Strength:
Powerful, comfortable, good pick-up(6), and overall performance. It's a fun vehicle, good for the dog and throwing a day's worth of stuff in for a day trip. I feel relatively safe because it's sturdy.
Weakness:
Gas mileage not great, not enough storage, glove box too small, tires squeal on certain surfaces, back hatch could be designed better. I had a Jeep Reneagade CJ-7 in 1985 and loved it. I would pull/push people up a snowy hill in Boston without blinking. Jeep's back then had carborator problems and I got rid of it while I could still could. Similar Products Used: Leased 2 Honda CRVs and they can't even come close to a Jeep! Honda #1 had great gas mileage, but #2 sucked. The ride did not feel as secure. |

Strength:
Solid construction. I love the color I got, sort of an electric blue. Engine, tranny, drivetrain feels very solid. Tough suspension. Competent off-road capability straight out of the box. Price is right. More horsepower and torque than it needs. Strong engine.
Weakness:
Thirsty. Not too bad if you just cruise. So much pep to this 4.0 that I'm tempted to keep the pedal to the medal. I love the feel of it. It is perhaps the most rugged vehicle I've ever owned. I had a '94 Wrangler and experienced drivetrain problems. I think the last series of redesigns corrected many of the flaws in the jeep lineup. I needed something I could take my family of five in if necessary. (My wife drives a larger minivan.) I used to drive nothing but toyota's. This jeep is built much more solid than my tacoma. I can tell just by the feel of its appointments, the hum of it's engine, and the way the suspension feels that the this car will outlast that Tacoma. Toyota drivetrain's are solid but they forgot about the interior coachwork. Chrysler has apparently performed a 180 degree change. Top quality inside and out. Similar Products Used: Toyota Tacoma. Ford Explorer. Full-size Ford Trucks. Mercury Villager. The Cherokee is a better-made vehicle. I guess Chrysler finally figured it out. |

I like the feel of it. It looks sharp and is rugged.
Weakness:
none it's fun to drive, looks sharp and is rugged. Even though they are going to discontinue them (maybe) there are a lot of them on the road which is good for getting parts and helping the resale value because they're popular. I love my jeep...... Similar Products Used: isuzu rodeo. at first glance the rodeo looks like it gives more bang for the buck but i would be afraid to take it to the trails, it might break. The jeep is rugged and should last a very long time. I know a few people that have over 200k on them and have had only minor problems. |

Solid and reliable. One of the quickest SUV's around. Great Value for money
Weakness:
I have seen postings that a strength is it's fuel consumption ! You pay over $6 a gallon (costs me $75 to fill the tank !) Living in London drops my average MPG to around 13 Bought the Cherokee when is was 1yr old, the previous owner, with finanace, paid £28,000.00 !! (would have been cheaper to import one or two !) Unusual to get a 3year warranty on vehicles in the UK. Had and have no real concerns. Dealer servicing quite good value also. Reliability is the key. My wife was concerned at its size, as she was only used to driving a 2door compact, but loved it as soon as she drove it ! Would consider the Grand Cherokee V8 next Similar Products Used: Ford Maverick / Nissan Terrano II (same body/components) Does not compare to the cherokee in any way. |

Sporty looking trucks(got red of course)--Impressed with no rust anywhere after 90,000 miles(for the midwest that's unheard of)--can almost smoke the tires from a dead stop without trying--wife hardly lets me drive it anymore because she fell in love with the speed and ease of handing--it really sucks they are going to stop making these--their great SUV's--have had not one problem with mine
Weakness:
Of course everyone knows it's noisy at high speeds and no cup holders--back seat is tight but I have young kids so I don't care and neither do they--hard starting(guess the shift lever has to be aligned or something to that affect-stereo system sucks but I just sing louder Would buy another and will buy another one in a few years(has to be red though)--Even though the ride is rough, anyone who loves the outdoors, the roughness of a truck, speed and classy looks, get a Jeep Cherokee Sport. rattles..everything seems loose This Jeep was given to me 3years ago by my parents (they bought it in 1992). Its lifted 2" with rancho suspension and has Jeeps OEM Sport rims on it. It has a salvaged title (supposedly it was beat by a baseball bat when it was less than 2 years old, and damaged every body panel) and the paint is fading like none other. Lackluster interior Fell in Love with the Cherokee after test-driving a 97 sport. The dealer let me keep it for a week while it reviewed my credit. Credit rating to low so they asked for a higher down payment. I said forget it and began looking for an older model. Found a white 91 Cherokee Laredo, test drove it, bought it cash. It had 173,000 miles on it when I bought it with minor interior damage, i.e., the hatch interior panel was missing. Other than that the exterior was in perfect condition. Everything Everything has gone wrong with this car. In less than a year we have had the rotors replaced twice, two new tires, the front shocks replaced, the front drivers side door was falling off, and everything on it rattles! We are in arbitration now, hoping for a buy back. Never again would I buy a Chrysler product. The dealership has been okay. Service has done everything it can, quite frankly they don't know what is wrong with the car. Corporate Chrysler could care less. They spend all their money sending you surveys and send you back a letter saying "sorry you aren't happy". My advice, stay away from Chrysler, they are going downhill fast. Bad weather is what this thing was built for. It won't let you down when driving through a near zero visibility monsoon. While water is sloshing over your vehicle and pelting the winshield and other drivers have pulled over to wait out the wrath of the storm you can keep on driving even at high speed.
Weakness:
Rough Ride in this version. Horse and Buggy feeling at times on bad roads. Not a problem to buy and install new shocks from 39.95 each using a jackstand. Formerly a car owner. If you want to step up to fun, easy maintenance and the assurance of an all-weather, all-terrain driving vehicle that gets you where you need to go through any conditions and you would like a cross between a rugged yet smooth tank driving experience and sports car acceleration then this is the vehicle for you. The love of Jeeps cuts across many cultural and economic lines. Similar Products Used: I tested other SUVs that were in my price range. There is no comparison to a 4.0 liter Jeep or even the 2.5. The choice was obvious. |

-valve cover leaks like crazy i have enjoyed my cherokee for the time that i have had it. it does very well off road and my over all impression is that they are sound suv's. Similar Products Used: i used to own a explorer, but taking it off-road is like mudding in your mom's buick, although the explorer had a smoother ride |
