Weakness:
The headlight switch is a little tough...sometimes I think I turned off the lights but they are still on...have to turn them on/off a second time but that could be a user problem - haven't read the book. Brakes - my Explorers would stop on a dime..the Liberty feels a little less responsive. Side air bags - It has none. Bought this SUV used with 13k miles. After driving a 1993 Explorer and a 1998 Explorer I must say that I truly love driving this Jeep! I thought I would never drive anything but the Explorers but the last one had quite a few problems and I wanted to give something else a try. Although the room in the back is much smaller, the Jeep makes up for it in head room and your really don't feel like you are in a smaller SUV. I love the way it drives and looks (inside and out). The dash board is so nice and the window controls in the center are much safer than on the door if you have small children in the back. I think the leather seats are very comfortable and the remote tailgate is great when you have groceries. Plus, the Liberty sits so tall that I can always find my car in a parking lot easy. Stereo sounds great. No blind spots. It's a zippy SUV with so much character. Love it - Love it - Love it! Similar Products Used: 1993 Ford Explorer 1998 Ford Explorer |

Just a all around fun suv to drive.

Very small glovebox. So far I must admit I LOVE this Jeep!! I don't think I would take it crosscountry I find the seats a little uncomfortable but hey, its a Jeep are they really known for realiabilty and comfort? I do have a groan from the brakes after it sits for a few hours, but it goes away quickly enough. I have only had this Jeep for 4 months so far so good. horrible in the rain noisy above 65 mph brakes pull to right side looks like a boot gas mileage is lousy speakers make scratching noise I use this car when my mom doesn't, at first i liked it but, then after a few months of driving, the car would pull to the right. It never seemed like it wanted to stay on the road. The transmission makes a horrible grinding noise when i put into drive and the brakes are pathetic. I really don't see why anyone would buy one of these, I'm sticking with my 1979 cherokee. Similar Products Used: '79 cherokee '84 cj |

I just love the car in general
Weakness:
My only problem is the spark plugs well spark plug #1 now ask me about the company and I'd say don't be tempted to buy from them because if you have a problem it will be just that-your problem. I love my jeep very, very much but 5 months after having it, It started studdering and backfiring so took it to the dealer and they said it was #1 spark plug ok they fixed it and everything was great for 9 months when the same problem arose. I was told again it was #1 spark plug, problem once again fixed. 4 months later wouldn't you know it #1 spark plug out again so fixed again and i was on my way although this time i was told if it happens again they will go in and look deeper to find the reason for this, Well here it is november 5 months later and guess where my beautiful jeep liberty is at this very moment? the dealer and what was the problem found? #1 spark plug. I asked them if they were going to follow through with thier promise of looking deeper to find the real problem and was told that is the only problem found. I was furious all day so I started looking at the lemon laws and called a lawyer (he did not at all sound interested) I called daimlerchrysler and asked for a extended warranty (I failed to get 1) She of course said only if we paid for it now mind you we are at 31,??? miles and the warranty will be running out soon, This problem was first fixed at 9,136 miles. I asked her if once our warranty ran out if the problem persisted if they were going to fix it since it has been going on so long and sje said if it occurs again let us know and we will look into it but we are not obligated to fix it-What kind of s@it is that? I will be on thier butts and I will have a lawyer and get rid of this lemon!!! I was only asking for an extended warranty for this problem but since I got such a hassle I think I will get the purchase price back minus the 9,136 miles that were on it when the problem started. I will not be left standing with this broken down 2002 vehicle!! I will fight like never before! I have a 1991 toyota paseo that besides the normal wear and tear has NEVER let me down. If anyone has had similsr problems with the spark plugs please e-mail me and let me know what you did or are doing. l0wd0wn432@aol.com the o's in l0wd0wn are zero's. |

Weakness:
Gas mileage Bad in the rain Lousy brakes Poor dealership sales and service experiences I wrote a glowing review on another site right after I purchased the car. Now, 2-1/2 years later I have a much different opinion. It all started with a vibration at 50 mph. The car went in three times and finally they replaced the rear differential and shocks. Problem finally solved, but only after I filed "Lemon Law" papers with the Attorney Generals office. Then, one day, I parked the car and when I started it up a horrendous noise was comming from the hood. The serpentine belt shredded. Tow to the dealer, and replace the belt. During the big snows last winter I had the pleasure of being pulled out of the snow three times by my neighbor's 12 year old Isuzu Trooper. I never had the chance to return the favor, as he never got stuck. Then at about 18000 miles came the first brake job. Now at 34000 comes the second. Now I will admit to being a hard driver, but my Ford BroncoII, Dodge Caravan, Honda Accord and Civic and my old Dodge Dart never went through brakes like that. I know i'm hard, but with all the advancements Jeep claims to have made on their braking system, I don't think I should expect this. Problem is, I basically like the car. It's roomy and drives nice, except in the rain. It is scary to drive the Libety in the rain, even in 4-wheel drive. It feels like it always wants to leave the road. Now I also just found out that when I purchased the car the deal was misrepresented. I signed up for the "Gold Whatever" program and the following was told to me. I had three choices at the end of three years. Turn the car in and walk away, continue payments for two more years and purchase the car outright, or the car would have a guaranteed $12,000 residual value that I could use as trade in for a new car. After talking to the dealer this week, I found out that only the first choice was true. Yes I could continue payments, but the payment would go up significantly. And as far as the residual value, yes I am guaranteed the $12K, but it gets counteracted by the amount owed on the vehicle, so it equals $0. Hence option 3 is the same as option 1. I feel used and abused. The deal was misrepresented and now I'm stuck. All I can say is that the next car salesman I run into will have a tough nut to crack. So that's it in a nutshell. I now officially hate my Liberty. Similar Products Used: Bronco II |

Poor Gas Mileage... But it is an SUV. Small gloove box for an SUV I have owned my Liberty for 7 months. It has been in the Shop 8 times. Twice of the transmission 3 Times for the Sunroof Leaking and 3 times for this really annoying Brake problem. When cold and the brakes are lightly applied it causes this groaning noise to occur. Having been told it was a service notice by my local dealer I took it in for the brakes to be adjusted. This solved nothing; well actually I think they adjusted the volume as the sound got louder. So the Jeep went back in for another try. This time I was told that the brake pads or something had been changed. Great I thought but alas the noise was still there. Attempt number three I was told that the emergency brake was binding and needed adjusting. Nope apparently not that either. The noise is still there as driving me nuts each morning and sometimes in the afternoon. Has anyone else had this problem and has it been solved. Please don’t get me wrong I do like my Liberty but to the best of my knowledge braking systems have been around for a year or two and these problems should have not made it past initial production checks. I am seeing a Chrysler Rep. soon and will hopefully have good news. Similar Products Used: Jeep Wrangler I Thought this Jeep was cool and fun to drive. So I thought I'd try Jeep again. Let see how Daimler Chrysler handles my problems to find out if I will be a return customer for the third time. |

like interior of vehile. does good in snow.
Weakness:
vehile pulls to left and pulls to right. gas mileage is 15.6 in city and highway. glovebox is extremely small. At first I loved my Jeep Liberty Limited. It was very quite and smooth driving, much different than my 1996 Jeep Cherokee that I had before. However, after 5 months of having the vehicle it started pulling to the right. I took it to the dealer and they did an alignment and rotated the tires front to back, because they said it was probably the tires. Come on now, the tires were only 5 MONTHS old. I continued to have problems so I started to deal with Goodyear directly. They replaced the tires 3 times within two weeks because it would either pull to the right or to the left. I finally took it back to a Chrysler dealer who balanced the new tires correctly. It did great for about 4 MONTHS, until I started having a vibration during high and low speads. I took it back to dealer who said that the belts in both front tires were pulled. OK now, these are the 3rd set of tires that I had put on the vehicle in less than a year, and now they are bad too! I took it back to a Goodyear dealer, which is also owned by the Chrysler dealer, and told them that I wanted BF Goodrich tires put on the vehicle, which they did. They also did another alignment job. Now this is the 3rd alignment in a year, which was of no fault of mine at all! I continued to have problems with it pulling to the left, and a vibration even after the new tires. The very next week I took it back to Chrysler again. They advised the tires were not balanced properly and they did another alignment. Now this is the 2 alignment in 1 week. At this point I continue to have the vehile pull to the right about 40% of the time, and pull to the left about 50% of the time. That leaves about 10% of the time that it wants to stay on the road. Chrysler said the vibration is due to the BF Goodrich tires that I just had put on. They say BF Goodrich tires ride rough! However, according to reviews I have read, this is not the case. The Chrysler dealer is now saying they do not know what the problem is and they can't fix it. I have done some looking on the Internet and find I am not alone with these issues. I have filled out the paperwork for the "Lemon Law Act" and have submitted it to Chrysler. I would suggest that anyone else who is having these problems do the same. I think it is time for a class action lawsuite if they don't get their act together and figure out what the heck is going on here!! Rides smooth, turns great, folding rear seats are easy to pull down, nice pull when your press the gas, just right for a mid suv
Weakness:
seats arent as comfortable as my Jeep Sport, small glove compartment, no ash tray(to keep change in)and floor console also small to store things in. Had a jeep sport(last year made) and loved it. But I travel 45 minutes to work everyday and the milelage was near 45,000, which was my limit. DC has a new program where you can return your lease early and they eat up to five payments(which is what I had left). Got the liberty sport w/ the wheel package. I dont like the all black wheels. Its smaller inside than my sport, including the cargo area, but it rides alot smoother and handles great. I have'nt heard any noises when I reach 70mph like others said they do. Also gas milelage is about where the sticker says it is. The dealer said to save gas try to keep the tach under 2. Similar Products Used: Jeep Sport, |

Gas mileage, automatic locking doors (would like to 4-wheel over the idiot that forced this feature on us.) Pleasantly surprised. First venture into leasing so thought I would give this appealing vehicle a try. Love car, hate lease. Must admit I do not have the long term confidence in Chrysler product to buy one, but thought a 2 year tryout worth the effort. Extremely fun to drive. Wife and teenage daughter love it as well, appeals and satisfies all of us. Don't mind the center consol window controls that others complain about, in fact, rather like it. Handles great, love turning radius. Overall, very pleased however, other car is a Lexus and formally owned an Accord, so my expectations are raised to a higher level. Past horror stories with Chryslaer keep me from committing to actually buying this vehicle. If I could be convinced to trust its long term reliability, I would love to continue having fun beyond the lease termination. |

Gas MPG not that great, It's not a four door Wrangler.... This is the car that I bought for my wife. I have a 97 Wrangler soft top. I love the wrangler and my wife kept saying that she wanted a jeep too. Rumores started flying about a 4 door hard top Wrangler going into production. I said to my wife when it comes out we are getting one. That will be your Jeep. I waited for the introduction of the new 4 door Wrangler and....What's this... Hey thats kind of well... diferant ..OK ..Cool.. Liberty huh.....It's so cute said the wife.. I didn't know if I want a cute Jeep I said ...Please..... I love it. I love.... She said. The first dealership we went to see one. On a lark, out of our home town mind you and we drove it home. I drove the liberty and WOW. Going from the Wrangler to the Liberty is like going from... well like a Jeep to a smooth, quiet, sporty euro sport sedan. Ride and drive is great. Ya know there is this rumor abot a jeep truck coming out with a truck based on the Wrangler...Hmmmm... Honey...I been thinking...A truck would realy come in handy for hauling stuff...I'd keep the Wrangler and the Liberty of course.
