Strength:

Weakness:
See above -- and although the dealership knows about the problems, they won't take accountability for the fact that the car is a lemon. Never again! Fortunately this was a lease and we can give it back in November -- only 28,000 miles on it -- 4 times for brakes &/or rotars, motor in d/s seat broke, alarm going off for no reason, taillight electronic problems, 2 other recalls for things I can't remember, and the last straw -- travelling 75 mph on a major highway and the oil pump broke -- totally shutting down all power! We could have been killed --- dealer says thats ok and they know about problems with 99 and 00 model year ... and nerve to ask us if we want to buy another since the bugs have been worked out with the 02 model! It's a piece of junk! |

Strength:
Looks Stereo is unreal Goes through anything in Minnesota winter (00-01 best test until Mar 02) Sturdy/secure, can tow if ever need to
Weakness:
Pricey but so are all SUVs Rotors better not still be bad or we'll replace w/non Jeep part Mileage ok but avg 17 in first 20,000 miles (22 @ 55mph but drops to 18@ 75) Could do with a little more room in backseat and hatch: despite bragging tire is inside I would put it underneath and gain more hatchroom We have an 01 GJC Laredo 'loaded' with leather,Infinity stereo, pretty much all but did get I6. (Stayed with I6 since 3 persons swear by it, "200,000 mi engine" by all counts). My wife and I both love it, based on other reviews it's either love or hate with this vehicle (I suspect the 99 year had problems but 00-02 ea get better). Lots of complements by friends, let wife start driving it last winter and she won't give it up now. Two warranty items in almost 23,000 mi: dvrs seat heater, A/C switch. We did have to turn rotors at 18,000 mi even tho dealer assured us that problem was fixed before we bought it, so I will watch that but dealer says covered by warranty till 36000 mi - some reviews imply it's not, you need to push the dealer to do it. While we got a great deal ($1000 under dealer price, then 2% finance and $1000 rebate besides) I am still envious of 0% finance w/7/70 powertrain warranty deals - buy one now! PS-hope this is not a 2nd review as did one to another web url that looks a lot like this 2Q01, hmmm Similar Products Used: Had 2 caravans before, no SUVs |

It has 200,000 miles and has been in Northern California and even other states! to sum it up, this SUV is reliable. Similar Products Used: Toyota 4-runner- too small and pricy |

Strength:
Power, milage, looks, reliability, and easy to work on.
Weakness:
No real complaints. Best vehical I have ever owned. I have put 55k miles on it in just over 2 years and only have had to replace the water pump, a $50 computer part, and front rotors. For those who have written about all the work they have had to have on there Jeeps and think they suck I would say "Don't operate replace". Any honest mechanic will tell you getting a used part from a salvage yard is almost always a better idea than trying to fix what you have. And it seems most of your complaints were about fixing the same problem. |

Strength:
Looks, size, price, comfort, interior is real nice. has the best ride out the SUVs i've drove( Jimmy, SLT Explorer, fully loaded Durango).
Weakness:
so far none. reliability? Have the I6 with everything but leather (sunroof and all). Love it. I6 has descent puckup, better than the V8 durango. Not to big not to small. Big people still might feel cramped in back but has descent space. |

Numerous quality issues. Specifically, Brakes, and suspension. Two major problems. Rear suspension repalced in its entirety after 14,000. Rotors turned once at 7,500 miles, then again at 13,000, and now they need to be turned AGAIN at 17,600 miles, all at my expense. Jeep refuses to admit the brakes outright suck, and need to be replaced. I was told it is the way we drive buy the local service manager. Thing is, both vehicles in my family are driven equally by the same two people. My Dodge Ram has had the rotors turned once at 50,000 miles. Last problem is the alarm just goes off when riding down the street for no reason at all. I have to tell you, it's great riding through your neighborhood with "BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP" resounding off of your neighbors houses. I would NEVER buy another Jeep. RESIST THE TEMPTATION if you are researching for yourself! |

Strength:
Everything about it great car I6 has some balls great in the snow all my friends love it
Weakness:
non-stop oil dripping loud engine I bought my JEEP in 1998 with 100,000 miles on it. I now still own it and I have 150,000 miles on it and it still kicks butt. It is a straight six engine and I use it two my malibu boat. It does a great job especially when out of overdrive. People who say this jeep sucks, suck. The breaks have had to be replaced a couple of times but that's normal where and tear. And for the rotors, just don't replace them with JEEP manufactured rotors and your good to go. The headers did crack on it and that has been my only real repair. But, I put Borla exhaust headers on it and now it runs even better especially with the k&n air filter. Buy a JEEP I would suggest one to anyone. Just beat the hell out of it and it will do you fine. Similar Products Used: ford truck |

Beautiful design, stereo system (Infinniti Gold), rides like a car, cargo space.
Weakness:
engine, transmission, hatch, rear view mirror. Jeeps are pieces of crap! A few months after purchase it started not changing gears smoothly. It would run high and then jerk into the next gear. My stepfather's has the same problem but he hasn't had all of the other problems we had. We replaced the breaks and the rotors. The back hatch started getting stuck. The rear view mirror fell off and no glue on the planet would hold it on. We replaced the engine at 90,000 and then were told that the transmission was bad as well, along with the fact that this was common in Cherokees. This is when we unloaded this monster on a friend who sold it at auction to some unlucky SOB. In the end with all the repairs and what we got for it at auction we lost more money then was paid for it. Then recently my boss bought a Cherokee, even though I told her of all of our problems. 1 month later the engine has to be replaced. Run do not walk away from these pieces of garbage!!!!!!!
