give you many years of driving satisfaction. One doesn't tire of driving or owning a Mercedes Benz as you do with other vehicles. Although my
ML 320E is new I am confident it will serve me the same way my other Mercedes have. I am thoroughly enjoying my new ML 320E and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality safe vehicle.

Strength:

It has adequate power and nice features. I smooth running engine and transmission. Great interior room for 5 passengers with plenty of storage in the rear. Controls are many and nice. I suspect that the bumpers will scratch. Would be better to have darker rubber bumper and fender flares. I will add the Mercedes mud flaps to help protect behind the wheels. A very safe vehicle with six air bags and design that will handle a crash impact.

Weakness:

Cup holders are located in a bad place. Will probably spill large drinks and are easy to forget in the open position. Also the doors dont have that Mercedes feel when you close them. They sound a little hollow, but strong.

41,655 list, paid 39,800. i would recommend it at this point, however I will reserve full judgement until I have had the vehcle for a year or so.

Strength:

Sorry, the problems are so overwhelming that I can't quite see the value

Weakness:

Number of defects
Cars ability to live up to the Mercedes brand (perceived or real)
Return on investment

My overall impression is "Fraud". I am extermely disappointed with my first Mercedes Benz. I purchased the car because I thought the Mercedes brand stood for quality, reliability and value. I have recently learned that I was mistaken. My experience lacks all three. I have had more problems with this car than any car I have EVER owned. This would include the 1982 Buick Skyhawk I drove in college.

The car has had an unacceptable number of defects around problems that seem to be clustered in and around but not limited to the eletrical system. My locking system is like a possesion. They unlock and lock at their leisure. They actually locked me out on one ocassion while the keys were in the ignition at the gas station. The car got stuck in 2nd gear and before I knew it, the transmission had to be replaced. The whole dash system went out on me. The lastest is that when I replace the front healdlight with a new buld, the new one goes out in a week?????? This isn't half of the problems. I don't have enough space to write the long list of problems with the car and to top it all off, when I took it in this past week for MORE REPAIRS, they claim to have no record of the starmark extended waranty I purchased. I literally couldn't believe it. I'm already having nightmares about the countless phone calls and frustrating complaints I'll have to levey to remedy this latest barage of mechanical and administrative irresponsibilities over a product that just hasen't come close to my consumer expectations. I think I'd be better off in the Hundai SUV. For those of you who have had great experiences with your ML, "I envy you". For those who have not, I am starting an "ML320 fiasco" support group. "Is it me?"

Strength:

Gas mileage( but it's premium). Ability to trailer a 2000lb boat with ease even thouigh it's a six banger. Good bad weather vehicle. Decent ride. Six is plenty powerful enough for me, I wouldn't spend the extra bucks for the 8.

Weakness:

MANY little things. Rear seats are a real pain to get down, I curse every time I try. No controls on stearing wheel. Two speed wipers are being ultra cheap. No storage behind front seats(for maps etc.). Detaching diver visor is actually dangerous- if you don't yank it with both hands, it takes so much force you will automatically pull on the stearing wheel with your other hand if you don't use both- I almost had a wreck! NO compass. Hard to open hood(compared to Jeeps anyway). Bose sustem is much overated.

I think this car is at best the equal of the Jeep, and I have owned three Jeeps. The Jeeps only downside I have seen is their cheap brakes. When my lease is up, I will probably go back to the Jeep, but will at least consider the 320.

The best experience I have had with this vehicle is the dealer- Coppus Motors in Tiffin, Ohio. They have been great pepole to work with, both before and after the sale- a rare experience.

None. The car was never on the road long enough for it to have any strengths.

Weakness:

Everything. This car broke down so often the garage had 29 sheets of repairs under waranty on their computer. Even the cup holders gave up and broke.

I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy. It has put me off ever owning another Merc.

Things that went wrong included:

Worped Seat backs
Two sets of broken seat belts
Window screen washer sump
Fuel guage
Electrics - Unable to start
and many more.

The handling was also very suspect in bad conditions. The Merc lacks grip and was very poor in comparison to other 4 wheel drive models. My wife managed to spin the car doing 5 MPH in light snow. You should also see how much a set of snow tyres cost - if you can get them?
