Strength:
Haven''t found one yet
Weakness:
everything mentioned above My daughter has a 1999 honda passport and we love it. We decided to buy a 2000 Rodeo thinking they were the same thing they are not. After 22000 miles we have had 14 tires,8 wheels, springs replaced in the steering and numerous tire balances and rotations. After going through the Better Business Bureau I went to mediation last week and lost because the Rodeo is an off-road vehicle and will never ride smooth. As soon as I can I will be trading this off-road vehicle and buying something that will ride on pavement. If you are looking for a vehicle to drive on the road stay as far away from the Rodeo as you can. Strength:
Simple interior, 2 speed transmission and limited slip differential for traction, Sufficient power for a 4500lb. suv.
Weakness:
Mediocore sound system, cup holders not well thought out, and could use meatier tires. Bought this truck for the family and have been very pleased with it. Since the year and a half I''ve had it Ive made numerous upgrades to the suspension, Strictly for off-road activites. The truck is built far more solid than some may give it credit for. Preventive maintetnance and a set of tools go a long way, exc milage for Houston traffic... Strength:
Price and reliability. Nice job Isuzu, thanks !
Weakness:
Paint has faded alot. It is black so maybe thats why and i guess being 9 years old?? Did have leak problems and power steering mech problems. Starter replaced. Bought this 5 speed bare bones basic Rodeo from dealer. It was 2 years old with 36k on it. It has just passed 150k. I really cannot complain a bunch for the price. It''s not a Land Cruiser so I never expected it to be. It has made summer trips for the last 4 years from Southern California to Idaho and back again. Yes, its slow and you need to turn the AC off when going up long hills on long trips, but like I said , it''s not a Land Cruiser. I am pleased with the service this Rodeo has given us over the years, and it''s been decent transportation for my wife and 2 kids. |

Strength:
Nice looking exterior and interior. Good ground clearance and visibility.
Weakness:
Poor gas mileage. Front-end vibrates at 65 mph and above. Lost tremendous amount of value after only two years. I have accepted the "huge" loss of value and unloaded this product after only two years of ownership and 19,500 miles. In city driving it was only averaging 13.5 mpg, while hwy at 65 mph was only 20 mpg. The Engine Check light problem required multiple service visits and after the 4th visit it was determined to be a problem with the gas cap; which required special ordering and another visit. The only thing I will miss not having this vehicle is the high ground clearance. Similar Products Used: None |

Strength:
Cheap, cheap, cheap. Reliable, fairly comfortable
Weakness:
I cant really think of any except that it is not a flashy, high resale vehicle. It is what it is...an entry level SUV..and a damn good one. Bought new, currently 180,000 miles. Extremely trouble free miles. Fan Clutch went out at 65000 miles and was replaced with salvage yard item. A wire grounded somewhere on transmission (manual) and disabled the vehicle. Catalytic converter plugged up at 130000. On third set of tires (lasting 80000 miles/ set) Looks good (still) inside and out. Still has original clutch but is developing a rear main seal leak. 2wd "s" cheapie model that we have truly gotten our moneys worth. I anticipate another 100,000 miles out of this vehicle. It is truly a gas and drive vehicle requiring very little maintenance. I was truly disappointed in the dealer (Briggs). We were ripped off with a terrible interest rate and trade in value (live and learn). Similar Products Used: VW Quantum Syncro Wagon |

Strength:
Looks good. Low price.
Weakness:
Value decreases quickly. Breaks a lot(check engine light, seat, CLUTCH @ 8k!). Hard to find a dealer near you. Terrible service. No loaner car during length repairs (They say it is an Isuzu policy) Avoid this Suv at all cost! I bought the Rodeo because I liked the Looks, Cost, and the 0% financing. I regret buying it now since it is in the shop with a blown out clutch!!! It has only 8K on it! The dealer had the nerve to tell me that they might not warrenty it. After arguing with them they finally decided to warrenty it. The dealer actually said that they were fixing it "out of the goodness of their heart". Never go to IRA Isuzu in Mass! So, my brand new car is now in the shop for 5 days and they will not give me a loaner car or a rental. Just so you know, I have had several standard cars so it is not my driving style. My brother has a 2001 Rodeo as well. He uses it for business and has 34K on it. Everything in his rattles and the cheap plastic interior has scratches everwhere. These cars simply do not last. The servie is hard to find and terrible when you do find it. Also, my seat makes noise every time you move and is very annoying. It has been into the dealer 2 times for this and they keep telling me they don''t know what it is. Do yourself a favor and look at the Chevy Trailblazer. It is a much better truck for around the same money. Similar Products Used: 88 S-10 Blazer, 90 Jeep Wrangler, 99 Jeep Wrangler, 94 Land Rover Discovery. |

Strength:
nice looking. Lots of room in the interior. I actually get good gas mileage: 21-24 mpg in town and highway.
Weakness:
See above! I love the look of the car, but that''s about it. I wish I had read reveiws from other owners before I bought. My main reason for a "1" rating is the crappy service at the dealer. We have had this thing in the dealer more times than I can count for both recalls and problems. Each time I make an appointment (at 2 different dealers, mind you), I end up having to leave the car overnight because they didn''t get to it, and have to rent a car, or they tell me after 5 hours of sitting in the waiting room with my kids, that they don''t have the part! They are always very rude! Problems: 1. "check engine" light has been off and on constantly; they say they fix it, but I think they only turn it off and reset the codes, because it comes on while driving back home the 25 miles. Since I have been in 4 times for that alone, we are filing a lemon law suit. 2.ABS module went crazy. The module kept running after the engine was off, and we had to disconnect the battery to make it stop. Then we had to pull the fuse to be able to drive the car. The dealer doesn''t have the part, and we have been waiting for it for 3 weeks. We are also about to go out of our warranty period (almost 3 years, 31k miles.) 3. Speaking of the ABS...I almost crashed going downhill on a dirt road at 5 miles per hour because the ABS acts very strangely and doesn''t grab when it''s supposed to. I would have been able to handle the car better without the ABS at that time. 4. air conditioner doesn''t work...no cold air. 5. Defrost doesn''t work. I have to drive in a fog! 6. Everything rattles like crazy. Similar Products Used: Toyota pickup, went forever. Nissan pickup, so far with 80k + we haven''t had to do anything to it. |
