This truck is a brute, since I have added full size BFG OFF-ROAD tires it has taken me deep into the mountans without getting stuck or breaking. I have had many off-road mis-haps with this vehicle and it keeps on running. I only change my oil every 15-20K miles and now I have 100k miles with no problems at all. The clutch still works strong. Highway performance is great for a truck. This thing will ease through corners at 75 mph. The styling, both in and out is great.
Weakness:
The V-6, my mistake. Never should of bought a full size truck with a mid size engine. It will move sufficiently, but you have to be patient with it. The V-6 with the automatic is worthless. Abs brakes freak out when you drive over bumpy surfaces and apply the brakes simultaniously. However, these brakes have saved me from many collisions where other braking systems would of allowed me to collide. Also, ABS computer failed at 45,000 miles. $1385.00 This is the single cab, 4X4, V-6 model with a five speed standard transmission. It has been extemely reliable since the first mile. Strength:
beauty, safety, ride (when tires are properly balanced)
Weakness:
don't get me started Who's writing the rave reviews, Ford personel? I certainly haven't had any good experiences with my Navigator. It's gorgeous, no doubt, that's one of the reasons I bought it. But besides that, zippo rewards! I'm a loyal Ford customer, so when I decided to buy an SUV, I wanted either an Expedition or a Navigator. I chose the Nav over the Expedition because of the side airbags. Expedition didn't even offer them in 2000. Well anyway, I hope the guys in service are enjoying my Navigator, because I never see it anymore. I just make the payments, provide the insurance, and contemplate the impairment to the resale value due the numerous & relentless unresolved defects. I have to admit though, the Lincoln dealership has been great about providing me alternate transporation. Lets see, I've had a Ford Explorer, a Ford Mondeo, a Lincoln Town Car (3 times) and a Ford Expedition. I'm still in the Expedition, 20 days now. I've driven just about every car in Enterprise's fleet. It's a joke with my neighbors, they're always asking what happened to my Navigator. THE PROBLEMS SO FAR? At 800 miles, our first road trip: a mysterious jerking & hesitation of the motor and or the transmission that today still eludes the technicians (unresolved) The Continental tires can't be balanced properly (the tires are defective, but they won't admit it) so the car shakes over 50 mph. Since then, a short in the the speakers (repaired) a rear window that works intermittently (unresolved, they can't duplicate the problem) sideview mirrors that won't hold their settings (unresolved, they can't duplicate the problem) and now the lights, a.c. and radio come on after the car is shut off. And the security system disengages itself. The first time it was taken in for this problem, they couldn't duplicate the problem, until it was on the ramp, being returned to me. Fortunately the lady at Enterprise had the sense to keep my rental on the lot, so I didn't have to wait again. The 2nd time I went to pick up the car, it did the same thing, but 30 miles from home. It had to be towed and cost me $60 in cab fare. So here I am, another rental car in the driveway, surfing the net, trying to find out if any other poor slob out there forked over 47k to Lincoln to ride the rental car merry-go-round. If you're out there and stumble upon this review, email me, we'll have a good laugh together. Similar Products Used: 2003 Expedition (rental) it's pretty nice! |

Strength:
Engine, the luxury style, all controls with in reach, the captain chairs in the back.
Weakness:
Will have enjoy better if the steering wheel will have had the option to also change track on the CD's or go from FM or AM to CD play. This vehicle was a dream car for my wife, so we purchase it for a great price. From the very first day we were amaze of the great handling of this SUV, the steering is awesome, the ride is smooth, and most of all the safety features that it has. GAS, SERVICE, DEALERSHIP HEADACHES, PLENTY OF ENGINE/ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS!!!!! I agree with every single one of you out there that say lincoln has the worst service ever. to this day i cannot stand to work w/ the dealerships or service dept. i prefer to do the work alone. for the last two years i drove a 1999 navigator, and for the first year or so i loved the car. then everything went wrong. lincoln has absolutly beautiful design, but unfourtunatly there quality is beyond horrible. I''m one of the very very few who were luck enough to get the lemon law on my truck and i have now beem given a 2001 navigator. and after 5 months, im sorry to say the same problems are starting again. so my honest opinion to you is that if you can somehow get a 6 month lease on the car, it will be the best car u ever have. but for those who opt for the more realistic 2-3 year lease.... your in for a looooonnnnnggggg 2-3 years of hassle, headaches, and near-death experiances. everthign else The worst truck ,i have driven, i do not advise anybody to buy this stupid truck, in the past 20 months, the truck was at the dealer for service more than 10 times. The ca r was only 5000, the aircondition quit, then the computer, then the electricity, finally last week i took out my ignition key , and the air condition was still working the at this minute at the dealer. I put 50000 miles, all high way in the past 20 months, the truck now is ready to go, i''m looking forward to get rid of it since i had problem with it since day one. I called Ford many times, they play it dumb , and they refused to change it for me, and left me suffering with it all the time. Similar Products Used: explorer |

Lincoln Navigator

Everything
Weakness:
It could use a little bit more power. But I’m sure that with the redesigned Navigator, more power will come with it. Ya know, I''ve been writing car reviews for a little over year now. It’s just something I do in my spare time. But when I am not doing things in my spare time, I see that we, as humans, live our lives based on a pattern. We get up, get dressed, get in our cars and go to work. However, we always seem to take for granted all the little things. With my 2001 Lincoln Navigator, there is a lot that I had taken for granted. And now that the lease is in its last month, I started to notice all of the little things that this massive SUV offers. I think that we take for granted all that we have, and we do not appreciate things to their fullest potential until they are gone. At least this is how I feel about my Navigator. I always used to love to drive my Navigator. I loved to hit the gas, and just listen to the massive 5.4-liter V8 flex all of its 300 horsepower, and send all 32 valves into constant motion. I never stopped to think about how much work the Engineers that designed the Navigator put into it. I never stopped to think about how hard these engineers had worked to join the engine and the transition together to form such a perfect harmony. I never stopped to think about some of the safety features that the Navigator has, such as the Control Trac 4WD system, or the four wheel ABS Brakes, or the fail-safe cooling system. These Engineers put a lot into this SUV. There is also the Securilock Antitheft system, and the side impact head and chest airbags. All this comes standard. One thing on my Navigator that makes it know as a Lincoln is its distinctive styling. Now I am not just talking about the chrome waterfall grille, or the wooden trim and leather on the interior. I am talking about some of the nice things that Lincoln has made available in the Navigator. I mean like the Rear Seat Entertainment System, or the reverse sensing system. Some other nice things consist of the signaling mirrors, power folding mirrors, navigation system, adjustable pedals, a moon roof, auxiliary climate control, and climate controlled driver and passenger seats. You don’t notice some things like the rear seat entertainment system, until you have little kids in the back seat. When these kids are playing these games, watching a movie, or just watching TV in the back of a Navigator, you know the engineers have done good because it make the drive easier for you by having the kids at peace Similar Products Used: Ford Expedition – The Expedition is underpowered and it lacks all the nice features that come standard on the Navigator. |
