Strength:

good looking car rides nice as long as it doesn't catch on fire from plastic fuel tank.

Weakness:

Plastic fuel tank that will split open in the summer heat and endanger your family. Jeep hasn't re-called tank!

the fuel tanks are plastic and will split open in the heat as did mine while my wife had it 60 mileas away from home. my waranty has expired there is no re-call replacement tanks are being made of metal and on one month back order.

Strength:

Handles well, stylish, comfortable, powerful and overall was dependable. The body and interior have held up well. Also the controls are fun. Great dependablity for first 145K.

Weakness:

Its a thirsty vehicle with the powerful V8 but thats as advertised. Cargo area was OK for a SUV. The spare tire took up a lot of space in the back. They corrected this on new Grand Cherokees by putting it on the exterior. Your taking a risk on a vehicle over 140K.

Owned this vehicle for eight years and have 165K miles and am finally selling next week. After eight years and four kids going through it, the interior looks surprisingly good. The leather seats have helped. Handles well but has dissipated somewhat over the years. Reliable and relatively low maintenance untill 145k miles. Its been to the shop a lot since then. I've put in a new engine, radiator, starter, brakes, rebuilt transfer case, new sensors, other. $7K spent the last year and a half. Air conditioner went out a few years ago (needs new compressor). Mileage is 16m per gallon. I've held onto it because I have enjoyed the power, stylishness, and comort. Four wheel drive does well in snow and mud as expected.

Strength:

Nice ride, nice interior.

Weakness:

Despite meticulous care and oil changes it has developed numerous problems in recent years and at 56000 miles needs a rebuilt engine. No off-road use. Company says the product "apparently hasn't met my expectations," and blew me off with the observation that I didn't pick up an extended warantee.

I enjoyed the ride of the vehicle for 5 years but feel that with scheduled service and oil changes the engine should last more than 56000 miles.

Strength:

good torque in 6-cylinder, good sound system, inside spare tire

Weakness:

warped brake rotors, leaking shocks, window motors, rear end now needs complete overhaul with only 29,500 miles. $1250 to repair at dealership, transmission banging in reverse. Factory not standing behind product. Go to my homepage to find out how to get their attention. http://hometown.aol.com/wheelerlgn/myhomepage/rant.html

Good looks, decent mileage, good ride, a bit tight if over 6' tall. A fairly well laid out vehicle. Weak factory support. Go to my webpage to find out how to get Chrysler to fix the problems that happened after warranty runs out. http://hometown.aol.com/wheelerlgn/myhomepage/rant.html

Strength:

Stereo, body style, smooth ride, dual controls for both passenger/driver side of the car. Heated seats, memory so that all you settings are automatically set when you start to drive the car.

Weakness:

Small glove compartment. Blind spot when changing lanes because of the high seats. Whistling noise coming from air conditioner sometimes.

Great vehicle. I travel 52 miles a day to work 5 days a week and fill my tank once a week. I think this is pretty good. Great style. Have the inferno red paint but I think it looks more like candy apple red. Great stereo, CD player. 10 CD changer. I love all the gadgets on the steering wheel column. Internal is nice, soft leather. Small glove compartment. Larger than the 93 GCL that we owned but still to small. Took a trip from Maryland to New Mexico last fall. Was the most relaxing ride I've ever had. It is amazing how many jeeps you see considering the bad report they get every year from consumer reports. This is the 2nd jeep we have had and the first last 10 years and the first thing we had to replace was the driver side window. That was in year ten. This SUV is really a joy to drive.

ive only owned this for 8 mos and havent really had any problems besides the noise occationally from the rear end

just like all others the looks got me to purchase this jeep, i have owned this jeep for 8 mos and really love it. something has stumped me though, every now and then when i go in reverse or make sharp turns i hear a groaning type of noise sounding as if it may be coming from the rear end, theres nothing wrong with the power steering pump, im just hoping theres nothing terribly wrong. if anybody out there has had the same problem please email me im really curious what could be wrong ryanandevan@gbr.com
