ITS A WRANGLER!!
Weakness:
poor gas mileage. hard top is a real pain in the @ss to get off. Soft top takes like 5 minutes to get up. This jeep kicks @$$. It the perfect vehicle for going offroad or to the beach. A wrangler will get you over the roughest terrain. The only big downside to the wrangler is the gas mileage (17 city 19 hiway). UpShifts: Awesome fun topless! Plenty of power and amazing offroad esp. with add-ons. Nice-looking. Good sound system. Fairly smooth on highway. Downshifts: Very bouncy (well it''s a Jeep). Sometimes shifting is annoying and difficult. Fuel consumption is pitiful. Some rusting in places. If you''re in the market for a fun car, the Wrangler (or TJ in Canada) is an awesome choice. In the end I couldn''t afford the gas no more but in the summer time it''s great topless and the 4x4 handles good in snow too. |

Great off-road/top-down vehicle. With the hardtop, I can also tolerate the road noise. The 3-inch lift kit I installed gives the Jeep the ability to fit oversized tires, withou loosing the bouncy feel of a true suspension kit.
Weakness:
This thing sure is thirsty, but what do you expect from am SUV. The soft-top could use some better design for ease in folding down, but its nothing that a amateur garage-head can''t handle. One must note, if you intend to enjoy listening to your tunes while driving, the optional sound bar and rear sub-woofer are MANDATORY! Well worth the price of admission, creature comforts aside. All in all, still the best 4x4 on the market for the money. I have added a ram air intake, JET Performance chip and Gibson muffler system to up the hp. All in all, I get about 265 hp, all for about $650 on top of the sticker price. A great off0road vehicle. |

Jeep Wrangler X
Strength:
FUN FUN FUN! Wow...powerful engine! Road height, surprisingly smooth ride(even for a 5 speed manual!), relatively not too bad wind noise for a box with canvas on all sides(well except the doors, I got the full doors with real windows) bright instrument panel, low fuel light with warning chime(scared me the first time I heard it) good leg room in the back for my kids and in the front for me(6''-1") FUN FUN FUN! The number of compliments I get on it with their voices tinged in envy.
Weakness:
fuel economy! It can NOT be a 19 gallon tank as claimed on the window sticker. Small space to stow the windows. Overall price! WOW $20k for a Jeep Wrangler that isn''t even fully loaded?....ouch What can I say? I missed my convertible so after 5 years of having my Isuzu Rodeo, I traded it in (sniff) on the Jeep Wrangler X. I am having a blast driving it even thought I heard some strange sucking noises when driving it and couldn''t figure out what it was until I looked at my gas gauge! The mpg so far has been about 18.9 combined highway and city. I have had it a day shy of 2 weeks and already have over 600 miles on it. There is no way you can tell me that the fuel tank is 19 gallons as the sticker on the window said. If it is 19 gallons, then the manual needs to be re-written because it states that when the low fuel warning light comes on you have about 2 gallons left in reserve. I pumped in 14.9 to fill it up so if you do the math, it only comes out to a 17 gallon fuel tank. (I may test my fuel tank size theory, although I know the sediment at the bottom of the tank may clog the injectors, by sitting at the pump when the warning light comes on and letting it run out of gas and THEN fill it up to see how big that tank actually is!LOL)The top, I am still trying to get it down and back up without catching one of my knuckles in the zippers, but I think as I go through a few more times, I will be able to do it like a pro. I just wished the back was bigger to be able to stow the windows without folding them, nothing like creased plastic. I am having fun driving it though and my kids are constantly asking for me to put the top down. The CD player plays pretty well, even going over some bad bumps, no skipping, but you do have to turn it up to hear it on the highway and then turn it down when you get off the highway so you don''t look like a fool. This is my first Jeep and I must say that I am impressed and even though I miss the roominess of my Rodeo, I think I made the right decision buying this Jeep(I have always wanted one...I can say I have now owned the vehicles I have always wanted to. First the Rodeo and now the Wrangler). Soon I will be going down to the Florida Keys topless....well, the Jeep, not me. Similar Products Used: 1997 Isuzu Rodeo |

Wrangler YJ
Strength:
Easy to manuever and park. Convertible in the summer. This thing will go anywhere. Very easy to work on. Lots of aftermarket parts available. Other Wrangler owners wave and are instantly your friends. Everyone digs this thing. Chicks even stare at a 39 year old until they see the child booster seat in the back. Sits high and gives the driver a great veiw of the road. I am hooked on Jeep for life.
Weakness:
Very noisy at high speeds and very bumpy. This is a Jeep, what else would you expect. Aftermarket Besttop is difficult to remove but worth the effort to be topless. Stock bucket seats cannot be adjusted to lean forward. Wow!!! I was looking for a vehicle to call my own since my wife hauls our kids in a mini van. I purchased this 4 cyl manual transmission from my wife''s cousin and I am in love again. I use it primarily as a commuter vehicle but I do hop over curbs with ease. The 4x4 is great in the Wisconsin winter and the shift on the fly makes it even better. The is not something everyone in my family can use and that is the best advantage because it is mine all mine! Beware, a Jeep is not for everyone. This is not a status SUV and it is not the most comfortable ride. Many posts are complaining about the 4 cyl but I have not had any problems. It is not very strong but I didn''t want a sports car. I have yet to truly off-road but I will find some trails this summer. Similar Products Used: Ford F-150 |

Off road abilities, My dealership is excellent, easy to clean, easy to modify, jeep style, climate control works quickly, ease of top operation (as far as manual tops go), and people in miatas look like their driving little tiny skateboards (pull up next to them at a stop light and they never look at you! They know they are on the bottom tier of the convertable pyramid!)
Weakness:
Never-ever buy the 4 cyl engine! However... The 4.0 6cyl guzzles fuel like Tanya Harding drinks Budweiser! But who cares! This is the most satisfying vehicle I have ever owned. I have to be honest I screwed up my transmission the first two weeks I had it, but that was my fault(don''t tell anybody!). The only other problem was with my fan selector switch. Both problems were repaired by the dealer in one afternoon with no hassles or questions asked. It''s noisy but it''s a big convertible box, what do you expect? Take care of it and it will take care of you. If you cant live without creature comforts, and you demand that your car interior sounds like a library, then go buy a Volvo station wagon. If you want to have fun just take the top down, grab the CDs, and take this baby on a road trip (or an occasional off road trip). You''re either down or you''re not, period. If you buy one do yourself a favor and don''t even consider the 4cyl. anyone will tell you. Similar Products Used: rx-7, nissan maxima, nissan sentra, 76 buick lesabre |

Strength:
Strong engine and transmission, power and torque, and near perfect build quality.
Weakness:
Transmission is noisy at high speeds, around 70-75mph This is my second Wrangler, my first being a 1991 Renegade, and the new Jeep is a much better version of the one it replaces. More horsepower and torque, better ride and options geared for the off road enthusiast( Dana 44 rear axle and 30 inch wheel pkg), the top seals better and is much quieter. I only wished I would have known about the Wrangler Rubicon coming out for the 2003 model year, I would have waited for this moidel. |

Top Leaks Poor customer service Cd player quit working about 15,000 miles ago The top leaks (hardtop) Rough ride Noisy Poor Gas Milage A/C fan broke - Dealership messed it up I can feel every crack, pebble, and bump in the road Overall, a total piece of crap. I would advise against anyone ever buying a Jeep. My Jeep is the biggest piece of crap I have ever laid my eyes on. There have been more problems with my Jeep, as well as, customer service than all the other vehicles I have owned. Similar Products Used: Chevys, Fords, Dodge |

When locked in I feel I could climb a tree. Lots of power in the 6 cyl. Easy to work on. Lots of after market goodies.
Weakness:
Lots of owners complain about the gas milege, My other vehicle is a 2001 Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 with a 5.4 liter. The jeep is my economy car. Saw this baby in a local dealers lot and pulled a u turn to look at it. $3900 in big numbers on the winshield, covering the spider web cracks on the passenger side. Took for a test drive and felt in love, It is dark blue with a spice interior and even had a new Bestop on it. The upper half of the drivers door is still stock for some reason so it is like closeing a square peg in a round hole. If anyone has a round corner upper half they want to sell drop a line. I live 1.7 miles off any paved roads and my road has been compared to a snake trail. We had a little snow and several days of rain since I got her and I love it. I pray for mud. She had 30 9.5x15 on when I got her and I replaced the worn out fronts but the back A/Ts were new. It is my commuter vehicle and I look for any reason to tool around it it. I have torn off the top twic and it is the best. Similar Products Used: Nothing like it. |
