Strength:

It looks good...roomy in the back. Handles pretty ok. Acceleration from a stop light is pretty good. That''s about it.. the price is not too bad, comparing it with the competition, but now i know why it''s ok...they haven''t really changed anything since the 1998 model.

Weakness:

IT''S VERY VERY BUMPY...DRIVING ANYWHERE! DRIVING OVER THE SLIGHTEST BUMP WILL CAUSE YOU''RE CUP TO FALL OUT OF THE HOLDER!! IT''S VERY NOISY AT HIGH SPEEDS(LOTS OF WIND NOISE). SPEAKERS RATTLE AT THE SLIGHTEST DETECTION OF BASS. I THINK THAT''S BECAUSE THE INTELLIGENT ENGINEERS PUT PLASTIC COVERING OVER THE SPEAKERS. YA, THAT WAS GREAT! OIL PROBLEMS GALLORE! I USE ABOUT 1L FOR EVERY 12-1300KMS OR LESS!! AND FROM WHAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD FROM THE DEALER, 1L FOR EVERY 1600 KMS IS NORMAL! WHICH SOUNDS VERY AB-NORMAL TO ME! I TAKE IT IN ABOUT ONCE EVERY 1-2 WEEKS TO GET A FILL UP OF OIL. AS A HINT, ASK THE DEALER BEFORE YOU PURCHASE THIS, WHAT THE RATED OIL CONSUMPTION IS AFTER 60,000KMS. ISUZU RATES THIS AS BEING WITHIN THE NORMAL LIMIT...I SUPPOSE IF YOU''RE CAR IS ON AN OIL BINGE!! THAT ALONE MAY DETER YOU FROM BUYING THIS OIL SPONGE! ALSO WINDOW TINTS ARE NOT AS DARK AS THE COMPETITION.

THIS CAR SUCKS! It looks good from the outside, but the inside looks like a blind person designed it!! The cup holders are crap in the back. Not enough storage space for miscellaneous items in the front(i.e. storage compartments/slots) The stereo system sounds like a toy radio from Fisher Price, and the acceleration after 120km/h is garbage. You might as well get out the car, and run to get ahead of the car next to you. You''ll have a better chance! I have had nothing but problems in the 6 months of owning it

Price,quality..in my experiences,so far,looks and performance.

Weakness:

none

Traded in a 99 durango with 7k on it. The isuzu is much better in all aspects, fit and finish standard features, mpg, and the 10 year dealer coverage is the best. I have added a k&n filter and flowmaster muffler to this already snappy v6. Gas milage is around 16 in the city. Not quite 5k on it so its not really broken in yet. All in all very pleased.

Strength:

Zero percent financing
Best warranty out there
Roomy and comfortable
Best value for the buck

Weakness:

Wind noise
Shocks
NO FREE LOANER CARS (Doesn't really matter if you never have to take it in for service I guess) :-)
Not enough ground clearance
Not alot of aftermarket parts.

Probably the best overall value for your dollar. Not one problem yet. Owned Chevy Truck, Ford Bronco, Infiniti G-20 (these cars are awesome but unfortunately don't go offroad), Corvette, Olds, etc. and this is the one I've liked the most overall. Zero percent financing for the life of the loan and the warranty was what put it over the top. I have no complaints so far, and it performs exactly as advertised. Gas mileage is not the greatest, but it 4 wheels well and it's not hard to drive in heavy traffic. I'd buy two if I could afford it.

Strength:

Gas mileage. LOTS of room for the price. Nothing major breaks, just maintenance, e.g. clutch at 125,000, water pump at 110,000, etc. Burns NO oil. Takes a beating and keeps on ticking.

Weakness:

Underpowered. Engine roars and clicks. Wind noise is excessive at high speeds (>80 mph). Bumpers rust too easily. A/C engine noise is excessive. Aftermarket supply is limited. Parts are expensive.

I love this truck. I'll drive it until it quits, and I've put on 171000 thus far. It is a good long-distance family travel vehicle, decent around town commuter/errand runner, and can also handle being used as a "real" truck (I've hauled cast iron bathtubs with no problems). I don't baby it and it just keeps running, and running, and running. It's also extremely fun in the snow, off-road, and in those downpours that turn the roads into streams here in Colorado. I have the 31x10.5s and they handle everything.

Not for someone who wants all of the little electronic toys (they break and are expensive to fix), or who likes speeding by everyone, going uphill on the interstate. You're trading off power for excellent gas mileage with this truck. With my configuration, it's also not for someone who wants a smooth ride and a whisper quiet interior.

This is a very nice little truck. It's not a luxury station wagon that happens to have four wheel drive.

It is also not for someone who doesn't want to take care of the exterior, since it will rust. Pay for the undercoating and detailing (if you don't want to do it). It's worth it. I wax mine twice a year, it looks wonderful, and I don't even have a garage. After almost ten years, I'm finally getting a little paint failure on the tops of the C-pillars, but everything else looks great.

Similar Products Used:

F-150 4x4, Windstar, Jeep Cherokee
F-150 sucks the gas. Jeep is always broken (after 50,000 miles). Windstar is great for people hauling, but there's no cargo room. As an overall package, I prefer the Rodeo.

Strength:

Haven't had any major problems with the engine, or dirvetrain. With the addittion of a wider wheels and tires, it can hold its' own in the mud (speaking from a 2WD point-of-view). I love the leather seats...very comfortable.

Weakness:

The engine power is alright. It could stand to be a little "beefier". Through periodic removal of the sunrood glass, it now has lots of wind noise. Top heavy. Power windows going out one by one. Rear glass is a little loose, and has wind noise. Chassis noise on bumps... Other qualities come with any SUV type.

On a scale of 1 to 10..... I give my truck, excuse me, car... a 6.5

Good Ride. Great Price on 1999 near the end of the 2000 model year. Handles well and was comfortable on a long trip. Steering, suspension and handling are very good. Haven't tried off-road but seems to do well on dirt roads

Weakness:

Seat a little short, but only noticeable after about 4-hours driving.

I think the Isuzu may be a well-kept secret in this part of the country. It is better than the 1999 Blazer I drove 40k miles in 10 months (company car). When comparing price and performance the Isuzu seems to beat it's competitors. Would advise anyone in the market to give it a serious look.

Similar Products Used:

1999 Blazer. The blaser had a nicer interior and was a bit quieter. Prefer the Isuzu to the Blazer

Strength:

Head and leg room, handles like a sports car. Engine has second wind almost like it's turbocharged. Love that 6 cd changer in the dash. Very pleased with the interior grey cloth. Was afraid the bright camel would be only interior available.

Weakness:

Sound system adjustments inadequate, too much locked in mid-bass.
Windshield seems to leak occasionally, can't tell where from.

The dealer sales practices were definetely questionable. The salesman lied to me about the vehicles and the manager tried to force me to sign a contract for financing with some Wisconsin bank to get the price I wanted, even though I was paying cash. Taking to another shop for service.

Definetely recommend for those who love driving with plenty of control. The steering is extra crispy, and no matter how I tried to get it stuck in our 42 inches of chicago snowfall last december it simply couldn't be done.

On the highway it rides and drives like it's on rails. Absolutely solid at high speeds, unlike all other 4x4's I tested. Love it.

It's sucks up a lot of gas, and the rear trunk how it opens to the side...i really don't care for that, that's about it.

I would recomend this car to every suv buyer. It is a good car, and a good looking car. It is not my car, it is my dad's, he wants to give it to me but i want a 2 door black Tahoe Z71! Well good look on chosing a car, i hope i helped you out a little!

Model Reviewed: Rodeo LS 2WD

Strength:

1) Strong (205hp) V6 performs well on interstates and around town.
2) 10 year powertrain warranty.
3) More leg room in front and rear than other SUVs. I'm 6' and my feet always hit the pillar getting into the back seats of Blazers and Explorers.
4) Looks great. Good balance between classy and sporty.
5) Comfortable on trips.
6) Turns very tightly.
7) Price tag is low for the power/room/options.

Weakness:

1) Could use better shocks.
2) Goodyear Wrangler 16" tires ride rough >75mph.
3) Power/Winter buttons placed on armrest - have hit a few times placing drinks into cupholder.
4) Lower-than-average resale value, but I don't plan on selling.

I've had my Rodeo for almost a year. It won me over hands down. Other mid-sized SUVs are overpriced and under-featured. I was shocked at how little I would get for the $27000+ entry level models of other brands. My truck is fun to drive, powerful, has plenty of luxuries (standard!), looks great, seats 5 adults comfortably, and even functions as a truck when I need it too (I've hauled a boxed dishwasher and a chest of drawers with room to spare!).

I'm pushing 11000 miles. The only problem I've had is trying to get the tires properly balanced. I wish it got better gas mileage (avg. 19), but it is a SUV, plus it hasn't been fully "broken in" yet.

I would definitely recommend OVER all other mid-sized SUVs,unless you have the money to consider a 4Runner, which I didn't.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A word of caution to those of you who live in/around Birmingham: DO NOT BUY FROM ROYAL ISUZU - THEY WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE INCLUDING THE SALES MANAGER (they quoted me one price and then wrote-up another, multiple times in the same visit)!!!!!!!!!!!! I got a better deal and better service going to Huntsville.

Similar Products Used:

Blazer & Explorer- too much $ for too little power and room (and NO BETTER, IF AS GOOD, reliability)

Model Reviewed: 4 Cyl in Line

Strength:

Good Gas milleage in the 4 Cyl model.
Nice ride, all the controls are convenient situated, very good when is a flood, really powerfull (for a 4 cylinder), nice body, plenty of room inside, very easy to make your own oil changes (maintenace in general), and really confortable, the best for the price.

Weakness:

Noisy exaust or Catalitic converter (only in 4 cylinder models), bad quality plastic in the interior, but you can live with that.

I really recommend this SUV, the model that i got is the cheapest rodeo, and the performance is unbelievable, the best, nice body, nice ride, when I bought this truck I was thinking to used as a second car, you know just to take me to work, and I ended using this car day and night.

Similar Products Used:

Compare with the nissan pathfinder and Xterra, the Rodeo price is better, and the motor is more powerfull in both 6 and 4 Cyl.
Compare with Toyota 4 Runner, more space in the interior.
Compare with Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Better Motor and keeps better the value of the truck, mitsubishi is nice but loss the value rapidly, I don't know why.
