Strength:
-coil springs on each corner
Weakness:
-fuel economy I bought it used with 60,000 miles on it and have not had any major problems with it. It's now at 120,000 and it's been a great reliable vehicle and should be considered by people that want to build an off-road machine. I am mostly impresed with the steering control and handling. I have test driven many SUVs and they all had slugish steering. I also like the manual transfer case shifter that will not stay stuck in 4WD like push buttons on many SUVs. I've witnessed people having problems with their transfer cases being stuck on 4wd, and most of them fixed the problem by disconnecting their battery for a couple of minutes to reset the system. None I have taken this Jeep Grand Cherokee places soccer moms never would, and done things most people never will. And it has preformed excellent with comfort and style. Everything worked as it was designed to, hey its a Jeep. The interior is much cleaner, stylish than the competition. It doesnt have wimpy IFS. The ZJ/WJ has great power. Whats not to like. where do I start? Its a great size truck, not to big or small. It is well-powered. The four wheel drive system is superior to its competitors. It will take you anywhere(literally) that you want or need to go. I love this truck. I have a lot of mods on it and more coming a ll the time...the more you build these things, the better they get. I would recommend one to anybody, from any walk of life! Is it possible to give them more than 5 stars??? oh yeah...did I mention its AMERICAN?!?!?!
Weakness:
as if there is one....LOL! I drive it to school(where it sits in the parking lot for most of t eh year), to work and off road. Thats about it. It has performed flawlessly in the time I have had it. It is very "moddable" and has responded positively to everything I have put on it. Basically, there is no weakness that I am aware of. I have heard these things tend to run hot, but that is not a problem for me yet. It might be once the ARB and winch go on, but the custom hood vents should take care of that! Check out www.jeepsunlimited.com if you want to learn more about these great trucks...GO JU! Poor brake rotors My wife had just finished puttin 120,000 miles on a Bronco II and it came time to look for something newer. Ford Explorer was too harsh and underpowered, Toyota was too small inside and underpowered as well as the most expensive SUV and a Mitsubishi Montero felt more like a bulky station wagon...slow and very plastic feeling inside. Strength:
Aftermarket parts readily available to make it an even more offroad-capable vehicle.
Weakness:
None An excellent 4WD Vehicle. For me nothing comes close. None of those pretending-to-be 4WD vehicles can even go where my WJ can go (ok, maybe a Hummer can). This is my first Jeep and am hooked. I certainly will be a Jeep driver for a long time. Well, even my wife loves it. New England winters can be really harsh and my WJ has survived that with flying colors. Similar Products Used: None |

Aluminum rear axle housing, transmission One incredible vehicle for the money. Easy to upgrade for off-road use, and can be made into one of the most capable vehicles on the planet. Similar Products Used: Blazer, Explorer, Durango...the Jeep beats them all in doing what it is meant to do, tow, off-road, and haul cargo and passengers. |

Looks, Power, Handling, doesn't rattle, cheap to maintain compared with most other SUV's. Doesn't roll over unexpectedly.
Weakness:
A little thirsty, brakes an annoyance - but no worse than Ford. Some 5 star dealers are a joke. The Grand is still the best SUV on the market. I rides better, handles better and looks better than anything else out there. The Jeep feels very stable at all speeds - never a concern with high speed driving. It is a relaxing vehicle to drive fast. Definately not a white knuckle ride (unlike the Explorer or the GMC's).I have not had one problem in 30,000 of hard driving. Maintain it properly and it will not let you down. Much more refined than my 97 (in which I did 89,000 with no problems). This is a very safe on and off road cruiser. Power and lots of it. This Jeep will roast many other vehicles out there. Very comfortable, even on long trips compared to many other SUVs. Built well as well. Its a good street vehicle because its not as big as other SUVs. I wouldn't buy another SUV....period.
Weakness:
The gas milage from the factory is low...but for an SUV, it isnt lower than many. This can be resolved with just a few modifications. I now get 15/21 mpg instead of the 13/16 it came with after just a few things done to it. Also, the differentials can be a problem. These must be maintained with the regular service. But, Jeep fixed them on the 1999 and up models, so its not really an issue anymore. Can't be beat on the road...or off for the matter. This is a good SUV anyone. If you want a vehicle that can do it all, this is it. Similar Products Used: I've driven many other SUVs, and am always let down at their quality and performance. I would never go to another SUV. |
