Strength:

Off-Road Ability, who says you have to sacrifice comfort in a "go-anywhere" vehicle?
Comfortable seats
EXTREMELY good V8 engine with significant power throughout the entire range of RPMs

Weakness:

weak rear axle

I rate this vehicle because it has been reliable, cheap to fix, cheap to insure, gets good gas mileage for a V8. I have REPEATEDLY beat it off-road and it has taken all of my punishment and then some!

It is a vehicle you can "take to the opera" or take and get it dirty!

I recommend this vehicle to anyone to buy. Young or Old. It is comforatble and quiet. Surefootedness should appeal to all genders of varying ages.

Strength:

Good on-road ride compared to other SUVs. Though mine is the oldest model year of the Grand Cherokee, it still rides better than many current SUVs. Also, the 4wd system is unbeatable.

Weakness:

None to speak of.

I think the Grand Cherokee is about the only capable family size SUV out there. Others such as the Range Rover cost twice as much.

1996 Chevrolet Tahoe - much more problematic. Dozens of unscheduled trips to the dealer since brand new. Will never have another GM product.

This is the best vehicle I have ever had. Even though there were some quality issues, they were all dealt with immediately, and I love my vehicle more than I did on the day I bought it. It is the most fun SUV on road, and the most capable offroad. Nothing compares.

Strength:

Torquey, V8 has good low down punch. 4WD system is best in industry, mud, snow, hills does not stop it. Great for outdoor activities. Easy to modify for enhanced off-road

Weakness:

Spare tire fills up cargo bay

Second Jeep that I've had. Both get decent gas milage if driven correctly Fwy avgs 21mpg w/V8. Great for fishing, hill climbing for astronomy. Daily driving is excellent. It's a 4wd, not a luxury car!

Buy it for when you really want to go off-road and need something that won't get compromised miles into back country. Jeep has an excellent towing capacity and the options really make it nice to have as a daily driver also.

If all you want is cargo space and 4 doors and AWD, look at a station wagon, ie, Outback. You'll get better milage and roadability

Ford Explorer - could not touch the Jeep in backwoods hill climbing or through the mud.

5.2L V8 is a great engine with swift accelerating and smooth transition between gears. It is great all-around. It is great off-road, and it handles very well on road as well.

Weakness:

GAS MILEAGE

This has been a great car. I really love driving it. There have been some repairs needed, but overall I really enjoy it and wouldn't trade it for anything.

Strength:

This vehicle is fir fro every condition. Snow, rain, off-road, etc. Not to mention it offers a great smooth ride, fast accelartion and super handling ofr an SUV!

Weakness:

Gas Mileage

THis is by far the best SUV/truck I have ever owned, and I feel is definitely the best SUV in the market. Why wouldn't you go with the only company that specializes in 4x4 vehicles if you arew going to get an SUV. They have the most advanced 4 wheel drive systems, and are the toughest of the bunch.

I have driven almost all other SUV's, and none of them coem close. They all are liek driving mini vans. I especially ddeel that Explorers are the worst!

Posh, dependable, very comfortable on long road trips. Great off-road, even stock. Looks elegant, yet without being sissy. Never at a loss for power, even with the I6 4.0L.

Weakness:

Not enough after-market mods available yet, but growing everyday.

The best vehicle i've ever owned. I had a '93 model that i loved dearly, too, but when i drove out of the dealership with this over a year ago, i was instantly in love. The off-road capabilities of this rig never cease to amaze me.

Strength:

V8 Engine is great. I love the SOLID AXLES for offroad stability and strength. Turning radius is excellent. All the luxury of a Rolls and the offroad ability of a TRUE Jeep. TONS of ways to customize this ultimate vehicle as well.

Weakness:

Gas mileage with V8 engine. OEM Parts from chysler.

This is an all around great vehicle. Great own road ability, and off road ability. Nice amount of cargo space, and seating. This vehicle has no problems towing large loads either. Aftermarket parts are easy to obtain if you look in the right spots. This is truly a Jeep!!

Chevy Suburban: Much more agile, better gas mileage.

Strength:

The Grand Cherokee undeniably offers the best ride for a vehicle so capable. This vehicle is next in its stock form will outperform any SUV off-road. The Jeep is also one of the most economically upgradeable vehicles on the market due to its unique suspension. I use / abuse my Jeep fairly often. If I do stay out of the woods and mud I'm more than likely using it to tow a boat around or haul bikes. If you need one vehicle to cover all your bases...buy a Jeep.

Weakness:

The only complaint I could mention would be about the rapid wear of the brakes on my 97...this has been vastly improved in the newer models.

The Grand Cherokee offers a better ride than many of the higher priced competitors, it is unbeatable off road, and is truely the best bargain on the preowned market today. Jeep owners have more pride than any other...it's like we share a bond of sorts - of course most of you won't understand that...the unity is there. A jeep is not ajust a mode of transportation...it is a way of life!

I have worked as Preowned Inventory Manager for a huge dealership...this let me drive a wide scope of vehicles at will. I compared these vehicles against each other for years before I bought one for myself - when I need to replace this it will definately be with another Jeep.
