Go anywhere capability, and it's nimble in parking lots and traffic.Power in ample now too.
Weakness:
Back seat and ride!! I was thinking of getting Rancho adjustable shocks and a 7/8 rear sway bar to correct this problem. I really liked the vehicle at first, then I had to turn to k&n, rusty's off road, bosch, and jet to improve the performance.Gas milage was bad at 1st, but I fixed that problem with the upgrades. 4x4 in snow!! Thank you Jeep. Almost no blind spots. I can see it all.
Weakness:
I think i speak for all Cherokee driers when i say, #1 weakness no more Cherokees being made. And, the back seat is too small, but it's my jeep, I don't have to sit back there! My 2000 Cherokee is the best vehicle i have ever owned, it is reliable, comfortable, and practical. I went to jeep from an Olds Alero, the switch was hard at frist because the jeep really handles like a truck but once I was used to it, I can drive it like a sports car. Lots of cargo room in and on the roof, great factory sound system... i can go on and on. Similar Products Used: none |

Jeep Cherokee
We bought a brand new 95 Jeep Cherokee in 1995 and it was by far one of the worst vehicles I have ever owned. We also happened to buy a 95 Volkswagen and I kept track of the repairs. The list for the Jeep was three times as long as for the VW. I never had any trouble with the engine itself or the transmission; however everything else seemed like it either broke or fell off. The shocks were gone at 30k I replaced them with Koni and put on a rear swaybar to make the thing bearable to drive. The front rotors warped around every 20k miles. I replaced the radiator with a brass core one when the original corroded away. I put an exhaust system and a rear wiper motor on it and changed all the fluids religiously. The door handles all corroded and rusted solid and all had to be replaced. I was constantly fixing wires that had broken or connectors that rusted. There were wind and water leaks -always. I chased a noise from the rear of the car for about 6 months before I figured out that the differential was worn out. At 85k miles! Yes it had fluid in it, synthetic in fact. The carrier was worn where the bearings seat in it. Fortunately there are lots of Cherokees in the junk yard and I got a whole diff. from an ’01 with less than 10k on it. I sold the piece of junk before anything else fell off it and bought my wife an Audi A4 Quattro to drive. We still have the VW. My advice to anybody considering one of these loads would be to spend the extra money and by a 4Runner or a Pathfinder. |

it might be a little to rough when goin through those back roads. This 98 jeep Cherokee is one of the best SUV's I have ever driven. It handles great and can do anything I want it to. Either off road or on road. I have used it in really harsh conditions. hasnt failed me since I purchased it. Similar Products Used: 92 cherokee 4x4 |

Excelleration,handling,looks,wet weather traction.
Weakness:
gas mileage. This is an all around great vehicle. Excelleration and handling are great, and body roll for an SUV is well controlled. The brakes and alignment seem to go out quickly and gas mileage is great, but other than that its still a good choice for an SUV. I do drive my ckerokee under really harsh condition and I use all the engine power I could get from my jeep so I do really abuse and it holds up well. Similar Products Used: Chevrolet Blazer. |

Im 23 years old and I will never drive anything else in my life. All my other jeeps have been 4 cylinders but this new one is a 6 and damn what a difference. Ive never had a problem with the 4 cylinder but now that i have a six I'll never go back. Similar Products Used: 2 x Cherokees, 1982 cj7, 1999 Wrangler |

Cherokee
Strength:
Basic design is engineered by the best. The 4.0 liter I6 is reliable, and has incredible amounts of off the line torque. And it still has 190 horsepower for highway get up and go. Handles very well for a 4x4.
Weakness:
Rides like a truck. If your used to a truck you won't find the ride of the Cherokee much different. But if your used to Cadillacs or Buicks, its a little bumpy. But come on people its a JEEP. Off roads like (if not better) than a Wrangler, but has room for passengers and cargo that the Wrangler can't match. The old AMC 4.0 inline 6 is a strong motor that flys on the highway, and pulls like a tractor off road. If you change your oil and filter every 3000 miles the motor will run like a champ for at least 300,000 miles. And the rest of the car will last the 300k right along with the motor. It has a uniframe body that is lightweight and very strong. The 4x4 system has proven itself time and time again. Probably the best car I've ever owned or will own.
