Grand Cherokee
Strength:
Offroading and luxury in one package, besides it's a Jeep.
Weakness:
Gas mileage is not that high, body panels are somewhat of a pain to upkeep. So far i've had absolutly nothing other than minisucle problems with the jeep. It has an amazing way that it handles itself on and off the road and the 5.2L engine gives me all the power I desire. Similar Products Used: Beats the Tahoe, blazer, and explorer i've driven, by alot. |

Strength:
Comfy, nice to look at, lots of power.
Weakness:
Steering whine. Tranny bump. Dealing with Chrysler. Beautiful looking. Nice to drive for the most part. I have noticed the steering whine like so many others. Also have the tranny engaging and bumping the vehicle into the park pin occasionally. Scary considering I have a command start hooked up to this thing, and I'm sure I'll find it running away after the park pin shears off one 40 below morning. Luckily, mine does NOT pull to the right at all, actually it handles quite nicely except for some body sway. NO STEALING MY PARTS, DAMN YOU!!! Similar Products Used: Ford F-150. 300000K. Traded it off b/c I thought it was getting old. It's been in the shop less than my Jeep. |

Strength:
Excellent power and towing capabilities. The ride is comparable to Explorer.
Weakness:
None to date Seems to be fairly good so far, especially compared to 1999 Eddie Bauer Explorer. Reading some of these reviews has me worried. Similar Products Used: Explorer |

Strength:
Great looks. Good stereo.
Weakness:
I had to have the transmission changed at 64,000 miles. It cost $3,000. I've read about similar experiences with other buyers. Chrysler, of course, would not help. New vehicles in this price range should be more reliable. I will never buy another Chrysler product after my experience with this car. Similar Products Used: None |

Weakness:
Original equipment brake rotors not durable enough for the vehicle class I was attracted by the overall look and feel of the Jeep. I had looked at the Toyota 4Runner but I wanted more power and interior hip and shoulder room. Plus I wanted real 4x4 performance. Not a glorified station wagon. An Audi Quatro station wagon beats every Lexus, Mercedes, Acura, etc poseur 4x4 with twice the comfort. Similar Products Used: Compared to Ford Broncos (those were better 4x4 than these explorer station wagons) |

V8, Sunroof, Quadra Track II, Infiinity Stereo system, Seat comfort
Weakness:
Gas Milage, You would think in this time of technological adavances progressing by leaps and bounds, someone would be able to make a powerful engine which gets good gas milage (25 city / 30 Hwy). So far I am very impressed with this vehicle. It drives very smoothly and has quite a bit of power with the V8. The seats are very compfotable and the four wheel drive (Quadra Track II) works like a charm. Overall I am pleased with this vehicle. Similar Products Used: 2001 Nissan pathfinder. The pathfinder is no comparison to the off road capabilities of the Jeep. However, the Jeep does not compare to the interior features of the Pathfinder...Domestic vs. Import |

Looks Great
Weakness:
Obviously I love jeeps but there are some problems and for me to say that says A LOT. ok here goes: I am 29 years old and have loved Jeeps my whole life. I started out with an 85 CJ Laredo, moved on to a few wranglers (94 sahara and 89 laredo) and a 1992 cherokee. I decided it was time to get the "flag ship" of jeep. The grand cherokee. Purchased it 2 years old for $19,000 with 30 thousand miles on it. Got the extended warranty to 70k (a must w/ any jeep!!) Top of the line laredo. Everything except leather. Great truck...great options..somewhat unreliable but Ill explain that later Similar Products Used: 94 sahara, 1980 280 zx, 1989 wrangler laredo, 1992 cherokee...When its running right there is nothing that I've ever driven that compares to the Grand Cherokee. However, it isnt the most reliable truck. Ive almost been soured by jeep but I ve learned to understand that it isnt a Mercedes..its a jeep...its as reliable as most other american cars...Its probably best to get one new and keep it for 4 years and give it to someone else when the problems start...Now I know why they lease so many...Ive given this produce 4 stars on both value because its still worth about 13 grand and on Overall rating because I would buy another jeep (just new) Think Im going back to the wrangler (a new sahara :) ) |

Weakness:
brake rotors are horrible. just had my third set in 40K miles and was told by the dealer they have a new supplier this time. the brakes when true are very powerful and responsive with minimal fade, but once the rotors warp it's very scary. the transfer case has leaked after 3 attempts by dealer to reseal. front passenger window motor broke. after heavy rain water leaks into driver floor board. inconsistent starting, sometimes it starts right away, other times it keeps turning over. dealer can't find a code on it. may be fuel pump. gas mileage is terrible. I had the 4 liter in my old cherokee which was probably 15% on gas. lastly, the autolock went at the same time the window did. was told it was a wiring harness. i'm starting to hear a whine out of the rear diff. had three in my 87 cherokee. for an "off-road" vehicle it should be one part of the truck that you can really trust. I've been looking at this site ever since I had my first problem with my 99 JGC (about 2 weeks into owning it). Lately there has been a rash of people with 5 star ratings who leave vague reviews about this being the best SUV they've ever owned. I've been driving Jeeps since 1987 and am fairly loyal to the brand, but not so much that I would deceive potential buyers into thinking this is a truck without faults. For those of you who have nothing more to say than go drive a Lexus and insist that there's just nothing wrong with the new GCs remember that it's a slippery slope between what you're saying and the guy in the bad suit who sold you the truck in the first place. Strength:
4.7 V8 is the best engine I have ever owned. I really like the semi-nodular iron engine bed-plate, very tough, normally only seen in high-end diesel engines.
Weakness:
None Very inovative quadra-drive 4-wheel-drive system is the best all-around performing system available. Durable front and rear no compromise live axles leaves independently suspended vehicles behind when the going gets rough. Similar Products Used: Isuzu Trooper -- Jeep is much improved in all areas, especially NVH. |

Strength:
versatility, 4x4, size (not too big, not to small), towing ability, comfort, price, handling, power, ruggedness
Weakness:
it's a gass guzzler :-) Excellent. Great ride, both on road and off. That versatility makes it an absolute joy to drive. Whether you're towing a boat, loading it to the gills while moving, or wanting something somewhat peppy, it never fails to perform well. Similar Products Used: Nissan Pathfinder. Everyday I'm more and more happy with the Jeep. The pathfinder felt like a big steel cage, wasn't as powerful at lower rpms, and can't compare off asphalt. |
