Strength:
Good motor, 4wd works great, plenty of room in cargo area for gear, dogs (with seats folded down) and anything else.
Weakness:
Like most SUVs, uses alot of gas. Especially in 4wd. I purchased my 2000 new late in 1999. Since then I have put over 112,000 miles on it without a single problem. This car has taken me cross country and back (not to mention one of the worst ice storms the southwest had in years) without a scratch. It is rugged and reliable both on and off road. For the money, it is a great buy. Similar Products Used: 1993 Jeep Wrangler (130,000 miles) |

Strength:
Sits up high, easy to drive, but not too big to manuever.
Weakness:
Gas Hog! Ride Way too bumpy! UGGHHH!!! I purchased this vehicle used back in March of 2002. At the time I was pregnant and was told what an excellent vehicle this would be for me and my child because of all the storage in the back for strollers etc. Suptid me, I never got in the back of it. Talk about cramped! I test drove many of them and each one drove a little differently than the one before I didn't notice how bumpy the ride was because each time I was taken on smooth roads. I chose this one because of the excellent mileage (a little over 12,000). I was also talked into buying the extended warranty...what a joke! Don't do this it covers nothing!I have trouble with the speakers, the windows, noises etc. I still end up taking it to my local mechanic because the dealership does not cover most things and they charge an arm and a leg. They also like to add on things that I did not request them to do. The ride is awful to say the least. My infant gets thrown around like a ragdoll and I can't even put him in it to go anywhere. We end up using my husbands van to take him places. And don't try to trade it in...I paid $15,000 for it and they would only give me $7,000 for it on a trade a little over a year later with only 21,000 miles. Talk about a ripoff! The only thing good about it is that it is high off the ground...it is easy to drive, but don't get this car if you have an infant!!!! Or if you want to have any savings because all of your money will be going toward buying gas....not to mention places like jiffy lube want to charge you double what they charge for regular vehicles. Everything. I put it through hell. Burnouts...offroading...you name it..I've done it.
Weakness:
stock jeeps are too small...they need at least a 3 inch lift with some bigger tires. My Cherokee has 262,000 miles. I had to replace the radiator because it deteriorated. The engine runs wonderful. Minor repairs...water pump...new plugs and that's all it has had done since about 150,000 miles I absolutely love my cherokee...I'll never get rid of it. I may get a new one to get some luxury but this one will always be around for my toy. Similar Products Used: none...who would need anything but a cherokee |

Very Powerfull engine Jeep dependability Solid 4x4 Scares off Foreign SUV's (Im talking to you CRV)
Weakness:
Gas Milage will kill you when your 16 and have no job. Not a ton of room. Hey c'mon its not a Ford Excursion or a Chevy Suburban. This has to be the toughtest SUV on the planet. It handles well in town and better off road. It laughs in the face of all the foreign SUV's and weaves around the huge Domestic SUVS's. Definetely not afraid of getting dirty like many of the newer SUV's. I have climbed every hill that i have ever tried with my Cherokee and only got stuck once and it was my fault. I once took a friend off roading with me and went up a huge hill and for the whole next week at school kids were asking me if i really went up the hill. This vehicle has saved me from bieng stranded and from getting t-boned before. The 4.0 High output inline six is the most torque happy SUV engine i have ever had the pleasure to use. The 4x4 is solid and engaged whenver It finally needed to be used (Not very often at all). In short there are many SUV's out there and there are many bad ones. The Jeep Cherokee is the only real SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE. It does not fall in the class of SUBURBAN UTILITY VEHICLE. Similar Products Used: 1991 Ford Explore-Jeep makes it look like a little girl. Chevy Blazer- They are ok but you gotta get the vortec so you dont have the heads and everything else go out on you. |

Strength:
Amazing handling. turns on a dime, stops on a dime, runs as good as any 4.0 runs, and it has over twice the mileage that most of 'em have.
Weakness:
few minor leaks, that are common to most 4.0's, not 4WD, it takes some coaxing to get it started cold, a few minor electrical luxury issues, but if i wanted comfort, i would have gotten something other than a Jeep!! I bought this jeep for that's right, $375. It has 200,235 miles, its the original engine, only minor upgrades, and it still runs incredible. I have taken it places most SUV's will never see, and it has not once complained. i have had to put a little elbow grease into it, but it is worth every bit of it. I love that jeep to death. Similar Products Used: It's my first car, and i love it. :-D It was a steal for what i paid, and i plan on driving cherokees for a VERY long time. |

JEEP CHEROKEE SPORT
Strength:
Dana gears, glossy paint, strong 4.0L engine that pulls willingly, decent gas milage and all those other attributes known to Jeep.
Weakness:
Rough downshifting in automatics, poor steel mag wheel design (they hold water), tight back seat room. A very capable SUV equipped to take you most anywhere you need to go. Performs well in almost every condition and situation you can put it in. This is my third Jeep and has the right Jeep "stuff" built into it. While not bomb-proof, it certainly is able to keep up with the Mercedes and BMW's of the SUV market. The saying goes "it's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand" applies to those who have not experienced the Jeep brand. Similar Products Used: Subarus are great cars and capable, but a Jeep is a Jeep, no matter what. I have owned both. Apply "got snow?" to the Jeep. |

Strength:
Hp and fuel economy are up significantly now!! I can go 300 miles on the hiway between fill ups! Surprises other vehicles on the road with it's passing & take-off power as well.
Weakness:
Still too bouncy. I'm putting adjustable shocks from Explorer procomp in it come summer. Not a bad suv, but after I got used to it I turned to the aftermarket to spice things up ; K&n filter system, poweraid throttle body spacer, Jet stage 2 chip ,bosch platinum + 4 plugs, 160 degree thermostat and a dvd system. |

fuel economy, steering Most badass car I have ever driven, let alone owned. Beat Acuras and BMW's in races, would beat anything off road (especially a stinkin land rover). 160,000 miles, no trouble. Similar Products Used: 5 different grand cherokees |

Gas mileage pretty good for an SUV. Power of engine is great. Looks.
Weakness:
Air conditioner I love my Cherokee. The Country has the alloy wheels, and the body is all painted (no gray plastic). It is pretty, but takes a pounding. I had a Wrangler Sahara before and my Cherokee goes just as well on the trails here in the Adirondacks of northern New York. I have driven it across the country 3 times and it now has 110,000 miles on it. The only problem I have had is with the air conditioner, which was expensive to fix. The 4.0 is strong and smooth, the A/C is cold and the sound system with cd is good for a factory system. It handles great and is not too noisy. Its great looking and seems to be built well.
Weakness:
They dont make them anymore! I LOVE my Jeep. I bought it when it was a year old as a lease return and have put 60K trouble free miles on it. It now has 83K and runs and drives like new every day. Its the best car I have ever owned. I cant believe Chrysler makes this car. Similar Products Used: Last Chrysler product was a Chrysler Cirrus that was great to 79K, but I sold it because I heard they go bad....very bad. |
