Strength:

4 wheel drive system is the best out of any suv. Wider lowered roll over rate. New engine which runs better and quieter. New transmission made by Mercedes that is said to last longer and it does feel a lot smother

Weakness:

lowered ground clearance they said they did this so people could get into it easier. It makes it harder for off roading.

This is the nicest jeep I have ever drove in I owned a 1993 grand cherokee before this and I loved it. They took all of the good features and kept them and added even more good features. I will only drive a jeep

Similar Products Used:

I have driven the lexus suv, chevy tahoe, GMC jimmy, and chevy blazer none of which come close to driving my jeep. The ride is smother and the 4 wheel drive system is smother!

Model Reviewed: Jeep Grand Cherokee TSI

Strength:

V-8 catches speed good when it''s not missing. And great in bad weather.

Weakness:

everything - electrical, engine, etc.

Troubled? I little bit. Our first Jeep 1996 was fine no problems. But since we purchased the Jeep Grand Cherokee TSI, nothing but troubles. Engine light (nobody knows), transmission problems, brakes, leaks everything, Goes through tires like no other (all wheel drive maybe), lots of electrical problems, mirrors work sometimes, rear wiper out, I could go on and on but with the TSI we have spend more on repairs and in five years of having a Toyota car with 220,000 miles. Trading it in asap, and only had a year.

Strength:

I Haven''t Found one thing other than the way the Vehicle appeared when I Purchaed it.

Weakness:

Bumper to Bumper Weakness. Junk all the way around.

100% Pure Junk. My 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee has Ruined me on any other purchaces of Chrysler Products in the Future, EVER. My Jeep is Constantly Indicating the Rear Lamps are out, Which are not, Constanly the Gas Gauge will go to empty and repeatedly beep at me to warn that I''m out of Gas when in fact I filled up 5 Minutes ago. Rear Hatch No Longer opens, Squeaks Like nothing I''ve ever heard. Replaced Front Springs and rear shocks, Breaks-Front and rear 3 Times Each. $2500.00 of other electrical work to just make it start and run. I wish there was a Sub-Zero Rating to Rate this Vehicle. I STRONGLY urge nobody to but such sorry Crafstmanship in a Vehicle.

Strength:

Comfortable to drive, nice power (I have the V8, still looks nice even though it is 7 yrs old

Weakness:

I could have bought another car with the amount of money I have put into my Jeep. CONSTANTLY at the shop!

Love the looks (Limited), but can''t stand this truck! I have had one problem after another, most of which stump the Jeep repairmen and make me return several times before (and if) a solution is found. Jeep consumer relations tells me these problems are ''normal''!

Strength:

Very comfortable ride. Great Looking.

Weakness:

Mechanically not very reliable.

I have owned this vehicle for 7 years. Thank God I had an extended warantee. The problems were as follows: 1. Motor mounts failed twice, first while under original warranty, second time was not covered by extended factory warranty. 2. A/C evaporator. 3. Check Engine light comes on continuously and dealer usually cant figure out why. 4. Ignition problems...twice left stranded. 5. Twice had Fuel tank problems....$600 each time..was not bad gas, but chrysler would not admit a fuel tank problem. 6. Power Antenna failed 7. Water pump failed. 8. A/C compressor. 9. Numerous Engine oil leaks. Repaired once and been fine since. I have been looking at a new vehicle and am very wary of another Jeep.

Looks.

Weakness:

Everything else.

Worst SUV ever owned. This thing has been in the shop more than any other vehicle I''ve ever owned. The "real" post on this forum seem to match my statements. Rear axle problems, trans, and of course the piece of #*!# Quadra-Trac 4-wheel drive. My 97 JGC Laredo 4x2 was better built than this thing. I will unload it as soon as possible, and buy a VW Passat Wagon.

okay perfromance-when it runs...

Weakness:

tranny replaced, rear diff replaced, front rotors replaced, gas gauge replaced-all within 20,000 miles.

biggest pice of junk i ever owned. to make matters worse, the dealer has the worst service dept. rear diff went at 12,00 miles, tranny at 18,000, dealer does not do their own tranny work, so they said it would take 2 weeks...asked for a loaner, they said they don;t supply them.
never buy chrysler again.

Strength:

Infinity Gold sound system - fantastic
Four wheel drive system - lol in CANADA...ALWAYS
Looks and style - pretty good, but my improvements are superior
Cloth interior - better than leather, and really soft
Power seat's - definite plus
Rear view mirror dimmer - I thought it was just a cruddy little gimic, but I find it very helpful.

Weakness:

Original equipment brake rotors not durable enough for the vehicle class
Some drivetrain harshness...Chrysler couldn't be any cheaper that to give us cruddy brakes.
At 35,000km rotors are warped, MESSAGE TO CHRYSLER: Don't put cruddy brakes on any vehicle you may kill people...FORD ring a bell.
So now I have to pay for new rotors and pads, meanwhile they guarantee them for at least a year...hmmm I have had this for 6 months and I have to pay.
Also this dealership I purchased the vehicle from was a good bunch when I purchased it, but now they are the most misserable people I have ever seen. The only people that I enjoy dealing with at the dealership is the mechanics, they treat me with respect.
But if I walk into the shark pit area (salesmen)I get treated like some welfare case. Yes I am a young person 25 in fact, but I payed cash for my Jeep with my money...And now they are back to being ignorant and unapproachable.
I will never buy a chrysler product again, my fiancee purchased a Saturn SC2 and they are the most delightful people we have ever dealt with.
Well Chrysler you just lost another...way to go!!!
You have terrible customer service.
Well I am purchasing some after market performance brakes for my Jeep which have a 3 year warranty, cost may be extreme but nothing is to extreme for safety.
Besides it will go well with the new style Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that it will be...definite attraction from all.
Wish you could all see it, maybe some day you will could revolutionise this suv to be the ultimate.

Well as I see it this vehicle has been a treat to drive.
The various capabilities that it does have make it the ultimate vacationing retreate vehicle.
My Jeep is the 4.7L V-6 with the factory 195HP, and I find that it is more than enough, considering the added weight and fuel consumption of the V-8.
I am currently looking into a Kenne Bell supercharger which will give me constant boost pushing my horsepower levels to 290HP.
Putting that on a V-8 would be rediculos on fuel and infact would lose to the V-6, I have seen it with my own eye's.
My Jeep is not to bad on the fuel consumption, and the Infinty Gold sound system is very impressive.

Strength:

Looks nice, good luxuries like auto day/night mirror and steering wheel radio controls, but those are common on many vehicles now.

Weakness:

Poor quality and poor customer service from Chrysler although the dealer has been pleasant to deal with.

I have not been at all impressed with this SUV. We have had problems from the beginning with the power windows (3 of 4 motors have gone out) and brake rotors (will be going in tomorrow for replacement number 4 on warped rotors). Chrysler does not seem concerned with a permanent fix on these problems. Right now they are covered under warranty but I'm at 33,000 miles, so what happens after 3000 more?
