Strength:

4x4, size, engine, power, design, AC is powerful, hugs the road better than any SUV i've had/driven, comfortable, and the RIDE is NOT ROUGH. . . like drivin' a caddy. Doesn't drive like a truck, but has the Attitude of BIG-FOOT.

Weakness:

GAS MILEAGE SUCKS. 15-20 MPG. TOPS. Factory stereo is awful. Back Hatch hydrolics wore-out too easily.

AMAZING vehicle. . . im at 198K miles. . . and just had my first real problem. Transmission is screwing up. thinking it's just the filter and some other cheap parts, not the actual transmission. But the Jeep is awesome. Still looks new, and drives GREAT. Engine runs brand new. Roomy, powerful, elegant, and all who come in contact RANT and RAVE about it. They think its a new car. 4X4 on this SUV is awesome. During the snow/ice storms here in Nashville, i counted 220 cars stuck on the side of the interstate, and my GC was hummin' along like it was just cruzin' on a normal day. the AC is powerful, factory tinted windows are nice, and it's ROOMY. Camp in it all the time. LOVE IT. GET ONE. i got a steal of a deal. . .paying only 2200 for it, and street value now in 2003 for the 1995 jeep GC is still 5200. It's great!

Strength:

Luxury car at a standard price.

Weakness:

Can't fit anything in the glove compartment. Problem with neutral switch. This did not bother me after I knew hoe to start it.

I bought my Grand Cherokee in 1999 with 90K miles on it. I was was then still wonderin if I should spend my money on an American car. You want an SUV, get the Grand Cherokee. 173K miles and so far so good. Of course, I replaced a few things but that has been the case fo anyother car I owned. I love the GC. I am hooked. I am now trying to sell it for I am looking for a newer one (1996-1998 range, wish I could afford a 1999, like the shape). Ten years from now, I am going to buy the 7 passenger model if it is ever made.

Strength:

good torque in motor, sound system

Weakness:

terrible stock shocks, window motors, and rear end now needs complete overhaul with only 29,500 miles. $1250 to repair

Good looks, decent mileage compared to my F150 4x4, decent ride, a bit tight inside if over 6' tall. I wrote Chrysler corp and all 50 states Attorneys General, Need more people to write their Att. General and complain.

Strength:

Fuel efficient, grunt, good brakes, great looks, competent off road (as good as Land Rover Discovery). feels more like a station wagon on steroids than a truck like 4x4. Easier for small kids to get in and out.

Weakness:

No where to put things except centre console. Marginal crash test results but good (low) crash rates. Mirror position on windscreen ridiculous. Front seats wobble, rear seats poor leg room. Some instability on cornering (take it easy). No indicator that rear seats are locked into position (must check manually).

Laredo, just new done 500 miles, 2.7 litre Diesel already giving 32 mpg (9.7 lt/100 Km). 0 - 60 mph 11 sec. Exceptional torque and acceleration compared to rival diesels. Rear view mirror low and blocks view to left. No clock if radio on (station frequency instead). Needs a clock. Reasonable cargo space in rear but no cargo cover (bit lousy for an expensive car). Not much in the way of cabin storage areas - e.g. no map holder, very small door bins and small glove box. Front seats great but rear passengers need short legs and have poor visibility forward due to front head rests. Quiet ride, nice cruise on hwy. Handling average compared to Land Rover Discovery (with ACE). Engine more refined than Landie. Quadra Drive works well on wet roads! OK on steep loose tracks. Just wish the crash test result was better (compromised for economy, power, side air bags and roll-over safety). Hope the spare in the trunk doesn't squash back seat passengers if I get hit in the rear. A few improvements and I'd buy another one.

Strength:

-great engine -great performance -great 4 wheel drive-drove in over 20 inches of snow no problem

Weakness:

Sucks too much gas,but it is worth it

Great truck! The 4.7 liter engine is a joy-just hit the gas pedal and you are gone. Quadra drive makes you feel like your in control now matter what the weather. I bought it with 73,000 miles and have only two problems-sometimes the trans doesn't go into gear right away and the emergency brake doesn't work properly. Other than that it is a great truck planning to keep it for awhile

Strength:

I put a lot of highway driving miles on this SUV and have been rear ended 4 times. It is definitely safe in a collision, and comfortable to drive.

This auto has been a lemon from the first moment. Immediately after purchasing, the cruise control stopped working. We took it in for repair, they had it 2 days. After 2 weeks, the cruise control did not work again. The air conditioner went soon after, then the fuel pump. This happened while it was still under warranty. After the warranty expired, three of the electric window motors broke and the electric door locks. Soon after that, I had to replace the transmission. Then the air conditioning fan went. This automobile has many problems and the dealer did not back it up. I did not believe that a Transmission would have to be replace prior to this auto reaching the 100,000 mile mark.

Strength:

Luxury, great price

Weakness:

Luxury at great price is due to INCREDIBLY poor service record, and it is consistent for sure -- a Grand Cherokee is just guaranteed to break down. Don't do it! If you just can't resist the great price, BUY A WARRANTY!

Are you kidding? This has got to be the worst car in production. DO NOT BUY A GRAND CHEROKEE. They have consistent failures across the line -- Jeep is undoubtedly installing parts that they know quite well have a terrible failure rate. I've done $8000 work on this car in three years, including two trannies and a list of electrical repairs longer than my... Well its a long list.

Strength:

Most loved: the amenities: the awsome soumd system, the heated seats, the layout of the controls (the aux. buttons for the sound on the back of the wheel are a pleasure), the moonroof is not windy as in other cars, the reading lamps in the back seat are even a joy for passengers, and at 6-2, it's comfortable to drive. All of the controls are logical as long as your familiar with the switches on the steering wheel stalks. Funny, but in the desert, the temperature gauge becomes the most used! Another note, Chrysler works hard to insure their customers are satisfied.

Weakness:

Least liked: the rocking motion going over bumps on paved roads, the lack of a arm rest in the back seat, the creaking of the moonroof on rough roads, the lack of storage, and the steering. Compared to our Liberty, there is a lack of on center feel. The only repairs logged by Chrysler: the drivers power window motor went out at 30,000

This is my 3rd Jeep G.C. I bought it used with 28,000 miles. They only keep getting better. I installed a K&N air cleaner, which was worth every penny. My mileage around town varies from 14 to 24 on the highway with the 4.7 4x. I rarely saw 14 from my Dodge 4x4. I love the weight. The quadra drive is a joy to drive off-road as well as in our thunderstorms. I can haul almost as much in the back as I did in my short bed. As much as I enjoyed my 94, my 97 and now this, I will be looking forward to the next generation of GC. As they say "It's a Jeep thing..... ;)
