Strength:

goes anwhere, pulls soccer-mom suvs out of ditches, girls love it, nothing better than driving with the top down on a warm virginia summer night, and hey, on what other vehicle can you take the doors off? (besides the ups truck)

Weakness:

4 cyl weak on the road loud, leaky, uncomfortable can't see out of stratched up windows gas mileage (but well worth dealing with all of that) getting a tj with an i-6 and full metal doors should solve most of those problems, except the gas mileage

awesome truck, even though mine's kinda messed up. 33s, stock gearing, and no 5th gear means about 55mph top speed at 3000rpm (65 if you push it). always wanted a wrangler, since i was about 5, and finally got it in august, when the summer was almost over. i've been looking foward to this summer, and now i find out that i'm getting assigned to a ship that will be going out to sea come summertime. so that sucks, but it's the price you pay for being in the navy. then i found out that this jeep is awsome even in the cold winter months! try offroading in december with the top and doors off and mud and water flying over the windshield and into your lap. even more fun than it sounds. on that trip, i drove through several puddles that spilled water over the door sills, and the jeep still kept going. today i took the doors off and used the jeep as an assault/getaway vehicle in a giant snowball fight. it's fun to drive around base with no doors when it's 20 degrees and see the looks on people's faces when they see you. it just snowed about 2 feet here the other day, the biggest snow maryland has seen in years, and i was out driving around in it and pulling people out of the snow. just pulled out a montero about half an hour ago. point is, jeeps are awesome. but get an i-6. the 4 sucks on the road, but it's still awesome offroad, especially in 4lo. i pulled a full-size pickup out of the snow today. it was an old-skool one too, back when they were made of steel. i'm going to sell this jeep when i go to sea, but i'll be saving up my money when i'm out there so i can make a nice down payment on a new(er) tj when i get back.

About a month ago i recieved a 1997 Jeep Wrangler for my 16th Birthday. Let me tell you I love my Jeep to death. My Jeep is just the base model with the 4 cylinder(not the greatest) and a hardtop, but since i am only 16 i dont really need speed. I have added a few parts including 30" BFG All Terrains( i wanted 33" and a 6" lift but mom said no lol), american racing rims and tailight guards. I plan to get new front and rear bumpers, some engine parts, subwoofers and KC lights with a light bar. Every time I walk away from the Jeep i cant help but stare at it. I have had to replace some parts as expected (radiator, fan clutch) but so far it has been pretty good. This is an excellent ride for a teenager, you will be envied. This ride would also b good for anyone who wants a fun, 3rd ride. It would not be good for an everyday ride for older people. If you want a kick as ride then get a jeep. My moto is dont just buy a jeep modify the crap out of it lol.

Strength:

Engine (I guess)...never had a problem. Looks.

Weakness:

All around poor craftsmanship. Great vehicle if you like to get to know the guys at the dealership.

Always wanted a Wrangler but always drove Japanese. Hated the Wrangler. I never took it off-road. I had it back in the shop about once every 4-6 mos for the first 2 yrs. Unbalanced drive shaft, peeling hinges (3X), bad pinion gear, leaky transfer case, a rattling muffler that took 6 weeks to order, frozen calipers, et. al. This not only turned me off to Jeep but American vehicles as well. Everything was under warranty but it's the quality that counts. I called Chrysler customer service to extend the warranty and stand behind the car. They wanted nothing to do with me. The manuf. rep. called me on a Sat. at work (no, I was not there) & did not leave a number. Sorry, but I am back to Japanese.

Strength:

4.0 in-line 6 engine. Style. 4x4. classic vehicle

Weakness:

My only complaint is the lack of room in the back seat. It is only good for small children. Just be sure to get the 6 cylinder engine and full metal doors with roll up windows.

Absolute teriffic vehicle. This is the second Wrangler that I have owned. First on was a 95' base model. This one, I bought the "X" model with a few extra features: cruise, air, automatic transmission, tinted rear windows. A definate must is the full metal doors. This cuts down on a lot of noise. I LOVE THIS JEEP! Aside from the looks you get driving down the street, it is a very capable vehicle. 4x4 is excellent, even works well driving on icy roads. Automatic transmission performs well, although I have read many reviews that advise to stay away from this. This is my primary vehicle and it is far from a luxury SUV but, "It's a Jeep thing." Gotta love it.

Strength:

-very versitile -torquey motor that moves out -capable tow vehicle -fun vehicle with curb appeal -styling that will never be outdated

Weakness:

-gas milage(still like pushing a sheet of plywood in the wind) -heavy hard top(takes two to remove / install) -people like to steel your doors and whatever else is left unattended

I bought my sahara new in 2000. I had wanted a jeep for a very long time and finaly caught the "It's a Jeep Thing" bug. I have been very happy with this vehicle. I do not use it for my primary vehicle though. I have found that having a small economy car has more than paid for it self in gas savings. I average 16 miles per gallon with my jeep and my 87 civic gets me around 40. I still love my jeep though because it has been the most fun vehicle that I have owned. This vehicle draws a lot of attention and is a blast to drive. I have had no problems with my jeep and overall my experience is really good. The new coil suspension is much better than the older jeeps but it is still tiring to drive over long distances. Overall I would definitly recomend a jeep.

Strength:

I can work on this vehicle. It is classy and you laugh at bad weather.

Weakness:

Bad gas mileage and very limited storage space.

After looking at Jeeps forever I finally found the one I wanted at the price I thought was reasonable. It rides relatively smooth and wind noise with the Hard top is not bad at all. I had considered a Ford Sport Trac thinking it was more practical. Thank the Lord I went with the Jeep. It is pure fun and sets you a part from all the other cookie cutter vehicles out there.

Strength:

I love the power this guy has. Driving along the interstate on the flat, I'm impressed by the pick up and git up and go it has in either 4th or 5th. 70+ is no sweat. Of course I like the interior of the Sahara. Though my Golden Retriever owns the back seat, the upholstered seating and carpeting is nice...for a driver. And I live for "Top Down" days. So does my dog. Off roading has never been a problem. Ran into tire ruts filled with mud a few times and have not been stuck yet. (Knock on wood!) Have also run into flooded roads and had no problems though the water was over the running boards. The sound bar makes the music hearable even on the I'state with the top down and driving through sand at the Outer Banks or snow here in town has never phased the jeep. And speaking of snow, I like the way it warms up quickly. Even when it gets down to 20 degrees, it'll be comfortable inside within a few minutes at 55mph. In all, I'm glad I have it, and when this one does give up the ghost, I'll get another.

Weakness:

The noise. Yeah, it's not an insulated soft top so I do suffer from the noise factor. I had a small hole cut in the top and of course every drop of rain found its way to it. Solution: A bicycle tire patch. Fixed! And of course the gas mileage...though I've gotten nearly 20mpg on long trips the daily grind cuts it down to about 16. The lack of storage space is very noticeable (car before this was a Taurus) and I've found that I can pack more with the rear seat up than with it down! And finally, I mentioned that 1000 mile test drive. Driving through notoriously hilly W. Virginia I discovered that the right lane was the best place to be. Speed would drop from 70+ to 55-60 max. on the long runs uphill.

First off, let me say that I'm no mechanic. I'm a driver. Secondly, owning a Jeep (Wrangler) had been a dream of mine for nearly 40 years before I finally was in a situation where owning one was practical. So, at the age of 50, I finally got one and I use it everyday. All that being said, let's move on. I bought this Jeep from a guy who loved them as much as I wanted one. I probably paid too much for it because it had 78K on it when I got it. The first time I saw was at my regular gas station so I had the mechanics check it out before I even test drove it. It got an A+ from them. (BTW, its a 5-speed, 6, 4.0) The mechanic who checked it out said that if I didn't buy it, he would. Good enough for me. I took it for a test drive and of course I loved it (that kid in me who's wanted a jeep for so long came out). First thing I did was take on a 1,000 mile REAL test drive. Interstates, stop and go, off road, and through a pretty deep creek. I've been driving it now for 2.5 years and have put 32K on it through all kinds of road conditions. Been changing the oil and lubing every 3,000 and have never had a mechanical problem. The engine is running as well as it did the day I got it. I'm told that Jeep engines are just breaking in at 100K. If that's the case, I figure I'm good for another 100K.

Improved suspension. Improver quieter soft top. Maneuverability. Convertible. FUN!

Weakness:

Fuel economy.

I previously had a '95 Wrangler 4 cyl, 5 speed for 5 years and upgraded to the '02 X model with automatic and 6 cylinder. I was very pleased with the upgrade in power, the improved suspension, and the improved quieter soft top. Being a Jeep lover to start with, this is like heaven. I have had it off road and it is more than adequate to tame most off road trails. I am a family man and this is a great vehicle to take the top down and take the family out on a Sunday drive. The kids love it too!

Strength:

1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear- Great Pep for a 4 banger. Being able to look forward to snow. Top down at the lake. Ride is very tolerable (my dad owned a CJ). Accessories. Owning a legend.

Weakness:

Cargo Space. Gas mileage, of course.

I was very concerned at first about the SE model. I have heard all of the complaints about lack of power. The only lack of power I have noticed is on the interstate, however this is tolerable, because a Jeep has always been my dream car. So, spending a little more time in it is definately not a problem. There is no lack of power offraod or in any weather condition (just passed by a Lexus SUV stuck in the snow the other day.) Anyways, I bought my jeep with a post-factory sound bar, cd player, a/c, tires, wheels, and a step-bar. All in all, the Jeep has everything I need. It hasn't given me any problems at all, knock on wood, if you take care of these vehicles they will return the favor.
