Strength:

Comfort features and styling.

Weakness:

Very poor quality and reliability.

This is the most unreliable vehicle that I have ever owned. Significant problems while under warranty with the transmission, differential, wheel bearings, exhaust, power windows, fuel pump and electronics. I recently had the transmission re-built for the 2nd time with less than 50,000 miles on the vehicle.

Strength:

Suspension, engine, turning radius, 4X4 drive. Pretty much the whole package.

Weakness:

It''s always in 4X4 drive. (But if you have a Jeep then,....well, you know where I''m going with this)

I love this Jeep. I have a V8 5.2L 318 engine. This baby has alot of balls! I go everywhere and anywhere. It''s just keeps on going. I''d own another one for sure. This is without a doubt the best vehicle I''ve ever owned. Keep in mind, it takes a certain kind of person to own a Jeep.

THE BEST VEHICLE THAT I EVER OWNED!!! CAN''T BEAT THE HANDLING, RELIABILITY, CONTROL AND LUXURY. WITH A K&N COLD AIR INTAKE YOU GET A LOT BETTER GAS MILEAGE WITH A 5.2 V8 (14-16 CITY 18-22 HIGHWAY) AND AT LEAST 25 EXTRA HORSE POWER. 0-60 IN 6.9 SECONDS. POWER TO GO ANYWHERE AND SUSENSION IS GREAT ON ROAD AND OFF. DON''T LISTEN TO ANY BAD REVEIWS YOU HEAR ABOUT JEEPS , THOSE PEOPLE ARE MORONS. JUST TEST DRIVE THEM AND YOU''LL SEEM MY POINT OF VEIW.

Jeep Name Style Gas mileage for a 4X4

Weakness:

Brakes Short wheel base ride.

Generally a nice vehicle but not the best that I have owned. I traded in a 00 gas guzzling truck for a more economical set of wheels. This is the inline 6 which actually has a fair amount of pep. Gets about 20 Hwy at interstate speeds. After reading the reviews on this jeep I figured that the rotor problem should now have gotten back to the builders of this make. No such luck. Warping. I did find out that it''s a combination of cost and weight plus poor cooling of the whole braking system. Cost=foreign, weight=less density to reduce the overall weight on vehicle, cooling=poor circulation around braking surface. The ride is a little choppy due to short wheel base. Not very friendly after an all day drive. Pulls slightly to right. Downright crappy in a side wind with the light weight and the larger profile. But overall I got what I needed, better gas mileage.

ENGINE STALL!

Absolutely the worst car I ever owned. Many minor problems with one major one: Engine Stall. They can not find what is causing it, and failed to fix it. Never buy another Chrysler car again; maybe except Mercedes :) Filed the Lemon Law and got $500 offer after 1 and 1/2 years. What a corporation!

Strength:

Offroad its unreal, Stereo system, paint is great, not too huge, great seats and both the consoles are a great idea that help out.

Weakness:

Gas mileage, brakes are shaky sometimes, too much plastic thats easily damaged if not careful if offroading.

I can honestly say that this vehicle is the greatest thing I have ever been in in my life. It has it all for my purposes and I have never had ONE problem with the thing either. It is totally unmatched off the highway, not even close. I have had this thing with water up to the hood and it goes right through it, then you go clean it off and 2 hours later it feels like your driving a lexus on the main highway. What else can you want? I understand each person has different needs, but for me, it gets no better then this SUV. I personally dont like the newer design as much as the old one, but someday I will probably own one as long as they dont change to drastically.

Ride is better than the 1998--love everything but the brakes!

Weakness:

Brakes-rotors warp

THis is my third Grand Cherokee, and the worst! I have gone through 4 sets of brake pads and 2 sets of rotors. It only has 40,000 miles. It needs a brake job every 7000 miles. Jeep covered the first few, but now feels it is normal wear and tear. I only needed 1 set of pads on the last Jeep and that had 78000 miles when we traded it in! The machanic said that the 2000 Jeeps have a history of brake problems---an expensive one!

Strength:

-Styling (chicks dig it) -Good ride(for a SUV)

Weakness:

-Read above review summary -no real storage area (I have to cram junk under the seats and the drivers manual doesn''t even fit in the glove compartment so everything goes in the back) -maintenence gets to be VERY expensive

Am coming up to the end of my 3yr lease (have 38000 kms on it)and was thinking about buying this piece of garbage but have changed my mind. Like all of the other 1999 owners here (read all the reviews), I have had my share of problems. Had to take it in for work on the driver side window, the roof leaked, the shocks horribly screech when I go over bumps when the weather is cool (think 5C and lower), the transmission doesn''t engage properly when shifting back and forth from 2wd to 4wd (you get to hear a huge bang come from the transmission and the whole vehicle shudders when it screws up)- of course that never happens at the dealership- and console warning lights come on for no reason (parking brake for me). That''s not all...Already feel the brakes pulse cause of those rotors ( and no its not the ABS-I know the difference) and I hear and feel a rubbing noise whenever I back it up. DO NOT GET THIS YEAR. Laugh in the face of the salesman and leave if they even suggest it.

Strength:

Looks good. Nice roof gizmo that tells you outside temps and gas useage. Good paint and finish. Good engine power.

Weakness:

See above review.

Sorry, I thought I was buying a rough and tumble workhorse but it doesn''t seem to be one. Now have 65,000 miles and had to replace all the rotors and the brakes at 48,000 miles. Both O2 sensors failed on highway at 53,000 miles and barley made it off the expressway. Trany fluid leaking from cooling line that could not be serviced and need entire new radiator at 62,000 miles. Good thing they now give extended warranty, your going to need it!
