More frequent brake servicing, minor parts failures. Bought this vehicle new. I read these negative reviews and wonder if I'm driving the same vehicle. I've been extremely pleased with the styling, handling and reliability. The only real surprise to me was brake pad replacement at 21K miles and again, with rotors, at 45K. One window regulator and the thermostat failed within the past year, but repaired no questions asked by dealer (who has been a total pleasure to work with and always provided a loaner when the car was ready the same day). I had more issues with my previous vehicle, 1992 BMW 325. Seems it would be hard for folks to complain about performance or interior design issues when all of that can be easily determined before purchasing the vehicle. I also wonder how many of these complaints could be related to lack of regular preventive maintenance or driving habits, or both. Also, folks should expect higher repair and maintenance costs for vehicles with expensive name plates. Similar Products Used: Jeep Cherokee |

All. Landrover should be ashamed of themselves. Since we have bought this piece of rubbish 12 months ago we have had a complete new fuel system, new radiator, new half-shaft, seat belt clips, transfer case, head gasket has blown and now we need a new motor Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Too many problems. Electrical Problems, windows, door latches, lots of stupid things. This truck has way too many problems. Lots of cheap parts were used. Luckily, the dealer that I purchased the truck from has been great at doing repairs and taking care of me. They understand that these vehicles have a lot of problems (especially the new LR3 which I was told NOT to buy because of the problems). I have brought the truck in for sunroof problems, transmission problems, windows, tires, brakes, windshield wipers and other smaller issues. I would never have bought this truck had I known the problems it would have caused me. |

Use the Freelander to teach your children that yes ignorance is expensive.
Weakness:
It's a quirky vehicle but isn't that the cost of admission into the club? If you want to stand out in the crowd sometimes these break-downs/tow ins are the price you pay. As a Land Rover technician I'm getting quite a laugh over some of these reviews. It's funny how none of these owners are willing to accept responsibility for their actions.

Looks good and I get a lot of compliments on it.
Weakness:
The repairs and money spent on repairs have been a nightmare. My Landrover Freelander has now been in the shop 2 weeks. It has spent about 6 times this year in repair. The rotors were bad, some kind of "air intake" thing, coils needed to be replaced, the sunroof needed to be repaired. I have not gotten out of the repair shop for less than $400.00 each time. Now they are telling me I need a new engine. It does have 94,000 miles on it, but I have had a Toyota Avalon, a Toyota Camry and Honda Accord with over 150,000 miles on each of them without a hint of the problems this Freelander has. Terrible everything. It had been in for service problems at least 10 times. We have an extended Land Rover warranty for our car. We brought the car in at 59,400 mile for transmission problems and repair! We were told our car was fine (in writing- we have the paperwork). Now, at 79,000 miles it needs a new transmission. . LR Spokane refused to honor the extended warranty because Land Rover Spokane said we did not have it serviced at 60,000 miles. Remember, we have paperwork stating we brought the car in at 59,4000 miles for transmission problems. We have only brought this car to Land Rover for service and repair. No one else. We were told to pick up our car. They will not honor the warranty or do the work. Similar Products Used: Land Rover LR3

Nice interior.

Will never buy another Land Rover product. Just went in for 60,000 mile service, according to dealer needs $1,800 new intake manifold. On leaving the dealership had complete failure of seals in power steering still being repaired, cost $1,700, dealer says not their fault just coincidence that seals failed while in their shop. Offered $8,000 as trade in before power steering went apparently even Land Rover doesn't think they are worth much. Similar Products Used: Mitsubishi Montero |
