History of mechanical failure Gasoline mileage OEM tires I bought this Jeep and so far I haven't had any problems with the Jeep. I had the Jeep inspected by a very reputable and well trusted mechanic before I purchased it. I do notice that I have to keep the alignment in check, but a lot of this may be due to the difficult terrain called Washington DC's potholed streets. I do plan on upgrading my brake rotors to drilled and slotted Brembos to cut down on warpage, along with Hawk brake pads for low dust. I do have an extensive extended warranty which covers a lot of parts, which I hope to never use, but from what I hear, I just added their number to my speed dial in my cellphone. I'll report back after a year or my first major repair, hopefully, it'll be in a year! Similar Products Used: 1992 Nissan Pathfinder 2002 BMW X5 4.4i |

haven't found any yet Having leased (against my better judgement) a Cherokee for 3 years (just turned in 1 week ago), and had excellent luck, and enjoyed the ride an comfort, and the lease was up, I just purchased a Cherokee Special Edition (leather, 2WD, I-6) and hope this will serve just as well. It has been agreat vehicle, ride, room, power, and problem free. I also have a '92 Wrangler, owned since '93, with 110K miles, also problem free. I take are of of all my vehicles, maintain, and drive without abusing them, ever. Very happy so far Similar Products Used: Blazer |

Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo
Strength:
Great 4X4 easy to engage and disengage. Strong body. Comfortable ride. Decent gas mileage. Good power. Very stable vehicle. Handles the road as good as any car I have ever driven and I've driven many. Handles great on the mountainous, windy roads where I live.
Weakness:
No leg room. body is too narrow for family of 5. I was very skeptical at first. My jeep has no options other than the standard package. No problem with the radio, I have cloth seats so I don't worry about a cold tushy, (leather in cold areas is a ridiculous and wasteful buy). My jeep has never been to the shop other than normal maintanance. I have 72k on it and all I have needed is tires and a battery and a couple of wires...again all normal maintanance. I hope my next jeep is just as reliable and strong. Jeep should be made a bit bigger, wider and a third seat would be great for those of us with kids. That's all I would change. And I hope Jeep NEVER uses a dial or button to engage 4WD. Don't mess with a good thing! Strong 4.7 Liter 265 HP Engine Great Seats Navigation is user friendly Full size spare Due to the weather in the Northeast, I felt it was time to move from the "car world" to the "SUV world." I researched quite a few SUV's that peaked my interest. They include the Lincoln Aviator, Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, BMW X5, and the Lexus RX 330. Overall, I felt tht Jeep provided the most "bang for the buck." After reading this board, I have become a little concerned with what to expect after my purchase. This is my first American automobile I have ever purchased and I hope that this truck performs unlike most of the purchasers trucks on this board. So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed driving this truck around. The power is strong, the interior is what to expect from a foreign competitor, and the exterior, although alomst outdated, looks great. As mentioned before, I literally purchased this vehicle 2.5 weeks ago and only have 750 miles on it. I expect some things to go wrong but hopefully not to the extent as some other purchasers. Strength:
Good acceleration (6 cyl.) I actually can sit straight. Relatively good gas milage (it is an SUV after all) Good road noise Competitive price
Weakness:
Really bad stereo (specifically the radio, the CD seems okay) Has been in the garage 4 times in it's 1 month life. Repairs focus on swapping out parts, not fixing the problem. It's the little things that piss you off about Chrysler. I thought I was buying a higher end vehicle (one of the sales people at another dealer referred to this as a status symbol?). Apparently $40K doesn't buy a decent stereo. Similar Products Used: Jeep Cherokee (92) Jeep TJ (98) Dodge Pickup (85) |

The 4.0 is a dogg. Where to start..At 50,000 I had to replace the fuel filter (located in the tank)so replaced the whole pump.I have since learned that Chrysler is tracking this part and you can only purchase at the dealership. This knocking will not go away,it sounds to me like a bearing in the bottom of the engine but again I am a dumb blonde! Now at 57,000 my driver side heated seat does not work. I am now in for approx. more than what it is worth to have a warm hiney. The paint well...don't even touch the jeep or you'll need to paint it.
