I don't know if this is just my truck, but in the winter time the truck will not stop in the snow. When I push the brake (not slam on the brake) the truck slides and the brake makes a grinding noise (my boyfriend say's that it pulsates). Whatever it is very scary. I took it back to where I bought it and the dealer says that it is doing what the anti-lock brakeing system is supose to do. I don't think so and I don't think I should have to get killed to prove that, so none the less I just don't drive the Rodeo during the winter. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thank You :o) I love my Rodeo. It's black and beautiful and very shiny. I keep good care of it. Similar Products Used: Chevy Blazer |

Looks good and runs good as long as it is still under warranty.
Weakness:
Breaks down as soon as the warranty runs out. But long before the payments stop. I thought I was buying a car that would last. It did.....just long enough for the warranty to run out. The salesman explained that the 110,000 mile or ten year warranty would transfer to us as the car was pre-owned. The car had 27,000 miles on it. No need to buy an extended warranty with that much left on the air conditioner and drive train....Wrong! When the engine stopped on the 10th of August we discovered that our warranty was only 60,000 miles or 5 years...which ever came first. We had 63,000 miles. Guess what we think of the car now? dependable, acceptable gas milage (for an suv anyway)
Weakness:
a little noisy, semi bumpy ride (my first suv though, this might be normal) I bought a 1997 rodeo with 70000 miles 2 years ago. Although it didn't jump at me in the beginning, i've grown to appreciate it. So far, at 133000 miles i have only replaced the clutch, that was almost a year ago. Minor problems i am having are the airbag and check engine lights coming on. The check engine light turns on every once in awhile. I'm pretty bad at taking care of my vehicles routinely so I'd have to say that the rodeo can take a beating, especially since i drive all over (calculate the yearly milage i've put on it....not to shabby). Currently i'm going through the nightmarish trade-in dance, but i'm more than excited to buy a new rodeo. |

Great Power even though I havent been able to step on it yet. Cant do that until I had 1,500 miles Warranty Love the way it looks Comfortable Interior Space Price
Weakness:
NONE! Just bought a brand new Rodeo and loving every minute of it. The leather is the most supportive one that I have ever encountered. My lease was up on my Grand Cherokee (which was an utter nightmare). The Rodeo feels like the perfect SUV. It beats the Grand Cherokee in every way hands down. The Rodeo is very comfortable and spacious although I am still in the 'break-in' mileage, I can still feel that it has A LOT of power. The Rodeo handles handles exceptionally for a truck-based SUV. I will most likely be switching the tires to Mitchelin and the shocks to the Monroe matics just for an extra smooth cushy ride. The asking price on my Rodeo was 27200 because it is fully loaded with the factory brush bar, tail light guards, running boards, spoiler, leather, sunroof, roof rack etc... and they knocked it down to $500 over invoice so I got it for roughly $24,000 plus tax and all that. I am extremely satisfied with my vehicle of choice and I can tell that this one is a keeper. So far, I'd definitely reccommend buying an Isuzu Rodeo. Also, the instrument cluster on the 2003's reminds me of being in a Porsche or similar sports car. Its very sporty looking. Size (not too big, not too small) Looks. Economy.
Weakness:
Parts availability Crummy resale value. I bought the car from the second owner, with 66k miles on it. He was a fanatic about maintenance, and I've kept that up. I now have 104k miles on it, and I really like it. For camping, hauling, or just tooling around on Forest Service roads, it's great. Both front boots need replacing, but replacement axles are too expensive. I'm looking into replacement boots because the CVs are still in good shape. The exterior and interior are great. I haven't had any electrical problems other than those funky sparkplug wires. I replaced them with the upgraded parts and I haven't had any problems. |

Cheap plastic, fragile window handles Door seals noisy I had 1991 Isuzu Rodeo that finally got too tired (well over 200,000 miles), and decided to look for a new vehicle. I finally settled on a 1996 Rodeo, with 68,000 miles on it. The previous owner had not done routine maintenance or cared for it properly. Despite that this vehicle performs extremely well. I've put nearly 20K miles on it in the last 8 months, and have had no problems whatsoever. I've kept the oil changes up and would like to have the transmission serviced as a preventative measure. The Rodeo handles extremely well in 4WD in deep snow or mud. I do 100 miles a day commuting, and the gas mileage comes in around 18 to the gallon. It tows a heavy pop-up trailer with no difficulties. Isuzu Rodeo 4x4
Strength:
none, besides being a bottomless pit to throw away money.
Weakness:
Aluminum cans used as wheel studs. extremely limited aftermarket parts. Service costs are way to high. Worst vehicle that I have ever purchased. The first weekend that I had it, it left me stranded with all but one wheel stud broken off the front wheel (that is evidently why Isuzu puts 6 lugs per wheel). I had it towed back to the dealer, and since then an additional 8 lug studs have snapped off. I am now needing new tires, so to top off the cost of the tires, I need to pay over 200 dollars for new studs/nuts, plus pay anywhere between 200-400 labor to get the studs replaced. If the resale wasn't so bad on it, then I would be able to sell it or trade it in to get a new truck (Dodge w/Hemi). As it is, I owe 8k on it, and I would be extremely lucky to get 3k. There are many other problems that have ocurred over the years, all adding up to make this a terrible buy. My guess is that the new models aren't any better. |
