Strength:
Very comfortable. Rides like a car. Easy to park with tight turn radius. Plenty of power with the 4.0 I6. 21.5MPG on my last trip to FL. Very durable fabric on seats. Good visiblity. Excellent resale value. Easy to work on for us "shadetree mechanics". Quadratrac and ABS are superior! Plastic fuel tank (no rusting out here!).
Weakness:
Information Center clock does not sync with one in radio. Loud when cold (as in below 20 degrees). Remote for doors is useless unless right up on car. No cupholder or armrest in rear (do you hear me Chrysler?). Info center is annoying when you are due for oil change (beeep,,,,beeeep....beeeep...). Spare tire should be SOMEWHERE else! Small glovebox. I have owned it for 4 years. Put approximately 75K miles on it. Have the QuadraTrac transmission, 6 cyl. Power everything. Similar Products Used: Ford Bronco II. |

Weakness:
-reliability and so much I don''t have the strength to list here This is a hunk of junk, DO NOT BUY. I have changed all the brakes and rotors, some electrical and recently discovered 3 new oil leaks. The dealership and mfg could care less. They do seem to like collecting the $1200 for a brake job though and charging $85 just for looking into what is wrong. Strength:
The most beautiful SUV. My wife loves to drive it. Lots of power and good on gas. Dependable. It is a very quick moving machine. Driving on ice feels like driving on gravel road.
Weakness:
The purchase price. Priced in Canadian Dollars. Great Machine. Drives like a tank which makes it safe. Got the V8 4.7 litre Quadra Drive fully loaded. Just do not have the leather cuz I don''t need it in Canada. Great sound system with 10 CD changer in the back. Bought the 5 year gold plan just in case. Already drove it for 24000 miles and no problem yet. It has lots of power anytime. When travelling, it has enough room for my wife, twin daughters (19 months old), boxer and luggages. This machine is a good puller. If you have the money, buy it and make sure it''s the V8 Quadra Drive - all time four wheel drive and I get 25 miles per gallon during summer driving, that is good compared to most SUV''s. So long only my attorney has the complete list. I hate this Jeep Junk. I know my service dept. manager very well now, since they drive my jeep more than I do. I have had everything in the driveline replaced, somethings twice. Transmission replaced once, and brakes replaced three times. The service dept. is very nice, I would say, they give me a loner car even though jeep wont provide one. We are a young couple, and this is our only "good" vehicle, and it is driving me nuts. But I can''t afford to get rid of the thing either. It has been in the shop more than 30 times in 10 months with only 24000 miles on it. I hate it!!!! Got to love a car with 181,000 miles and have the original engine, transmission, differential and paint. Everything on it still works. The infinity 5 band eq''d CD system with 250 watts from the factory. All the power windows, door locks, power moon roof, air conditioning system and power seats work. The interior is pillow gray leather. It is beautiful like new. ...and I have 181,000 miles on it!!! ha, ha, ha, HA<, HAAA<<
Weakness:
At 180,000 miles I took it into service at the dealership that sold it to me. They found my transfer case was leaking a little oil!!! After 181,000 miles!!! Who cares about a little oil leak!!! Thank you for finding a problem with my car Kirkland Jeep!!! I got 181,000 miles on my Jeep Grand Cherokee LTD. The only mechanical item I have changed is the water pump at 120,000 miles. Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!!! I have never driven a car over 90,000 miles without major engine wear or mechanical failures. This is the first car (out of 16 cars and trucks) since 1976 when I started to drive that has gone over 100,000!!! Ha, Ha, Ha!!! This is the most reliable car I have ever owned in my life! Thank you to everyone at Jeep for being sober the day you made my car!!! I have a friend who Chev. SUV was literally made the January 3. It had so many problems this page is too small. Thank you again Jeep for keeping everyone sober the day you made my 1994 Grand Cherokee LTD. Happy New Years! Sleek design. Decent gas mileage for an SUV.
Weakness:
Stiffer than stiff suspension, poor traction, warranty problems such as brakes, transmission, differential, 4_wheel drive indicator light doesn''t come on. I couold go on and on. As a former Cherokee owner and lover, I couldn''t wait to buy another one. I had read that the 99''s had many improvements and thought this was the time to get back into Jeep. Unfortunately I was wrong. I have experienced many problems, some of which have been corrected under warranty after many visits to the dealer. Transmission, brake, differential are but a few of problems that have plagued this vehicle. It has the roughest suspension I have ever experienced, every bump, railroad track or manhole cover jars you terribly. It is not comfortable at all. Personally, I don''t think it handles well in the rain or snow. i simply don''t feel that confident or safe in this Jeep, especially compared to my last one. This will be the last Jeep I ever buy! Strength:
Good 4 wheel drive system, pretty body style....that about it.
Weakness:
Everything, transmission went out, fuel pump went out, constant oil leaks, manfoild is cracked, idles very loud, brakes sqeek, rotors are always being replaced, cadilac convertor had to be replaced, abs brake system went out.....as for jeep needs to improve their SUV''s ....the body style are the only appealing feature. It is in the shop at least once or twice a month....with hundreds of dollars of repairs needed....not worth the money. the body style is very appealing, and the 4 wheel drive has been very dependable. The jeep seems to handle well off road. Similar Products Used: 97 Toyota 4Runner, 91 Jeep Cherokee |

Strength:
Good looks, good dealer service.
Weakness:
Uncomfortable rear seats, bad wipers, bad 4WD, quickly-wearing breaks, is stolen alot, recieved only a MARGINAL safety rating, slow/underpowered. This is one of the worst cars I have EVER owned. It was good for a month or two, but it went downhill from there. Jeep has SERIOUS quality issues. The wipers break often, the four-wheel drive works when it wants to, the heated seats will sometimes not work and will practically burn you other times, and it has a bad heater/ air conditioner.
