Strength:

Drives well, comfortable seats, SUV-good off road as well as on road. Cannot think of anything else

Weakness:

I say below average gas mileage-could be better. No power seats! Only Cassette Player, Do not like spare tire situated underneath car-too much hassle to lower down on by chain-Get real!!! My father has the Isuzu Trooper, spare tire located on back of trunk door(exterior)

I have had my 2000 Isuzu Rodeo for the last 2 1/2 yrs. Mine is white exterior, grey interior. Bought with 11,--- some miles on it. Now getting close to 50,000. Have had Rotors and Brakes replaced from much use. Oxygen Sensor was not working properly, resulting in my car shutting off once I would completely stop. Had it checked at Auto Zone, must have reset Sensor or something. Im no expert with cars, but, even though Id like to have Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Rodeo has performed quite well for me overall. Not satisfied with the package deal. No power seats, no sunroof, winter drive control button inoperable and would rather have leather than cloth interior. Yes, has kept up well for me. Read other reviews on this car, only had problems again, with the sensor. No problems since. Anyone care to trade a Jeep Grand Cherokee for a Rodeo? LOL!

BULLET PROOF IF PROPERLY CARED FOR.NEWER MODELS HAVE MORE OPTIONS TO KEEP ME HAPPY. MY 6 CYL AVERAGES 22 M.P.G.

Weakness:

I CANT FIND MANY ACCESSORIES ONLINE. NOT ENOUGH PERSONAL STORAGE IN SIDE CAR.

THIS IS MY 2ND RODEO.MY 1ST WAS 1 2000 ON WHICH I PUT 108,000 MILES WITH ONLY NORMAL PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT MY NEW ONE ON THE STRENTH OF MY 1ST. WITH BOTH RODEOS I CHANGED OIL AT 500 MILES 3000 AND 5000. EVERY CHANGE AFTER THAT WAS WITH SYNTHETIC. I LIKED THE 2000 AND LOVE THE 2003. I LIKE IT BETTER IN LOOKS AND PERFORMANCE PER DOLLAR THAN ANYTHING IN IT'S PRICE RANGE.

Strength:

Good visibility, okay mileage, nice looking, easy entry & exit. Okay SUV

Weakness:

Don't expect warranty work to be easy. After paying over $900, my Rodeo still has same problems and they wouldn't honor warranty.

Rough ride, but comfortable. Had to replace the fuel modulater and fuel pump and the factory would not warranty it, although they said it needed to be replaced; said it didn't meet the criteria. The engine still pops when I start it cold and the fuel guage is still erratic. Engine clacks when I accelerate, but premium gasoline helps.Hasn't left me stranded. My CC player quit, too.

Strength:

Nice vehicle when it wants to run right, good looking, don't get stuck on the beach, very comfortable. The service folks at the dealer have been very nice to me and haven't charged me for a loaner yet. But if I didn't have an extended warranty, I would be screwed.

Weakness:

The dam thing breaks down all the time!!!!Tired of going back to the dealer. Lost time and work due to this vehicle.

I love the vehicle but after 50,000 miles, the vehicle seems to break down alot. First the transmission breaks down, then the computer, fuel/air sensor goes bad and check engine light stays on, then they replace it and pinch the wiring harness, now the computer parts are being replaced, along with the fuel pump in the fuel tank, wiring harness and again the computer sensor. Last time I bring the vehicle in for repair. Overall, I love the vehicle, but it has let me down way too much, last week at work the "reduced Power light came on" and I could not drive anymore then 20 miles per hour. Called the dealer and they didn't have a mechanic on!! They didn't even know what the light meant. (First Isuzu and the last) DON'T BUY A RODEO!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks good. Well appointed.

Weakness:

Very rough ride, though shocks, tires, etc were replaced with "top of the line" products.

I bought this car used with 30,000 miles. It runs well but rides like a lumber truck. I see many reviews referring to the "check engine" light coming on. All you need to do is tighten your gas cap 4 or 5 clicks, and the light will go out and stay out, til you forget the next time you gas up. There is a printed notice at the gas tank access cap warning of this condition.

Strength:

As far as I'm concerned this vehicle has NO strenths.

I purchased my Isuzu Rodeo in December of 1997. After 30,000 miles the engine had to be replaced. Isuzu could not define the reason for failure. Approximately one year later, they had to replace all of the seals on the motor because of the poor job the dealership did on the original engine change. Now, the electrical system has fried. My headlights don't work, signals, dash lights or anything else electrical including windows don't work. I am still paying for the vehicle because I had to refinance because of the high maintenance and repair costs associated with this vehicle. I wouldn't complain except for the fact that this vehicle has 56000 miles on the odometer. The new engine only has about 16000 miles. If you want a lemon, buy a Rodeo. If you don't stear clear from this vehicle because it will cost you an arm and a leg to get parts, to get it to a dealership that will work on it, and they will have your vehicle for approximately three weeks. Isuzu obviously does not back up what they sell. I am a very dissatisfied customer.

The worse auto I have owned in 40 Years of driving.

Constant problems, engine light comes off and on from day one, had it back for service numerous times, it has never been fixed. CD player has never worked, had it back for service, never fixed. All this was when the auto was under warrenty. Now gas light is on all the time, will cost $500.00 to repair, not under warrenty. Senser that tells auto to change gears has gone bad, and the dealer tells me they can't get the part from Isuzu, therefore I have nothing to drive, but a huge payment to make, plus repair bill. Bill Gatton of Bristol, Tn is the dealership, they do not stand behind their product, I would not buy another auto from them.

Looks good, easy to drive.

Weakness:

Too many repairs, will not work with the customer on the repairs.

I purchase a dealer/demo 1999 Rodeo with 13,000 miles on it. The air conditioning has gone out on it 3 times. The first two times it was under warranty and the complete unit had to be replaced. Two years later, it burnt out again and they want $1100 to replace. Will not work with me at all on the price of the work. I am still financing this vehicle and am now driving in 95 degree weather with no A/C. I will never buy another Isuzu and would not recommend to others.

Appearance.

Weakness:

Not backed by dealer. Huge repair problems. Extremely expensive to repair.

The Rodeo looks good. My wife liked the size for hauling our three kids around. We bought a used vehicle with 30K miles on it. The 4 cylinder engine is woefully underpowered. At 50,000 miles the timing belt broke and bent most of the valves. Dealer wanted a second trust deed on my house to fix the damage. The parts alone cost nearly $1000! I have learned that there is a known problem with the 2.2L engine breaking timing belts prematurely, so I am fighting with the dealer to fix it. They, so far, refuse. Once fixed, the Rodeo is for sale. This is the second Isuzu I have owned (first was a Trooper). I should have learned from that experience (two blown head gaskets, water pump, radiator) but figured they had improved their vehicles. I was way wrong. I have owned my last Isuzu. My neice wanted to buy a fairly new Rodeo, but I talked her out of it. They are not good vehicles and the repair parts are very hard to get and outrageously EXPENSIVE.
