The car handles well.
Weakness:
Longevity. The transmission needed to be replaced after only 30,000 miles. I need to replace breaks every 12,000 Miles! The car has been rattling since the beginning. I just returned it because the car is shaking again while breaking, this time with only 6,000 miles on the last set of breaks. I'm ready to trade it in and let it go. My Freelander now has barely 38,000 miles on it and it needs maintenance I would expect from a car with over 100K. I personally will never buy a Landrover, Jaguar any other Ford product again. I am trading the car in soon and am buying only Japanese products from now on. Their comparable products are far more advanced and far more reliable. |

comfort, reliability.

power is lacking for a V6 in a midsize but I have found that the sport option on the gear shift provides signifcant acceleration during long drives. I was a little concerned while doing research but couldn't pass up the deal I was getting. I have been pleasantly surprised. I have 34,000 miles on it and it is going into the shop for the 1st time tomorrow. The brake lights are stuck in the on position. It's probably just a short or a ground or a bad relay. Nevertheless, it's still under warranty. I drive up to 3,000 miles/month and have never had the slightest problem. Until this minor light problem, I have only had to buy a new battery and 1 recall for the jack. It is a pleasure to drive, and I drive a lot! |

Strength:
Appearance, soft top/ sunroof, used to be a smooth ride.
Weakness:
sound system already shot and mysterious transmission problems, VERY expensive maintenance. After reading these reviews I got such a chuckle. This car is beautiful. A fun alternative to the Jeep Wrangler. However, my windows are forever squeeking, the side door speakers are always cutting out, a service light is still coming back on, and something is up with my transmission....jerky gear shifting and high RPM's. I have taken my car in numerous time and my all time favorite was the "software update" that would solve my cars problems. I love this car but would love even more to not be worried about it breaking every five minutes. Similar Products Used: Nissan Xterra |

Plenty read above!! Rubbish all together and even worst customer service!! Just type in Land Rover problems and read the list of problems with Range Rover, Discovery and the most popular Freelander and make note on how they treat their customers. I vow never to buy another one again!! Should have listened to mates that knew about cars not to touch Land Rovers with a barge poll. Against their advice I went and purcahsed the freelander. Electrics on the car is crap, I paid extra for a 6 stack CD player that have constant E-99 error message, frequent brake pad change, front tyres wears alot quicker than the rear tyres, Remote central locking died, car lacks power and just this March my hydraulics to clutch kit and headgasket died!! Received quote for $7,000 worth of repairs, have decided to toll the piece of rubbish home until I can come up with the cash and then hopefully flogging to dealer asap!! Note my car only done 52,000kms never off road!! Even though Headgasket and Clutch failure is common LR refuse to take responsibility!! Nice looking, feels solid on the road, great interior, drives better than any other SUV at anything like its price.
Weakness:
Needs more horsepower, and a higher towing capacity would be nice. Otherwise, I am loving it.
I have almost a year in this thing, and there has yet to be a mechanical fault. Its great to drive, although slightly underpowered. The interior is great. Compared to the likes of a Ford Explorer, it is a Jaguar! Brilliant to drive on the road, competent for its size off road.

Not at all.
Weakness:
The car has no good points. This car is absoulte rubbish - DO NOT BUY A LANDROVER, 1st week of owing vehicle, electrical fault with back window, then drivers window went, then 8 months later head gasket has gone, within the same week of getting the car back it has gone back into the garage (towed by the way) making an awful noise, probably engine failure. The garage sold a warranty which is pants, warranty company say head cylinder has a crack, garage say it's head gasket, reapir it and give me the bill. I would like the money back, the car is rubbish. I think the car was patched up and sold onto an idiot like me. I have 3 young children and thought the car would be ideal. I am now sick with worry, I cannot afford to get the car repair and now have to pay back a £7000 loan with no car. I cannot afford to take out another loan. I am sick to the stomach. Garage could not care less. |

Good storage for off road. Leg room in front is good. Rubber matting is good on floor. This has got to be one of the worst performances I have ever experienced in a small SUV. Parts are breaking, electrical problems, leaks and comfort is lacking all around the design of this vehicle. Acceleration, none. Tip probability, definite. If this vehicle was meant for off road usage only I could understand the design. Do not purcharse for every day usage. More of a frustration overall. |
