Strength:

Smoother Ride than previous Wranglers
Responsive, with a tight turning radius
Fun and Waterproof

Weakness:

Loud, though this is an excellent excuse not to answer my cell phone.
Gas mileage, but the 4 wheel drive in a Michigan winter will more than make up for that, we have about 3 weeks before I'm expecting snow.

This has been a great ride. Fun, easy to drive in the "construction" I mean summer season here in Michigan. Generally, waterproof so far.

Strength:

After owning two Hondas (Accord and CRX) I decided to try out something new, different, powerful, cool-looking and capable of behaving like a tank on any terrain. One answer: Jeep Wrangler (Sport). With its 181 horses and 6 cylinder engine, this monster eats small children for breakfast. ;-) I went ahead and put a few extras on it to add to its already bad ass look. 31 inch wheels and a black steel bumper with tail gate covers.

I got a dual top - right now I have a hard top on. There is a million parts out there to add to your jeep - let you customize the exterior/interior look, engine parts, and a whole lot more. I have been driving my jeep now for about 3-4 weeks and I love it. It is so cool losing that "laying in a bath tub" sensation that I got while driving my CRX. You feel in the control with the Jeep. Women come out of woodwork and beg for a ride. :-))) 4 wheel-rides are a blast and this vehicle can take on anything. I highly suggest upgrading the wheels as it gives more clearance and better tracking on any terrain + it makes it look really cool.

Weakness:

Gas mileage - 16/18 mpg (but than again, I rather have the power, fun and protection than a few extra bucks saved on gas)

Security - anyone can open your gas cap and your hood and do as they please. Daimler-Chrysler should ask their engineers to wake up and add a lockable hood and a lockable gas cap. 3rd party vendors sell these parts. Buy 87 octane - you will get a better fuel economy than buying Premium or Super (owner's manual confirms this fact) which do not add to your jeep's performace (actually lower performance) and tend to burn faster.

I paid around $ 29 K for a brand new Jeep Wrangler Sport. That is a grand total (modification parts from Mopar, tax, title...). I picked a yellow colored Jeep because it stands out and it actually looks very cool with a lot of black on it to contrast its yellow body (black hard/soft top, black bumper, etc.)

Believe me the Jeep is worth every penny. Add some spice to your life and get a Jeep... ;-) You'll love it!

Weakness:

Noisy, Mileage (19/18 MPG)

I have been running this Jeep for over 11 years and 110000 miles. Outside of the soft top I have never had any major service repairs, outside of the expected maintence items. Everyone comments the Jeep still looks like new and I feel the interior and the exterior look great. The Jeep rides like a tank with 4WD. I mean it will go through anything! I have done well off-road and through several feet of snow.

Jeeps are great to accessorize. The top on this model is a pain compared to the newer models. The door come off and that is a lot of fun. Its a great car for having fun but a bit rough and noisy for everyday commuting. I have removed the back seat for additional storage and space.

Great cars and a lot of fun.

Strength:

The best Jeep I have owned and driven, not to mention the intenseblue color rocks. Jeeps take a special person to love them and want to drive them. The TJ spreads that love to a few more people, by adding a few more creature comforts not present in any of the othe, top down fun in the sun series of Jeeps. This Jeep has enough power (still wish they would stick a V8 in these)to turn 35" tires with proper gearing, and it is totally upgradable....bumpers, gearing, lockers, bigger tires, lifts, all kinds of accessories.
I see alot of people complaining of gas mileage ,but I like being able to get 15 miles/gal. in lowrange with the A/C blasting on a hot summer trail run. After all, I didn't buy it to pound pavement with all the time. I have the automatic, and I must say it makes offroad driving easier.

Some people say the soft top is noisy, must not have driven a Jeep before 1995. I thought I had gotten the hardtop when I hopped in my TJ to drive it home drom the dealer. It is a lot more quiet!!

Weakness:

Other than breakages incurred during severe offroad situations (Rear pinion seal blown, fender smashed by tree, scratches) I haven't had too many problems with the new Jeep. They do use some cheap parts on some of the driveline, usually need to be replaced after repeated offroad excursions. But, if you have any problems, you may need to shop around for a competent dealer to service it, that was the hardest part for me.
The interior is aweful nice, you tend to not want to get it dirty. I waited at least 4 months before i did.

1999 TJ
IntenseBlue w/ White soft top
4.0L/Automatic/3.73
A/C
$22,214 retail....ordered from dealership friend of father-in-law for $19,500
Deff. worth the price for what you get.
Top down fun.
If your going to get soft top, I would deff. recommend the hard doors. This will reduce the noise, and it's a lot more fun to take them off.
I would tell anyone who wants to buy a Jeep, to be prepared to give up some of your luxuries it is a Jeep. It will ride a little different, it will get a lil' less better gas mileage, but it a blast to have.

My dad owns, a white 1998 Jeep Wragler. I am his a 16 year old son. We LOVE it I think its great. My dad dosent mind the slowness of the 4 cyl. We even tow a 1600 lb camper with it and travel up to West Virgina. It actually dosent do to bad in the big mountians even when towing. I love it especially with the top down. I got my permit about 6 months ago and I like driving it. Just got my license like a week ago, but driving my car. It wasent to hard to learn to drive a stickshift on the Jeep either. Most awsome four wheeling vehicle ever form the dealer, mabey except for the Hummer. We love it, when we got to West Virgina we have a blast. My dad says its great in the snow, he says if he would have known how well it was it the snow he would have gotten a Jeep along time ago. Love taking the top down it the summer, so many differen combinations you can do too.

Weakness:

It is a bit of a gas guzzeler but not a whole lot. Had some engine trouble but got that fixed. Hey this is too the other guy that said he also had engine trouble. Ours backfired and ran bad too and it seemed to get slower and have less horsepower. If that is the problem your having, check your spark plugs man. Thats what was rong with ours, the dealer changed it and it was like new, it happened agian and me and my dad just changed them ourselves. Probably a misfire due to the spark plugs man check that out. We took ours to the dealer and they figured it out. But get somone to check you sparkplugs or change them, that could be the problem. Lots of other people have had this problem to our dealer said so you and me arnet alone if that is your problem. If you need more info or help email me at s_elters@yahoo.com.

We both love it. I give it a 4 star for value and a 5 for overall.

Strength:

- off road capabilities
- powerful engine
- appearance, it is very recognizable
- great handling
- convertible

Weakness:

- pretty noisy on highways even with hard top and very noisy with soft top
- ride is bumpy on backseat
- gas mileage is low
- enough space only for two people with gears

It's a nice little beast with powerful engine. Best off road vehicle you can buy out there. When we bought price was very acceptable it but now it's going up (at least here in Bay Area).

My wife and I love this car. It served us well in winters and summers taking to ski slopes or remote trail head locations. We always knew that we will be there, no matter how bad the weather is or how rough the road is. But traveling in Wrangler takes it's toll. You should be fun of this kind of cars to ignore noise and don't feel uncomfortable on long journeys. You don't have enough space for gears for more then two people. Once we traveled with friend (it made three of us) and he was buried in gears on the back seat. Also if you go topless it can get pretty windy on the back seat. But hey, this car is like no others.

I would recommend it if you:
- are looking for a small, reliable off-roader.
- do not spend much on highways
- do not need to carpool with more then one friend (or you don't carry a lot of stuff with you)

I would not recommend it if you:
- put luxury and comfort above anything else
- drive 90% on highways
- used to carpool with more then one friend
- like to carry a lot of stuff with you
- worry about gas mileage

Looks great, lots of fun to drive, 4WD off roading, taking the top down, CD sound system, the 4cyl engine gets okay gas mileage with decent power, fellow Jeep owners giving you props.

Weakness:

A bit tippy, dont make sharp turns - just drive over it! Its not especially quick off the line but I hope thats not what you were after in a Jeep.

First, I must say Ive only had the Jeep 3 months so I cant vouch for its durability over time, I will submit another review in a few years. That said, I LOVE the Jeep. It is great both off and on the road. Ive taken it through the woods and to the beach with no problems. I have read a bunch of reviews saying that the SE was under powered, I disagree. With the stick shift and a good driver, its fine. Its definitely not FAST but it has plenty of power. If you need more oomph down shift! My girlfriend thinks its cool (she's not the only one) and my dog grooves on riding in the back. I got the extended warranty (5 year/75,000mi) so Im not too worried about it holding up,so far so good. Enjoy your Jeeps yall!

Smooth Ride, Performing engine, cool Looks, point & drive, handle like a sports car, best bang for the buck, Harley like heritage, this car has pedigree!!!!

Weakness:

A/C should have more cooling power as temperatures tend to soar to 55 degrees centigrade in these parts. Could do with a 24 valves engine for better power delivery and better mileage.

Previous Owner of a 1991 Wrangler, The 2000 Sahara is a limo in comparaison, cool ride, performing smooth engine beats all the japs out there, I am getting mine after I had a test ride. I was about to get a 98 2 doors Montero, I was discusted with the body lean and the lack of power, feels like a sawing machine on steroids. The Jeep is a forgiving car/truck, lots of fun and power. I am 40 years old and I think this is the best car I got, it rejuvenate your senses and make driving to work a fun excersise. Go out and get one now, forget porshes this truck kicks ass!!!
