Strength:

Comfortable, easy to drive, fairly nimble for an SUV. Engine (I6) well matched with vehicle. Great turning radius. Good cup holders (4 total!) Tons of extras available to customize your Liberty.

Weakness:

Little weak on cargo space. Mopar & other accessories are wicked expensive (search the web hard for good prices).

Very pleased with this vehicle. Bought an 02 when they first came out, traded it in with 31,000 miles last week for a new 03 (and great financing rates!). Very good value for your money. Comfortable, easy to drive, no problems with maintenance or engine yet. Stock model very off-road capable (proven though experience :-). Nice looking exterior still draws attention. Interior looks good, I actually like the center mounted window controls. O3 Sport interior has no fabric on doors, looks much nicer and easier to clean.

Strength:

V6 engine - reminds me of my old 66 Chevelle Super Sport with its throaty V8 and instant go power when you jabbed the throttle Patriot Blue Color - absolutely the best color ever invented for a New England Patriots Fan :) Solidity - This SUV feels like it was carved out from a block of 2 ton billet steel found in Toledo, OH

Weakness:

Some people complain about fuel economy, but so far I am averaging about 20-22 mpg...if driven smoothly and gently you will see big improvement in fuel economy. Launch the thing off the line, and yeah - you will hear the distinctive slurping sound of copious amounts of fuel going through the injectors at $1.55 a gallon. Besides, driving slower you'll be able to turn that many more heads with your Liberty :)

Couldnt be happier - coming from a problem plauged Ford Focus (9 recall notices over a 3yr period) to this SUV is like night and day. I now actually have something thats solid, reliable, functional, and very well built. My cousin has a Liberty, and my uncle purchased one about two weeks before I did. So now I'm the 3rd in the family to get one after having ridden/driven in theirs :)

Ford Escape wasnt even a consideration considering problems with Focus. Nissan Xterra is smooth and "polite"...I didnt want my SUV to be "polite". I wanted the playground bully that steals the lun

Strength:

Totally off road capable even with IFS. As long as you and not into extreme off roading, you will be very pleased.

Weakness:

Lack of transfer case skid plate. Jeep really should have put 4.10 gears in and fitted 265/75 16's ... Maybe we will see a Rubicon version ... Are you listening DC??? The leather seats need a bit longer seat cushion.

My Liberty is loaded, I think the only option we did not get was the GPS. Right now the truck has 33,500 miles on it. I change the oil and filter myself ever 3000 miles. We do ICS chili cookoffs and travel lots. My kids live in CO and my parents live in ME. We have had the Liberty off in the boonies and on 75-80 mph highways. I have never been disappointed. The power from the 3.7 is good, not great but well matched to the car. At the time we bought it, the only tranny available was the automatic. I actually like it, as it really works well. We just bought a wilderness rack from Rocky Road Outfitters (Garvin wildernes rack) so we can expand the cargo capacity. I can't wait to get it here and installed. Next purchase will be some rock rails (also from Rocky Road Outfiters) to protect the rocker panels from errant boulders! If you want a stout performer with a unique look, lots of character and an amazing amount of grunt, comfort and relability buy a liberty today!

Model Reviewed: Renegade

Strength:

I did alot of reaserch before buying. Very safe, looks great, rides well, and it's a JEEP! I am very demanding and wanted the best value for an SUV. Overall, one rough and tough yet nimble vehicle. I have the five speed version of the Renegade and love it. Shifts very well, quiet, and solid as a rock. I love the growl of the engine. This SUV will plow through snow, ice and I've yet to be stuck on any terrain as of date (but am trying hard). Small platform helps stearing and engine is strong and responsive. I had no problems during our past snowy winter to include the ice. Fold down seats are great! Tinted windows are wonderful as well. Heater and AC are very strong. I also like the rear electrical outlet. For the price that I paid, I got a lot of bang for the buck! A beefed up Ltd would have ran well over 25K. As one can see, I am very happy! I will keep this vehicle for a long while! Great engineering job!Great service from the dealership in Manassas Va.

Weakness:

Minor: Brakes have a minor squeal when wet but will adjust at frist service. Window controls in console...bad idea. Cargo net is the size of a paper bag! Sound system is only average, no front electrical outlet (you have to pay for it). MAJOR ISSUE: Other area dealerships are very weak when it comes to business and HR. Were these folks (Leesberg /Fairfax and Maryland) sleeping during training? Jeep should enforce a proper standard to all dealerships. Jerry's is GREAT!Cannot say enough good things about those folks.

Love It! Mid size and just the right size for me. Sporty with a great feel to it. Traded in m Wrangler which I really enjoyed but it was too small for camping and drank too much gas for long day trips. This vehicle is great for "on the go singles" or the small family. The Renegade option was the best for my style but I also drove the Sport/LTD which was good but did not have the aggressive feel to it. They felt to "city" for me.

Similar Products Used:

RAV 4. Too expensive, only a 4 cyl. Yuck is all I will say! Not an off road vehicle. Drove the Xterra...too much body lean, too standard. Felt like a metal crate.

Strength:

Liberty is, in my opinion, the most attractive small SUV around. The pickup is great on the V6. The price is reasonable compared to other small SUV's.

Weakness:

I don't like the window controls on the center console. It's taken quite some getting used to, and if Jeep changes that I think they're doing the right thing. My mileage is what the sticker said, but I'll have the dealer check that at service time.

I love my Liberty. It looks great, rides great, and is quite stylish.

It looks cool!

Weakness:

I've got a total LEMON, really think long and hard about this purchase.

Overall this vehicle is the biggest piece of crap on 4 wheels. I've had my engine replaced, stalled out on the freeway, blown a head gasket which resulted in warped heads. All this and I'm at less than 16K miles. I've retained a lawyer, and I'm going after DC to repurchase my liberty. Email me for more info (jenniferowens92@hotmail.com)

Strength:

Looks, interior space (except foot space in the front), rear door system, ground clearence, ABS as standard, good ratings in crash tests.

Weakness:

Appalling aftersales and customer support, leaking floor pan, left side mirror motor has mind of its own, windscreen seems to attract a lot of stones, Diesel engine is a bit raw.

Great looking SUV, very practical and the 2.5 CRD picks up quite good (when warm) and is also quite economical. The only real problem I encountered is a leak in my floor pan, I got stuck in about 40 cm of water and my interior flooded in minutes. The local dealer where I bought my Liberty was not only useless, he was also very rude and didn't want to look at the car. After Jeep UK got involved, they apologised and gave me a free Service to make things good again and they promised to find the leak. They did not find the leak, the free service was an oil change with an attitude and my car was a mess when I picked it up 2 days later. Now 6 months later, the leak is still there and I'm still waiting for Jeep UK to solve the problem. It is a shame, I like my Liberty a lot but I'm totaly let down by the lack of customer support.
