Strength:

Simplicity, capability, versatility -- freedom to explore!

Weakness:

Not great gas mileage but I''m not complaining!

Great Vehicle. Some people complain about things like "the canvas top is noisy & I can''t hear my passengers well or use my cell phone". My response is: "Why did you buy a Wrangler"? This vehicle is made to handle off-road adventure in a fun & capable manner & this is just what it does & then-some". I love the wrangler b/c it is true to its mission & does not sell-out! If you are an outdoor enthusiast who seeks the "Fundamental things in life", the Jeep won''t let you down!

Strength:

Incredible capabilities off-roading, such as hillclimbing, fording water, climbing logs, etc... A real sense of being right out there in nature the way it was intended... Turning radius is tight for those tight spots... Plenty of stock clearance height... All around good looks

Weakness:

A little short on room, but thats Jeep, Gas mileage could improve, A little tougher paint job wouldn''t hurt

My TJ is the best vehicle I have ever owned. Sure, it may not be as luxurious as a $50,000 SUV, but it is not meant to be. For true hardcore four-wheel fun, the Wrangler is about the best there is. Most of the folks who own an expensive SUV have never traveled off the pavement. The Wrangler gives you the best of both worlds; it is a good vehicle for the road and city driving, and yet it has the capability unlike any other to tackle any off-road obstacle. After all, if the Jeep wasn''t as good as it claims to be, why would the same basic model have been in production for over 60 years, and why would people continue to buy them? It has over time proven to be one of the best 4x4''s ever built...There''s only one!

Strength:

good torque for a 6 cyl, steers and handles very nicely...for a Jeep. The ride is smoother than previous Jeep wranglers.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, the soft top flaps in the wind making it unable to chat with passengers or without yelling. Passengers can''t use their cell phones due to the wind noise. Lack of lockable trunk without purchasing the metal cover to create it. The stereo is the worst stock stereo I have ever heard.

Overall, it is a nice vehicle. If you are used to driving a convertible muscle car with lots of bells and whistles, don''t buy a Jeep Wrangler, you will hate it.

Model Reviewed: Jeep Wrangler Sport

Strength:

--Off-road capability is unmatched. --Great looks. --Variety of configurations: doors, tops, lifts, trims, etc. --Easy to drive, especially in city traffic. --The soft top is GREAT. I don''t understand people that say it is a pain in the @ss. I can lower it and store the windows in the Jeep in less than 3 minutes. Raise it from the fully stowed position and driving off in 5. --Power and reliability from the drivetrain. --Fairly respectable sound system. YOU CAN HEAR it, and really enjoy it, at highway speeds - with the top down. You just need the soundbar and the stock subwoofer.

Weakness:

-- Gas mileage is poor. Even for an off-road vehicle. The technology is out there to address this weakness WITHOUT limiting its power, reliability, and ease to work with and modify. Chrysler should take advantage of it. --Storage space. This is easily addressed with a Wilderness Roof Rack.

The 2002 Wrangler represents a world of improvement over older Wranglers. And to improve on a great American icon like the real Jeep is quite a task. Chrysler has done it. I have owned my Jeep for 6 months. I take it wheeling about 2-3 times a month. Simply unbeatable out there. Recommend the 4.0L straight six. Seems like most people on this board have had major problems with the 4-cyl. Also recommend the Dana 44 rear axle upgrade, limited slip, and 30" tire package. Don''t get the auto transmission. The manual is smooth, (especially compared to YJs) and VERY solid. The on-road ride is really unbelievable considering its off-road prowess. It is not a luxury ride, but it is not bone-jarring either. In fact, most people are truly surprised. Road noise is no where near as bad with the soft top as you might be led to believe by other posters. Although this might be due to improvements for this year.

Strength:

Time tested looks, I still enjoy just looking at it. Looks good going fishing and going to the theater. Versatilty. It goes everywhere I want to go.

Weakness:

Fuel economy, but the fun it provides makes it worth it. I like having a soft top, but the zipper windows are a pain in the @%& during winter and rain.

I have to say that I should''ve purchased a Jeep long ago. It is the most fun you can have driving. As of yet, I have had no problems with my Jeep. I keep a regular maintenance schedule on it. I have noticed no leaks or major discepancies. Some paint blemishes but after all its a Jeep and I can live with some of these items. I would say that driving a Jeep is equally exciting and fun as driving a Porsche.

Strength:

Engine - 4 LO and you''re ready to go up any mountain, hill whatever. Visability and Steering. The tires grip the road and with the manual trans. you really have control.

Weakness:

Shifting - very stiff and sometimes can be a real bear to get into gear. Cargo Space - None. Need to buy a rack.

I love my Jeep! It''s fun to drive and can go anywhere. But you can''t expect it to ride like a car. It''s a Jeep! I have almost 59,000 miles and the only problem I had was the water pump went out around 39,000. It''s the kind of of SUV that after almost 4 years of driving it you''re still glad you bought it. This SUV is not for everybody. It''s perfect for 1 or 2 people and stuff. If you never go off the road then look at getting something else. This SUV was made to play.

Model Reviewed: Wrangler YJ, 4 cly

Strength:

four wheel drives like a beast engine held up really well for almost 130,000 miles Loved the simplicity and no frills, I hate power windows and buzzing open doors.

Weakness:

Poor mileage (14-16mpg) Tiny fuel tank, I can only go about 160-180 miles on a tank. Those bucket seats suck on long drives

I''ve had the jeep for almost 9 years now. Definately get a hardtop, less noisy, less leaky (though mine still leaked, I had to silicon gel the thing to prevent mushroom growth on the caperting!) Fuel line once broke up under the fuel tank not a field repair, replaced fuel lines throughout. Made it to 130,000 miles on a rebuilt engine but now it is going downhill quick. Easy engine repairs for do-it your-selfers. 4 cly is very slow on hills and has no passing power. Poor mileage, especially with roof rack, but solidly built even with alot on the rack it can 4 wheel like a beast. Put alot of weight in back if you are using it in the snow or tends to slide around like crazy. Muffler eventually had to be welded to the body to actually hold up off roading, but no major engine problems, only had to replace brakes once in the life timeof the vehicle. Small, no frills, but a good first car.
