Strength:

good ride, good motor (5.2 liter), and good acceleration

Weakness:

bad running gears, if one end isn't howling the other is, and it is getting hard to take.

this is my second grand cherokee, the first had very few problems, but I have had to replace the entire front end, ring and pinion in the rear end, and the rear end is howling again. My extended warranty ran out 3000 miles ago, and will not cost me $2000 to get it fixed. I think Chrysler corp. or Jeep should have to fix it. I know I am not going to buy another Jeep unless something can be worked out with them.

Strength:

Great looks, smooth ride(except for that noise).

Weakness:

Should not have had to have rotors turned down at 16,000 miles. Whats that about? The whining noise has got to go.

Traded in a 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab. Biggest mistake of my life! The Jeep looked really great in the show room (and still does). Had to argue with dealership to turn rotors at 16,000 miles. Makes horrible whining noise whe running A/C.

Runs great even with 100K miles. I replaced the breaks (they didn't need it) just to be safe. Very comfortable.

Strength:

I like the body style and it is more like a car than SUV

Weakness:

I''d have to say the brakes. I will be listening closely and if I start to hear the squeak again I will immediately take it back in.

Brake rotors. Within 8 mos. the brakes were squeaking at stops. Took it in they said the rotors were uneven and when I needed brakes they would turn them. Well by the time I needed brakes I had to buy 2 new rotors, a brake job that cost me $700.

Model Reviewed: /Grand Chk. Overland

Strength:

4.7 H.O. Engine, Nice seats, quiet ride, smooth. Drives like a car not a truck.

Weakness:

Gas Tank Capacity, no third seat, and the new engine sucks the fuel when you stomp on it.

This is the third JEEP Grand Chk. I have owned. 86, 99, 02. I have never encountered any MAJOR problems as others have spoke off. My 99 had two power window motors go bad but this was a problem with bad motors not the JEEP itself. I now own the JEEP Grand Chk. Overland and all I can say is Fast, smooth, and takes off like a bat out of H***. Nice ride nice looks. Outside of not having the third seat I would recommend it.

Strength:

4x4, power, tight turning radius

Weakness:

Poor reliability, excessive body roll translating into lack of confidence in terms of stability, loud engine noise, poor sound insulation

This product proved to be a good buy the first 2 months or so after I bought it. Unfortunately, after that, I had to keep putting money into it to keep it going. The last straw occurred when I had to have the vehicle towed two weekends in a row for faulty ignition problems. The list of repairs includes leaking seals on the transfer case, 8 new fuel injectors$$$, new front axle boots, new front steering dampener, new radiator, new serpentine belt tensioner and idler pulleys, new catalytic converter, fixing a bumper that fell off, new air conditioning compressor, cracked exhaust manifold, new ignition coils, differentials were leaking etc... The transmission was also starting to go.

everything about this car says strenghts and nothing says weaknesses.. this is a all around better car and the guys at shaver are very very helpful and they do take costco members but they usually have better deals there than costco..

Weakness:

none

Hi this is my second jeep.. this one is better than the last one on comfort. This one has more power and all the bells and whistles. This one handles a bit better and you are not worring about what all the shakes and wobbling are. my Last jeep was a laredo and it was wonderful too.. the laredo I had did not have electric seats and height controls. the laredo I had did not have a sun roof. the laredo did not have heated seats. with a bad back the heated seats are really a comfort. the limited I swear is bigger on the inside than the laredo and has an extra power port which if you are working out of your car in real estate is very very helpful. I raise dogs part time and I do real estate full time.. and there are things about this one that are better when you have clients in the car.I have never had a problem with the laredo I drive about 3000 a month so I really know exactly where all the bumps and shakes are in the car and when you drive 65-80 miles an hour you know.. I do a lot of freeway driving in this vehicle. so the car needs to handle good.. and sometimes I have a dog sitting in my lap, so it has to handle with that.. and this limited handles better..

Strength:

its looks and styling

Weakness:

brake rotors, fuel pump, interior mechanics (window motor) and gas mileage.

BE WARNED! The Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo is s piece of junk! I purchased the vehicle Mar 00 and traded in April 01. At trade in the vehicle had 17,467 miles on it. Within the 13 months I owned the vehicle - there were several problems that had to be fixed > brake rotors > passenger side front window motor broke > the fule pump did not work properly, in which I had to keep starting the car 3 or 4 times to get it to turnover. A new car with 17,000 miles should never have all of the problems, never!
