Strength:

Top down and doors off. (I call it naked Jeep)
Power for off-roading and capabilities
reliablity (always runs, but not always perfect)

Weakness:

I hate the gas mileage
The carburetor sucks

The pleasures are worth all the pains, trust me. There is nothing better than cruising around on those sunny summer days with the top down and no doors.
The engine has about 95,000 miles and is running strong. I have problems getting it started on cold winter mornings (carberator problems), but then I have problems getting started on those same mornings. The thing still looks new. Only one other owner and it has been taken care of. The paint is very nice and no rust.
Finally, if anyone has any suggestions for changing the carb, email me. I am always open for help.

Strength:

We tow the Jeep behind our motorhome and easy to do with a stock Jeep even though ours is automatic. It is very light weight also. We love taking the top down on nice days. It is also nice to know that we can go off road. We added a Wilderness systems rack that can carry 350 pounds of gear on top. Accesories can be added to make the Jeep do whatever you want it to. It is noisy and handles poorly on the hiway but still feels good to drive. I admire the Jeeps simplicity.

Weakness:

Noise, hard to put groceries in the back.

I would recomend the Jeep Wrangler to anyone who wants to tow a vehicle as long as they don't have more than 4 in the family otherwise I would get a Cherokee. If you have a long commute and the Jeep will be your only car don't get one because of the noise, bad fuel milage and general beating you get.

Strength:

-4.0L Inline-6. While it's not refined, it's plenty torquey
-Off road capability. I've upgraded the tires and disconnected my sway bars and I can go almost anywhere!
-Style. It just looks SO good!
-Comfort. The dash and seats are surprisingly refined looking and feeling
-Other Jeep owners. We have the Jeep "wave" and of course the off roading events.

Weakness:

-Well, it's as bad as they get on road. Not great handling, and not a great ride. It is more comfy than the current Blazer, though.

If you're not going off road, there are plenty of cute-utes and cars that will suit you fine. Frankly, the Wrangler is no fun at all on the pavement. It feels tippy (although I can assure you they're very safe. The roll bar is much stronger than a typical roof, and front and side impact protection is great. Look at the government's testing!).

But if you plan to regularly use the Wrangler off road, go for it.
-skip the ABS. It's detrimental off road and the brakes are good anyways
-go for the factory Dana 44 differential and the limited slip. They aren't expensive and they're more than worth it unless you plan to go for a rear locker. I have the Dana 35, which is fine I guess, and the limited slip, which- next to the air conditioning- was the best option I selected. I rarely lose traction
-go for the 30" wheel and tire package. I didn't because I thought they were ugly, and that was dumb. I ended up installing bigger tires anyways! If you plan to install some meatier tires, the factory wheels are fine, but otherwise the 30" package is worth it.

I looked at the Jeep Cherokee- that was nice, and I'm still considering a trade for either one of those or the upcoming Liberty so I can take some longer trips to off roading events without hurting my ears and being tired after 2 hours of driving! Whine, whine.

Strength:

Off roading is a blast and nothing has to be done to get back on the road. The ride is great with quick manuverability and the roof comes off easily. There are so many extras to get for this that you can spend what you initially paid for the vehicle within the first year of Ownership.

Weakness:

I live in Maine with all the snow coming down and the highway crew placing salt and sand on the road. The nearly vertical windshield catches a lot of salt and sand making it difficult to see and breaking windshields. Also if you hit a bump in the road not entirely straight the rocking of the vehicle throws you side to side.

I would recommend this vehicle highly. The price is low compared to other 4x4's and the versitality of the vehicle outranks anything. I would recommend spending the extra money to get the Sport edition (ie the 4.0L engine)as it is more reliable and outperforms some sports cars. I have had only some small repairs that were covered by the warranty and my dealer goes out of his way to make me happy.

The short wheelbase limits the rated towing capacity compared to other 4x4's but it will do a lot more and the off road will go around in circles. What other SUV allows you to go convertible for a day or the entire summer.

Strength:

I LOVE MY JEEP !!! It can go anywhere, do anything, and do it quickly. It i have not had a thing go wrong with it so far, and when i thought something was going wrong the guys up at the dealership took care of everything. In the summer the convertable top is so much fun and a hard top in the winter keeps you warm where ever your at.

Weakness:

Its no grocery getter' so for the family man out there unless its your second car id look elsewhere. I dont have to comute far to work or take any kids to soccer practice, and i dont think it would be the greatest choice for that. A dual topped 4.0L spoort is deffinately worth the money if you have it at the time of your pruchase but if not then Mopar makes it extremely easy to add anything to your jeep you need. Keep in mind tho its NOT CHEAP. I could easily drop well over 15000 into my jeep and still have more that i could do to it.

Unless you have 20 kids and 100 miles a day to comute to work go out and get one tommorow, JEEPS RULE!!!!

Strength:

Great Offroad capabilities right out of the box! 4.0 Liter has good power runs very well. Great in the winter with 4wd and fun in the summer with the top down. Easy to work on with a huge aftermarket following.

Weakness:

Can be a bit loud on the highway. Very addictive upgrade bug can bite when you are not looking.

To date it has been great to own. It is a daily driver with two child seats in the back and has been very reliable. It is a fun vehicle to own and my kids love it and my oldest even looks for other jeeps on the road.

It is an absolute champ for both inclement weather and great weather!

Strength:

It's a Jeep, what more can I say...
great offroad capability right from the showroom floor, even better with a few mods

Weakness:

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand...
unless you have one, and then you know that the electrical system sucks, the 4 cylinder sucks (on the highway) and the stock tires suck and should be replaced with mud tires as soon as you get your Jeep.

The Jeep TJ is a totally impractical vehicle that can be dangerous to your wallet, especially if you start modifying it...other than that, I can say I will probably never drive anything else.

Please, for the love of Jeeps, if you don't intend on driving it offroad, don't buy a Jeep...get a CRV or RAV4 or Subaru...

There is nothing to compare the TJ to...it kicks a$$!!!

Since owning my Jeep I have enjoyed the driving experience more than any other vehicle I've ever driven(except for my classic Mustang that I've owned since I was 13). The overall Jeep quality and the vast aftermarket products available should keep the fun factor going for a long time.

Anyone looking for a good quality, reliable, reasonably priced but all out fun vehicle should go ahead and buy a Jeep Wrangler.

Strength:

The Wrangler is definatly the best vehicle off road! I dont know how you could say that a car without a solid axle would do better than one with one. You can do cheap, easy mods to the wrangler to make it resemble your driving personality. PArt time 4WD is incredible, I love them and would not trust being in any other IFS vehicle.

Weakness:

Gas mileage

I love the Wrangler. the straight six is very powerful, the car is light enough to where when you do do go off roading you wont get nearly the same amt of problems as you would in a heavier car, and the car has a solid axle, personally i would never by a car that was all time 4WD and had IFS
